DOU & Discord Head
:sm/metagross-mega:
how does this thing use Iron Head

Metagross @ Metagrossite
Ability: Clear Body
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Iron Head
- Ice Punch
- Stomping Tantrum
- Protect

The steel behemoth has a concrete role as one of the best attackers in SM DOU! Its massive Attack combined with Tough Claws makes it hit extremely hard, and it boats great neutral coverage with options to hit Fire- and Steel-types that resist Iron Head like Incineroar and Aegislash and the Ground-types who threaten it like Zygarde. Mega Metagross's naturally high Speed also allows it to outspeed and threaten a decent portion of the metagame, including Mew and Kartana. Mega Metagross is also solid defensively due to its high defenses and Steel typing allowing it to fire off more attacks and switch in more often than other attackers of its caliber. Metagross's ability before Mega Evolving, Clear Body, hampers attempts by Landorus-T and Incineroar to slow it down with Intimidate, making it initially more threatening than other physical attackers. Kyurem-B is a phenomenal teammate due to it handling Landorus-T and Fire-types well and being good into rain teams, all of which give Mega Metagross trouble. Landorus-T is also a good teammate due to it beating Tapu Koko and Incineroar while also providing Stealth Rock support to further wear down Fire-types.

hi

  • Being the "best Mega Evolution in SM DOU" is not a role, this wording is better used with the point you used in the following sentence: " one of, if not the most threatening attacker in the tier".
  • You should take time to point out how MegaGross is a mon that is essentially more than the sum of a lot of good parts: high Speed, great SE and neutral coverage, great bulk and defensive Steel-typing for an already strong attacker. Going at some of these points one by one does not really do it justice, with other points being unmentioned.
  • Diancie is barely a tier staple. Think of something else (or don't, you probably don't have to as a lot Iron Head's value is hitting a lot for neutral and being a midground).
  • The Intim-Clear Body point is awkwardly written. The teammates section is awkwardly written. The ME 110 Speed point, for being a point that's about Speed, fails to mention anything that gets outrun. Please rewrite, you use more words than necessary.

Night and day difference in writing. Excellent job.
  • Name some targets for the coverage moves. Preferably name the coverage moves, space permitting. The Steel STAB can probably be shortened to something like "boasts great neutral coverage" instead of the wordy way you have it now.
  • " allowing it to beat Pokemon who would otherwise threaten it, like Zygarde and Landorus-T " - bolded part is sort of superflous to the point, a lot of fast things outrun things that would otherwise beat them. As general examples, the named pokemon are also not that good because they're not actually that fast lol. Would look for examples at the Base 100 - 109 range, all you really need to do is put in perspective how naturally fast it is. To give the point some dynamism, could rewrite is as "outrun and pin down a decent portion of the metagame, including x and y.". You also don't have to mention "the second it Mega Evolves", it honestly goes without saying.
  • The solid defensive abilities make it much more capable of switching in unlike other attackers.
  • Space permitting, you can add the Clear Body bit after the Speed bit as like "while its pre-ME ability Clear Body prevent Incin and Lando-T from instantly stifling its aggression with Intim" or something like that. Just a stragith to the point bit with as little characters as possible.
  • Mega Metagross doesn't actually struggle with Water-types in general, at most it's really just Volcanion and rain which are more specific things. The primary bulky water is Tapu Fini who MGross can be one of the better general answers to. Teammates could honestly be limited to Kyu-B (Good into Rain, Lando-T, Fires) and Lando-T (good into Grounds, incin, Rocks, Koko), they're the definitive partners that represent what MGross wants the most.
