are there ninjas too? Here in Japan, the kids don't get prom... or school dances at all... which is a real shame, because Japanese society could go for a healthy injection of get-over-it-touching-the-other-gender-is-ok.
...also Hawaii is one of 2 states in the US that has girl's wrestling, and I went to prom with my co-captain (the girl's team's captain)... lol
...don't worry, she was really cute. In Hawaii, even small asian girls wrestle.
Though in our case, it was kind of a holy-shit-we-were-both-so-caught-up-with-wrestling-and-judo-season-that-we-forgot-to-ask-anyone-to-prom-let's-go-together. lol
^oh yeah, in Hawaii, Judo is a state sport, just like football or baseball. Well, a good percentage of the participants also wrestle.
Prom was scheduled the week after the Judo State Championship tournament, which we were relieved about since it meant not having to cut weight during prom. lol
If I recall correctly, Junior function fell between the two seasons which was also lucky.
Yeah, prom is expensive as shit, but I'm sure you'll have a blast!are there ninjas too?
But anyways. I was thinking someone would make this thread. My senior prom is May 19th. And all I've got to say is...jesus fuck my wallet...
I didn't think I was going to go to prom. Seemed a little silly, and I always hated homecoming and shit so why bother, right? But figured...it's the experience, right? Senior prom, etc. So I asked one of my best friends from a different school, but her parents wouldn't let her go to two proms. So I figured again I wouldn't go after that, especially since I didn't want to ask the other girl I would have liked to go with as I thought she might feel bad for being asked second (is that weird? I had talked to her a while ago about the first girl I asked, so she knew all about that. I wanted to ask her, but was absolutely terrified she might feel as if she was a second choice, or that I cared more about going to Prom than I did about her, which is false.) But then I figured out how to ask her while bypassing all of that, and she said yes!
And honestly, now I'm incredibly excited for it! Managed to be a part of a really fun group, and have a really amazing date to spend it with. So I can't wait, and will post itt when it happens!
But jesus fuck my wallet...40 for flowers for the first girl (while she said no, she has the flowers on her dining table, and I'm still happy about that!), 50 for the second, 55 for my ticket, 55 for her ticket, 58 for my seat in the overly expensive vehicle that is transporting me to prom, and 58 for hers. In 316 dollars, and I still have to buy a suit! Uh oh...
your life sucksdidn't go
best choice of my life
Heh, this reminds me of myself back in high school. For whatever reason, I was socially angsty and REALLY didn't want to go to prom, even though my friends kept on telling me otherwise. In the end, I did end up buying a ticket and I had a blast. My preconceptions of prom were essentially that of a popularity contest (and I suspect that's what others who are against prom are thinking), and it's "not right for them." For one, prom is just another chance to hang out with your friends and have a good time, except in greater swag. Seriously, how often does a chance to dress up like a fucking boss come along, and dance with the dames come along? The food was great (I don't know wtf people were serving at your guys' proms, our food was amazing), and I enjoyed just hanging out with my friends (and also see a few awkward moments heh). I would gladly shell out another 200 dollars to go to prom (except that'd be awkward right now since I'm old). Some of these posts seem really...angsty for something that's supposed to be a fun event.
So you grew from 5'2 to 5'6...? :DI went to mine, it was fucking shit, bought a new suit for like 400 dollars, doesn't fit me anymore cause I grew like 4 inches since then
solid performancewore a dress to my prom, didn't get in, went on to have the best night of my life
Good job dude!! My prom was amazing. And the afterpart is pretty fun.So, on Monday a senior girl who I've known for a while asked me out to our high school's prom, so yeah, that's basically why I decided to make this thread.
So, here you'll be able to talk about your prom experience, your future plans for attending prom, how fucking expensive prom is (it's true), or whatever. If it has something to do with prom, feel free to discuss.
I used to act the same way about school dances, just thinking it was a massive popularity contest. But then when I got asked to prom, I realized it's not a popularity contest. Really changed how I look at things.Heh, this reminds me of myself back in high school. For whatever reason, I was socially angsty and REALLY didn't want to go to prom, even though my friends kept on telling me otherwise. In the end, I did end up buying a ticket and I had a blast. The kicker is the after party though. Our school, trying to deter our year from doing stupid shit, organized our own huge after party in our gym, and hired dealers from a casino, had an arcade on the side, a kareoke, and a bunch of other stuff, and had free swag and food and drinks just rolling around. In the end, they gave out more than 20k dollars in prize (laptops, TVs, and other swag).
Seriously, I encourage everyone to go; it may seem like a waste of time, but prom (and high school) happens once in your life; it's probably best if you take advantage of it.
Just the way he likes iti went to my 4th prom last weekend. I keep getting older and the girls dont.
