UU Porygon2

I miss Nuked ok?
[OVERVIEW]

Porygon2 establishes itself as one of the very few viable omniboost sweepers in the tier because of Z-Conversion, which not only boosts all of Porygon2's stats by one stage but also allows it to change into an Electric-type. This grants Porygon2 valuable resistances to Bullet Punch and Flying-type moves and STAB on its potent coverage. Its BoltBeam coverage also gives it everything it needs to hit top-tier threats like Scizor, Latias, and Hydreigon along with almost everything else in the tier neutrally. Porygon2's Speed after boosting is also passable, letting it outpace Latias, Gengar, and Tornadus. Porygon2 is also able to afford running recovery, which further distinguishes itself from Shaymin. However, Porygon2 can only set up once per match, so it relies on a large amount of team support to chip and remove its checks like Blissey and Mega Steelix so it will be able to clean up the remainder of the opponent's team late-game. Porygon2's Speed after boosting up, while usable, still leaves it outsped by common Choice Scarf users like Krookodile, Hydreigon, and Infernape along with naturally fast Pokemon such as Mega Sceptile and Mega Aerodactyl. This tends to force Porygon2 to waste turns restoring its health in order to prevent itself from being revenge killed, which opens up free turns for the opponent. Porgyon2's bulk is also marginally lower than Shaymin's, which, in conjunction to its low Speed before using Z-Conversion, can give Porygon2 a more difficult time setting up.

Moves
========

Thunderbolt and Ice Beam form Porygon2's Bolt Beam coverage that hits practically everything in the tier for neutral damage at the minimum. Recover keeps Porygon2 healthy and is easier to utilize after Z-Conversion due to its augmented bulk.

Set Details
========

Z-Conversion transforms Porygon2 into an Electric-type upon boosting due to Thunderbolt residing in the first moveslot. This is essential for letting Porygon2 resist Scizor's Bullet Punch while also resisting Mega Manectric's and Zeraora's STAB moves. Download can grant Porygon2 a boost in Special Attack if it comes in on a foe with a lower Special Defense compared to its Defense.

Usage Tips
========

Despite its access to recovery, Porygon2 should only be brought out late-game once its checks have been chipped or removed by its teammates. It should be brought in on free turns or slow pivots to prevent it from taking any damage beforehand. Be knowledgeable on the opposing Pokemon's current Special Defense stat so you can guarantee a Special Attack boost before activating Z-Conversion. This can make it easier to break Mega Aggron, Doublade, and bulkier Scizor sets. It is not advised to switch in on an opposing Pokemon with a lower Defense stat, as Porygon2 would not be nearly as strong. Porygon2's increased bulk allows it to take hits from Nihilego and Choice Scarf Infernape, which, in tandem with Recover, is useful to keeping it healthy and eventually beat these Pokemon out. Seriously avoid Toxic and Thunder Wave, as they can end or significantly cripple Porygon2's sweep; the former forces Porygon2 to systematically heal up, while the latter leaves it wide open for punishment by numerous threats like Terrakion and Nidoking that can now all outspeed it. Recovering against Pokemon that may carry a Choice item like Hydreigon helps Porygon2 scout them while remaining healthy. It can also be useful for winning long drawn out battles against Nihilego. Healing up too early can waste turns and make Porygon2 more vulnerable to attacks. Porygon2 should set up on Pokemon that it can outspeed to minimize the damage it takes and the number of times it needs to recover. Setting up on Amoonguss, Slowbro, and defensive Primarina can work into Porygon2’s favor because of this as long as it scouts for status beforehand.

Team Options
========

Porygon2 fits best on bulky offense where it can be a decent wincon and wait for its teammates to chip at its checks. Entry hazard setters such as Nihilego, Empoleon, and Swampert lay down the ubiquitous Stealth Rock to apply subsequent chip damage. Spike setters like Klefki and Chesnaught also provide even more entry hazards to pressure the opponent with. Scizor, Krookodile, and Mega Aerodactyl provide Pursuit support, which can chip away at Porygon2’s checks like Blissey and Mega Steelix in the long run if they don’t keep themselves healthy. Cobalion and Terrakion threaten out and remove special walls that can counter Porygon2 while also setting up Stealth Rock. Terrakion also can dismantle Rotom-H, whose typing alongside its access to Toxic and Pain Split makes it a major annoyance to Porygon2. Amoonguss and Celebi handle defensive Ground-types that could complicate Porygon2's sweep. The former can put a target asleep with Spore to possibly guarantee setup for Porygon2, and both are great status absorbers. Primarina threatens every prevalent Choice Scarf user like Krookodile and Hydreigon as well as the likes of Mega Aerodactyl and removes them. Slow pivots like Scizor, Gligar, and Rotom-H give Porygon2 an easier time switching in without having to take any unnecessary damage.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

