Welcome to Smogon! Take a moment to read the Introduction to Smogon for a run-down on everything Smogon, and make sure you take some time to read the global rules.
trying to avoid starting a new one until they can play, they're still both fairly active so I dont think it should be a crazy holdup but just in case ppl are wondering why I haven't touched this for a week
G1: I kept expecting Tone to switch, but he never quite did at the times I predicted him to (for example, when it was Mawile v Monferno, I expected him to switch into Relicanth). Having Purugly in the back made Shadow Sneak on Muk a risky play for me, but not hitting the Grumpig right away let him rack up the damage he needed. With Mawile and Roselia on the other side, I found it more difficult to actually lock into an Attack on Mime, so I decided to sack it early and bring Muk back from what happened early-game. I thought I had a shot at the very end, but then he took away my last chance to win with Muk by using Destiny Bond with his Drifblim, lol. I did end up predicting Mawile coming in and scoring the 2HKO on it with Muk's CB Fire Punch, but it was too little too late.
G2: I saw that Arbok, and knew immediately I needed to preserve Golem for when it eventually came out. Seeing no resist for Golem's EQ, I fired one off rather than using SR and KOed it early-game. From there, there was a point where I was using Rapidash v Mr. Mime and definitely expected his Stunfisk to come out, so I Baton Passed to Sawsbuck in order to create a 50/50 where he might predict Horn Leech and go Bouffalant. However, I ended up just eating another Psychic from Mime. I also knew I needed Stunfisk gone (or at least weakened) for Rapidash to clean, so I decided to take it out mid-game with NP Mime. This also weakened Bouffalant significantly, which was then finished off by Golem. Tone nearly grabbed momentum here again with Sub Ninetales, but I figured there wasn't any harm in just clicking an Attack (I again used EQ, seeing no Ground resist; Rock Blast would've probably done well here, but it could've missed. Leaving Ninetales alive actually gave Altaria the opportunity to use Tailwind, too). While I was in against Ninetales with Altaria, I set up a Tailwind which allowed CB Sawsbuck to break to the point CS Rapidash could clean up afterward.
G3: I brought CoilPass, which is already a slow construct that is susceptible to Taunt and rather reliant on natural bulk to power through opposing teams. Quilladin and Misdreavus countered it perfectly, as Taunt (or paralysis, lol) disallows Coil to be passed out, pretty much neutering the team as a whole from the start. I wanted to stop Quilladin early-game, and really only had Grass Whistle as an early-game countermeasure. It kind of went downhill from there, with Regigigas nearly bringing it back at the end, but I sort of regret not bringing something more serious here.
alright then, let's start voting for the next session. also, I'm planning either that one or the next one to be the last bc sm coming out likely means this'll be a bit overshadowed, plus you've got LTPL and seasonal finals games to watch, so yeah. but with that sad news out of the way, let's get one last hype MU
given that I received very few votes and SM is too close, I'm gonna call it here. Akir vs PokemonmasterTj you guys are the last battle before gen 7 so fight before friday please!
