[SET]
Surge Surfer (Iron Hands) @ Life Orb
Ability: Surge Surfer
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- Close Combat
- Supercell Slam
- Ice Punch
[SET COMMENTS]
Surge Surfer Iron Hands is a great wallbreaker, leveraging the Speed boost procured by its ability to outspeed almost the entire unboosted metagame and set up with Swords Dance in order to break though opposing teams. It also has a great matchup against a lot of defensive staples such as Corviknight and Gholdengo. Ice Punch allows Iron Hands to hit Garchomp and foes that resist its STAB combination such as Latios, Dragonite, and Landorus-T for greater damage. Since Iron Hands is reliant on Electric Terrain to function, it must be paired with a Hadron Engine pivot such as Latios or Sandy Shocks, both of which can apply additional pressure on Great Tusk; in return, Iron Hands can beat Pokemon that Sandy Shocks is unable to hit such as Landorus-T. Iron Hands is not a conventional wallbreaker, and it can struggle to power through teams on its own; therefore, teammates such as Roaring Moon and Iron Boulder are appreciated, as they can apply pressure on Pokemon such as Deoxys-D and physically defensive Great Tusk, respectively, which Iron Hands struggles against. Pivots such as Roaring Moon and Galarian Zapdos are also great partners, as they can bait in Pokemon that Iron Hands can easily take advantage of to set up, such as Primarina and Corviknight.
