Round 1 Flavour

So here we have two new kids on the block. Zeruda starts by sending out Warrior Star the Oshawott, while starwarsfan elects to begin with Mendel the Sunkern. Warrior Star's plan seems to be to try freezing Mendel to incapacitation, as she starts by summoning a Hailstorm, then blows a chilling Blizzard over her opponent, and then finishes up with a powerful Ice Beam. However, despite dealing heavy damage to the Sunkern, Warrior Star doesn't quite freeze him yet. Meanwhile, Mendel bombards the Oshawott with Energy Ball after Energy Ball after Energy Ball. One of them even strikes Warrior Star on a weak spot! Despite having to use slightly more energy than Warrior Star, Mendel and starwarsfan seem to have the upper hand at the moment. But Zeruda might still be able to pull something out of the bag.

Round 2 Flavour

As Mendel prepares to unleash a powerful attack on the nearly-fainted Oshawott, Warrior Star summons a Blizzard so cold that it actually freezes Mendel in a block of ice! She follows up with another Ice Beam before Mendel thaws out, but without any idea of what to do, the Sunkern Struggles to deal some damage to his opponent and ends up hurting himself in the process. By this point, Mendel looks ready to drop, but Warrior Star blows another Blizzard on her opponent. There's no kill like overkill.

Out comes WHY CAN'T I FLY the Togepi. Wait, we're really calling her that? Well I'm not. I'mma call her Josh.

Warrior Star tries to find a way to combine her two cold attacks, but since she cannot seem to work out how to fuse a snow-filled wind with a blue beam, she simply goes with the Blizzard to begin with. Josh could knock her out with a 9 BAP STAB-boosted move. However, Psyshock is neither of these things and so the Oshawott survives ... until she is pelted by her own hailstones. And then, with not enough Pokemon to proceed to the next action, the round ends there.

Round 4 Flavour

And out comes Magic Star the Fennekin. He begins by making it a Sunny Day, intensifying the heat of the sun. Josh is so amused by that performance that she calls for an Encore. Unable to resist the flattery, Magic Star continues to make it sunny, but soon Josh becomes bored and Yawns. The Fennekin is determined to get his audience back and he makes the sun's heat even more intense while the Togepi creates a Substitute for herself. At this point, Magic Star decides that, if he wants to be entertaining, he has to be more than a one-trick pony. But what's this? He's looking kind of sleepy now! This may not end well for the Fennekin.

Round 5 Flavour

This certainly seems to be the ultimate debuffs round. Magic Star incinerates Josh's Substitute with a Fire Blast, completely destroying it, but then feels so sleepy that the Togepi is completely free to do whatever she likes. First, she zaps her Fennekin opponent with a Thunder Wave, leaving him paralysed, then she gives him a Sweet Kiss to leave him confused after he wakes up, and finally she coughs up some Toxic gases to poison Magic Star. All this preparation has me wondering what Josh is planning to do next, and whether or not Magic Star will be able to do anything in the next round.

... and that's why I believe the DNA evidence had been tampered with.

Oh! The battle! Initially, Josh prepares herself for a strong blow or two by creating another Substitute. Magic Star wakes up, sees the Substitute and wants to burn it, but finds himself unable to move. Josh is not amused and Yawns once more as Magic Star tries to do something again. This time, he successfully lands a Fire Blast on the Substitute, although this one withstands the attack. Taking advantage of the sun, the Togepi uses the Morning Sun's rays to heal herself while Magic Star does the exact opposite and hurts himself. It seems that Josh's plan is basically to prevent Magic Star from doing anything effective, but I cannot help but wonder at what cost.

Just so you know Zeruda, the player ordering second cannot use attack clauses in substitutions because of the potential to get caught in an infinite loop. At the same time starwarsfan, neither of your substitutions would be able to activate because, by the time you find out whether or not Magic Star has woken up, WHY CAN'T I FLY will have already performed her action.