Shadow Ball can be used in the first moveslot to transform Porygon2 into a Ghost-type and give it an easier time powering through Latias, Chandelure, and Reuniclus. Shadow Ball should be used alongside Hidden Power Fighting so Porygon2 isn't powerless against Dark-types. However, Porygon2 now cannot resist Bullet Punch and has new issues with Choice Scarf Hydreigon. Porygon2 can run a defensive set with an Eviolite to serve as a blanket check to Nidoking, Hydreigon, and Mega Manectric and Trace to allow it to use opposing abilities to its advantage, but this role is eclipsed by Blissey.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Special Walls**: Special walls like Blissey, Alolan Muk, and Snorlax wall Porygon2 to no end and can potentially poison it, completely ending its sweep.

**Faster Pokemon**: Mega Aerodactyl and Mega Sceptile both naturally outspeed Porygon2, which forces it to take some damage. Choice Scarf users like Krookodile, Hydreigon, and Infernape also outspeed after Z-Conversion and can deal substantial damage, with Krookodile being able to use Earthquake against an Electric-type Porygon2. Most of these Pokemon should fear the potential Ice Beam if they hard switch in, though.

**Ground-types**: Ground-types like Mega Steelix, Swampert, and Mamoswine take neutral damage from Porygon2's Ice Beam and threaten it with Earthquake after Z-Conversion.

  • Porygon2 establishes itself as one of the very few viable omniboosters in the tier.
  • Porygon2 is unique though because of Z-Conversion, which not only boosts all of its stats by one stage but also allows it to change its typing. This grants Porygon2 key resistances alongside a reliable STAB in its potent coverage. (you can specify electric here bc ghost is oo and not good so you can talk about bp resistance + other things it can beat with its typing)
  • Porygon2 is able to afford running recovery which further distinguished itself from Shaymin. (can use this to mention boltbeam coverage + how it only needs 2 moves to function)
  • Porygon2's Speed after boosting is also passable, as it lets it outpace Latias, Gengar, and Tornadus.
  • However, Porygon2 can only set up once per match, so it relies on a large amount of team support to chip and remove its checks so that it will be able to clean up the remainder of the opponent's team in the late-game. (mention some of its prominent checks that make it require this)
  • Porygon2's Speed while usable, it’s still outsped by common Choice Scarf users like Krookodile, Hydreigon, and Infernape along with naturally fast Pokemon such as Mega Sceptile and Mega Aerodactyl.
  • This tends to force Porygon2 to waste turns restoring its health more thoroughly which opens up free turns for the opponent. (specify more that its so it can avoid being revenge killed by ^^)

  • Despite its access to recovery, Porygon2 should only be brought out in the late-game once its checks have been chipped or removed by its teammates. (and bring it in on free turns / slow pivoting so it doesn't have to take any damage before it's ready to set up)
  • Be knowledgeable on the opposing Pokemon’s current Special Defense stat so you could guarantee a Special Attack boost before activating Z-Conversion. This pseudo-Nasty Plot can make it easier to break Latias and bulkier Scizor sets. (give some relevant examples of pokemon that have this. latias isn't one and the way it's listed ehre could imply it is without examples of them)
  • Seriously avoid Toxic and Thunder Wave as they can end or significantly cripple your sweep and in Thunder Wave’s case, leave you wide open for punishment by numerous threats that can now outspeed you. (such as? toxic is bad because you're forced to recover a lot more too)
  • Restore your health with Recover once you reach a low enough health that it’s mandatory. Healing up too early can waste turns and make you more vulnerable to attacks.
  • Porygon2 should set up on Pokemon that it can outspeed to minimize the damage it takes and the number of times it needs to recover. Setting up on Primarina, Slowking, and Adamant Bisharp can work into Porygon2’s favor because of this. (252+ SpA Choice Specs Primarina Hydro Pump vs. +1 0 HP / 4 SpD Porygon2: 202-238 (64.9 - 76.5%) -- guaranteed 2HKO prima really isn't something you want to set up on if you don't need to because taking that damage isn't nice. slowking also isn't ranked so i'd replace that one too)
Team Options

