I posted my teams very early, but never said my planned sets for them, since I wasn't sure and wanted to play by ear. But I wanted peoples thoughts. This is for both In game and for actually competitive teams
My rule for my first teams in a new game is No old pokemon, and 1 ghost type. I broke that here with Mismagius. I originally was planning to use Oricorio Senzu, but i wasn't taking advantage of dancer ability, which I really want to. I made the exception with Mismagius since she is one of my favorite ghost pokemon, I never got to use her in a starting team, and she fits the theme that just happened to happen for my Moon team: Lovely deadly ladies.
Primarina(torrent)@Z Primarina/Assault vest, Modest/Mild/Quiet(Modest is prefered but I am soft reseting for a female and Modest... I may need to just grab what I can)
Sparkling Aria
Psychic
Ice Beam
Moonblast
Bulky Special attacker. Loved her design since the leaks and think this is best for the actual starter you get. Psychic with Tapu Lele's terrain will let her just wreck.
Mismagius(Levitate)@Expert Belt/CHoice specs Modest
Shadowball/Hex
Dazzling Gleam
Mystic Fire
Thunderbolt
Never got a chance to make a team with Mismagius last gen, happy to finally do it. She get great coverage with this set. I am thinking Hex because since Salazzle will be poisoning everyone I should be able to guaruntee the extra hex damage. Mystic fire I loved on Delfox, and wanted to use it again. A way to constantly lower the damage of special pokes is always nice.
Salazzle(corrosion)@Air Balloon, Timid
Poison Gas
Venom Drench
Venoshock
Fire Blast
I always wanted to use a Venom Drench user on a team, and finally have a pokemon to do it. Poison gas hits both foes in doubles, as does Venom Drench. Great way to ruin 2 pokemon in just 2 turns. Rinse repeat whenever they switch.
Tsareena(Queenly Majesty)@Leftovers , Adament
Trop Kick
Hi-Jump Kick
U-Turn
Rapid spin/Play Rough/Aromatherapy
Love this design as soon as I saw it and have to use her. The last move really depends on how easy it is to get play rought via Breeding, since I don't tend to breed too much with my first time.
Tapu Lele(Psychic Surge)@Life orb/Tapu Z, Modest/Timid
Psyshock
Moonblast
Focus Blast
Natures Madness
Great pokemon, great design, I know people don't seem fond with natures madness, but instantly doing 50%(or 75%) of a pokemons health is massive, espcially if its vs a tank. Plus nothing is immune to it unlike Hyper fang. Once that damage is done she or a partner can easily clean up.
Pheromosa(Beast Boost)@Life Orb, Naive
U turn
High Jump Kick/Focus Blast
Ice Beam
Poison Jab
Loved this UB when it was revealed, and when I heard it was catchable I had to use it. Not sure on HJKick vs Focus blast, leaning towards kick though for just massive power.
Now for my Sun team This team has turned into a super tanky team
Incineroar(Blaze)@Expert Belt/Z cyrstal/Life orb, Adament
Darkest Lariet
Flare Blitz
Cross CHop
Leech Life
Litten was my fav, but Primarina is my favorite final, with Incineroar a close second. Love his animations, so amazing
Palossand(Sand compaction)@Weakness Policy, Bold/Modest
Shore Up
Shadow Ball
Earth Power
Giga Drain
Had to have this ghost type once I saw it. Great design, and a cool ability. However I thought it would be hard to do until I saw the next pokemon on the team. With Surfs give little damage from that pokemon, giving basically a +2 to Defense, Att, and SpA in 1 turn, this guy will be a monster wall. Plus shore up for healing? GG
Toxapex(Merciless)@black Sludge, Bold
Baneful Bunker
VenoShock
Surf
Recover
The super wall of this team. I didn't even mean for this team to just become so tanky I picked it from the demo datamining sprites only haha. I know regenirator will let him live more, but I cannot pass up merciless damage. If it turns out to be just meh, I'll switch it to regenirator. So much Damage venoshock and surf does criting even with no SpA boosting nature its crazy
Alolan Ninetails(Snow Warning)@Light Clay, Timid
Aurora Veil
Blizzard
Moonblast
FreezeDry
I loved this design as soon as I saw it. Then I learn it gets snow warning AND this duel screens move? Score. This with Toxapex alone makes him unkillable. Its worth the hail damage I will be taking with my other teams to use this beauty
Kommo-o(Overcoat/Bulletproof)@Expert Belt/White herb/Life Orb, Not sure for nature
Clanging Scales
Sky Uppercut
Poison Jab
FLamethrower/Shell Smash(if it's proven he gets it at some point)
I think this guy has a great design, is is probably an amazing wallbreaker. High attack and SpA means it can hit anything well. Shell Smash was recently discovered but no one is show how he gets it. Shell Smash would be a great last move for the Dragon
Celesteela(Beast Boost)@Leftovers, Adament
Heavy Slam
Earthquake
Seed Bomb
Leech Seed/Toxic
At first I was not sure what to think of this pokemon, but seeing that its Space Ship Princess Kaguya, I had to have her. Its so heavy Heavy slam hits 90% of the pokemon in the game for max damage. Thats amazing. I am torn on the last move; Leech Seed Works well with the hail and poison damage on the team, but toxic gives Toxapex another way to start doing its merciless crit damage.
And I already have a third team ready to go with the grass starter. This team has become a very annoying team to face against
Decidueye(Overgrow/Long reach)@Leftovers/something, Jolly Nature
Spirit Shackle
Curse
Roost
Leaf Blade
I am not sure if anyone has looked at this set yet. A ghost type with curse, a trapping move that damages, and also a safe reliable heal? Sounds fun!
Alolan Persian(Fur Coat)@Dark Z Cyrstal, Bold/timid nature
Parting Shot
Foul Play
Taunt
Toxic/Flatter/Fake out
I know some people car this cat garfield, but she's cute, reminds me of my cat. This set is all about annouance, and passing a full heal to a target you switch out to. Last move I am not sure on. Toxic is a safe but, but may be runing toxic spikes, so thats not needed. Fake out is always a safe move.
Ribombee(Shield Dust)@Not sure, Timid
Pollen Puff
Speed Swap
Moonblast
Quiver Dance/psychic
She is so cute I wanna give her a hug. Pollen Puff and Speed swap work so well with the rest of my team, especially the next guy. Not sure on last move, either boosting for more damage, or Psychic for coverage
WishyWashy(Schooling)@Sitrus berry, not sure of nature
Hydro Pump
Ice Beam
Earthquake
U Turn
This beast is a beast, Love the idea of this pokemon. With Ribombee keeping it nice and healthy and a speed swap it will do some massive damage.
Stoutland(Scrappy)@something, Adament
Crunch
Return
Play Rough
Psychic Fangs
Seeing the ability to ride one made me want to put one on a team, and with psychic fangs it will be great at dealing with wall breakers.
Nihilego(Beast Boost)@Air Ballon, not sure
Stealth Rock
Toxic Spikes
Clear Smog/Sludge Wave
Power Gem
What a strange pokemon this is, I love it. A bit lovecraftian in its look and type. Seems to be a great lead pokemon with duel hazard setting.
