97.786% of teams today are zapdos lead, metagross, swampert, celebi, milotic, heracross. Zapdos is on every team. I am not kidding .__.
ANYWAY, I find it funny that people still complain about Blissey when about 10% teams have it. Snorlax and Regice (especially Snorlax) are MUCH more common. Also Celebi and Milotic are on about every team, as is Dugtrio. I'm surprised at the fact that I haven't seen a Tyranitar for ages (maybe because of Swampert, I'll explain that later), and even Salamences are becoming "less" common. On the other side all teams have Heracross :\
So I'll explain why this metagame sucks: first, you have Swampert, which only has a handful of counters, which makes this even more boring because according to certain people the only counter worth using is Celebi.
Celebi itself is barely counterable and should be fucking banned but I'm not going there. Well, if most teams have Celebi, and Metagross and Heracross are the only "good" Celebi counters according to certain people, all teams will have Metagross and Heracross. So what counters Metagross? Zapdos, Swampert, Suicune and Milotic. I've mentioned Swampert above, but what counters the other 3? Regice and Snorlax. And what counters Regice and Snorlax? Heracross and Metagross. I've said what counters Metagross, but what counters Heracross? Personally I've never found Heracross hard to kill, maybe because I always use Weezing. But Weezing isn't being used because certain people keep saying Skarmory is better because it can Spikes and blah blah blah. So other than Weezing, what can switch into Heracross? Well, it's very hard to switch anything into Heracross. Salamence can do it, which makes Milotic, Swampert and Suicune even more standard, so their counters will rise and so on. Then you have Dugtrio which is just used as a "filler" so you can sacrifice anything, send it out and kill shit without any effort.
As you can see, this is like an endless cycle.
So if you're making a team, even if you start using some... "original" stuff you'll end up being creamed by those standards I mentioned, which leads you to use them yourself, and so on. I hate the fact that such a fun game was ruined, but then again maybe it's Nintendo's fault for not making it more... balanced.
This shit I wrote probably doesn't make any sense but we all know luck wins at the end anyway.
