Thanks to its solid bulk and access to Magic Guard, Wish, and Teleport, Clefable is one of the best, most splashable defensive pivots in OU. It's a fantastic check to Pokemon such as Dragapult and Kyurem if it's running a specially defensive EV spread and Pokemon like Terrakion if it's running a physically defensive spread, and it can safely heal up a teammate with Wish thanks to Teleport's negative priority. Clefable's access to Magic Guard is very notable, as it grants it very safe switch-in opportunities against Pokemon like Toxapex and Seismitoad, which it can use to recover HP with Wish or keep itself healthy. Defensive Pokemon that are easily worn down, such as Kommo-o, Seismitoad, and Rotom-H, appreciate Clefable's ability to safely heal them up with Wish; they notably check Zeraora in return. Similarly, offensive Pokemon that can be worn down very quickly, like Kyurem and Aegislash, also appreciate the fact that Clefable can keep them healthy with Wish and provide them safe opportunities to switch into play with Teleport.
