Golurk’s excellent defensive typing and great Attack stat let it hard check a variety of prominent metagame threats, such as Cobalion and most notably Toxtricity. Shadow Punch is obligatory in order to pressure Bronzong effectively. Ice Punch nails Noivern, letting Golurk keep Stealth Rock on the field versus Defog variants. Iron Fist is the best ability to run in order to boost the power of the latter two moves. Colbur Berry is the preferred item, as it grants Golurk the ability to beat Incineroar in a one-on-one. Leftovers is also a valid option to mitigate Golurk’s lack of recovery, however.

Golurk fits best on balance and bulky offensive teams looking to compress the roles of Stealth Rock setter and Toxtricity counter in one slot. As such, teammates that can offset its myriad of weaknesses to common offensive-types while appreciating how well it handles Toxtricity, such as Cobalion are mandatory. Grass-types such as Celebi and Roserade are a must have, as they can offset Golurk’s terrible Rotom-W matchup while taking advantage of the offensive pressure Golurk puts on Steel-types like Bronzong or Copperajah. Wish users like Sylveon and Umbreon can offset Golurk’s lack of recovery and allow it to repeatedly check Toxtricity and Steel-types like Cobalion, while being able to check Incineroar for Golurk. Bulky Water-types like Milotic and Vaporeon appreciate Golurk’s Electric immunity while taking on offensive threats such as Inteleon and Choice Specs Noivern in return. Fairy-types like Galarian Weezing can also be good with Golurk as well in order to dissuade Choice Band Pangoro from clicking Knock Off while enjoying the pressure Golurk puts on Toxtricity. Lastly, Noivern is a fantastic teammate, as it can take on problematic Grass- and Water-types and Pangoro while being able to get it in safely on Bronzong, Gigalith, and Rhyperior.

Ice Punch knocks common ground immunities such as Noivern and Flygon out upon switch-in, and Heavy Slam significantly dents Weezing and OHKOes Sylveon. Golurk also can run a multitude of different coverage options in order to hit different threats, such as Thunder Punch for Mantine or Close Combat for Umbreon. However, these moves are generally unreliable in their utility and often leave Golurk vulnerable to being walled by other threats depending on the move it gives up. Iron Fist is the preferred ability to boost the power of Shadow Punch and Ice Punch. Maximum investment in Attack and Speed allow Golurk to effectively take on defensive threats such as Milotic while also speed tying opposing Machamp. A Jolly Nature can be run in order to outrun neutral natured Pangoro and Sylveon, but the drop in power is very noticeable.

Golurk’s lacking speed means it goes well on bulky offensive and balance teams that can get it in safely on Steel- and Fire-types that it threatens. As such, pivots like Rotom-C and U-Turn Noivern make excellent partners. Teammates that appreciate the pressure put on common ground immunities like Bronzong such as Celebi also pair nicely. Golurk’s lacking defensive typing means switchins to common Water- and Grass-type moves like Vileplume or Vaporeon are good teammates. Roserade in particular can do this and also set Spikes to wear down opposing cores into range of Golurk’s attacks. Stealth Rock setters such as Cobalion and Gigalith are mandatory for this purpose. Fairy-types such as Weezing and Gardevoir can pressure common Dark-type threats that can be problematic for Golurk, such as Pangoro or Swords Dance Incineroar. Sylveon is especially great for this purpose, as it can help Golurk stay alive through the game with its Wish support. Lastly, Setup sweepers like Swords Dance Pangoro and Curse Snorlax like how well Golurk can force chip onto bulky walls while being able to pressure these walls themselves for Golurk.

However, Kasib Berry and Leftovers are also viable alternatives, allowing Golurk to take on common Ghost-types like Chandelure very iffy on this mention, hex will pretty much always kill a toxic'd lurk (and if you factor in protect, 100% of the time) even through kasib - just keep this to doub, maybe remove the kasib mention altogether idt it's worth it and Doublade and mitigating Golurk’s lack of recovery, respectively. add a mention of what adamant vs jolly does here, you have both natures slashed but don't explain why one's better than the other

Wish users like Sylveon and Vaporeon Umbreon (bringing the vapo mention down, it's valid just fits better elsewhere) can offset Golurk’s lack of recovery and allow it to repeatedly check Steel-types like Cobalion. mention that they also check things like noivern and incineroar, and they rlly love that golurk helps with toxtricity Bulky Water-types like Milotic and Vaporeon appreciate Golurk’s Electric immunity while taking on offensive threats such as Inteleon and Choice Specs Noivern in return. we rlly do appreciate you taking the time to write this up but we've decided that cb lurk is ultimately just very outclassed within its role and doesn't have enough of a niche to warrant being used/at least not to warrant an analysis, sorry!!
