Flamestar acidphoenix Wednesday's the last day you can send me ska.
Kudos for finding a ska Muse cover. (Now if only I could find a ska cover of A Little Less Sixteen Candles, A Little More “Touch Me”…) This video seems to have been shot by a fan and, unfortunately, starts out with the camera in a position where the loudest sound is coming from the drums. The audio quality gets better when the camera moves to the area in front of the stage, which keeps this out of the 4s.
JAPANESE SKAAAAAAA
Now that I’ve got that out of my system… These overly simple, repetitive lyrics and tinny horns aren’t hooking me. I’m a little disappointed.
Oh, right. I forgot this song is ska. I never paid much attention to this song when it was originally irrelevant (just like actual horoscopes!) but nowadays it’s kinda creepy since Sagittarius now implies necrophilia.
I don’t know what to say, either, Mr. Harriott.
You see this? This is a smile, slowly spreading across my face.
Disclaimer: Von will fight you over whether or not this is ska.
Only an inveterate Kongregater would send a ska track from Super Crazy Guitar Maniac Deluxe 4. XD
A tiny bit underwhelming, but something I wouldn’t mind hearing again.
A deceptively happy-sounding song. I’m probably gonna get the melody stuck in my head, even though the lyrics are missing the mark for me.
Most of the songs I got are two-tone or third wave, so it’s nice to hear some of the og stuff. These horns are pretty sweet.
The vocals are weirdly appealing. I’m digging that rudie sound. I think the only thing keeping this out of the top ten is that I checked out a few of their other songs and felt sad that nobody subbed Missing Words.
Oh, wow, a ska ballad. This is a classic 90s song that gives me happy mellow roller rink flashbacks. The instruments are a little more lush than I remember, which makes me feel like I’m rediscovering a hidden gem.
[2:40 PM] BrainpanSonata: i thought they were white reggae
Welp, there’s egg on my face. But this is my favorite Specials song, so things are okay I guess.
A fun, mellow song with lovely tropical vibes. Is that a steel drum?
The sfx heavy intro is kinda ehhh idk, but the song itself makes up for that. Tongues firmly in cheeks and backed by tight horns and bouncy guitars.
This pushes my nerd buttons in all the right ways.
Sucker for strings be damned, this cover is a banger. I can’t say I like the original more when this exists.
Streetlight Manifesto seems to be the collective go-to for ska subs. So let’s see what this small majority is trying to tip me off to…
It was incredibly hard not to just do a four way tie at this point. I’m splitting hairs over awesomeness.
Apparently the only thing that can break a four song streak by Streetlight Manifesto is the precursor to Streetlight Manifesto.
Everything is blowing my face off. Everything is fantastic.
