Thank you for your inquiry. We are sorry to inform you that while it would be an incredibly useful feature of cans of soup/non-soup to upon being mutilated by a can opener or a brute ripping their head off yell "I AM SOUP" or "I AM NOT SOUP" as their last words, we don't live in such a universe where soup can talk.

Now of course, there is a simple solution to the mystery of how to tell whether something is or is not soup, and that is to not. Soup is categorised as salad due to its distinct lack of starch, various other non-soup items are also categorised as salad, so really soup and not soup share so much in common that it's not really worth discerning the two in the first place.