  • Cobalion and Terrakion threaten out and remove every Special Wall that can counter Porygon2 while also setting up Stealth Rock. (you can mention how terrak can punish rotom-h too which walls boltbeam coverage + has toxic / pain split to annoy p2)
  • Amoonguss and Celebi handle defensive Ground-types that could complicate Porygon2’s clean. These two are also great status absorbers.
  • Primarina walls every prevalent Choice Scarf user and the likes of Mega Aerodactyl and removes them. (252 Atk Krookodile Earthquake vs. 92 HP / 0 Def Primarina: 195-231 (60.1 - 71.2%) -- guaranteed 2HKO wouldn't say it walls all of them but it does threaten all of them)

This pseudo-Nasty Plot can make it easier to break Mega Aggron, Doublade, and bulkier Scizor sets. //Clearly state that it's not advised to consume Z-Conversion if Porygon2 didn't get the Special Attack boost.
  • Seriously avoid Toxic and Thunder Wave as they can end or significantly cripple your sweep as the former forces you to systematically heal up while the latter leaves you wide open for punishment by numerous threats like Terrakion, Celebi, and Nidoking that can now all outspeed you. //Remove the Celebi example because Celebi can't OHKO +1 Special Defense Porygon2 with Shattered Psyche while Porygon2 usually OHKOes Celebi with +2 Ice Beam.
  • Restore your health with Recover once you reach a low enough health that it’s mandatory. Healing up too early can waste turns and make you more vulnerable to attacks. //This is too vague in my opinion. Provide examples of when to Recover... like to tank a Draco Meteor from Choice Scarf Hydreigon and end up with more HP..

Terrakion also can dismantle Rotom-H whose typing alongside its access to Toxic and Pain Split makes it a major annoyance to Porygon2. //saying "every special wall" is an exaggeration. For the overview,
Porygon2 should set up on Pokemon that it can outspeed to minimize the damage it takes and the number of times it needs to recover. Setting up on Amoonguss, Slowbro, and Defensive Primarina can work into Porygon2’s favor because of this.
Just would be good to mention how Amoonguss and Slowbro can potentially status Porygon2 if you don't scout beforehand.

Again in the usage tips, I think it'd be cool to give a bit of emphasis on how Porygon2's improved bulk after setting up helps it out especially with how it can afford to run Recover.

Overall, good job.

Moves
========

Thunderbolt and Ice Beam form Porygon2's BoltBeam coverage that hits practically everything in the tier for neutral damage at the minimum. Recover keeps Porygon2 healthy and is easier to utilize after Z-Conversion due to its augmented bulk.

Set Details
========

Download can grants Porygon2 a boost in Special Attack if it comes in on a foe with a lower Special Defense compared to its Defense.

Usage Tips
========

Despite its access to recovery, Porygon2 should only be brought out late-game once its checks have been chipped or removed by its teammates. It should be brought in on free turns or slow pivots to prevent it from taking any damage beforehand. Be knowledgeable on the opposing Pokemon's current Special Defense stat so you could can guarantee a Special Attack boost before activating Z-Conversion. This can make it easier to break Mega Aggron, Doublade, and bulkier Scizor sets. It is not advised to switch in on an opposing Pokemon with a lower Defense stat, as Porygon2 is now would not be nearly as strong. Restore Porygon2's health with Recover once it reaches a low enough health. (i don't really see a use keeping this line in because it's honestly just fluff and common knowledge known by literally everyone) Recovering against Pokemon that may carry a Choiced item Pokemon like Hydreigon helps Porygon2 scout them while remaining healthy.

========

Primarina threatens every prevalent Choice Scarf user like Krookodile and Hydreigon and as well as the likes of Mega Aerodactyl and removes them. Slow pivots like Scizor, Gligar, and Rotom-H give Porygon2 an easier time switching in without having to take any unnecessary damage.

Other Options
=============

===================

Choice Scarf users like Krookodile, Hydreigon, and Infernape also outspeed after Z-Conversion and can deal substantial damage, with the former using Krookodile being able to use Earthquake against an Electric-type Porygon2.
