Do the items stay the same each time you respawn them?
No, they'll change each time you break the rock. You're not guaranteed constant items when you break a rock that had one, however. It's completely random.

Is anyone else surprised by the items your mom buys for you? I've gotten a Muscle Band, a Focus Sash, and a Choice Scarf all from the man at the pokemart.

Edit for Slumdog: You can buy an Abra for 200 coins (at level 15, this is an awesome pokemon for anyone playing through the game), an Ekans in HeartGold or a Sandshrew in SoleSilver for 500 coins, or a dratini for 2100 coins.

what pokemon can you buy at the game thing
In goldenrod:

Abra 200
Sandshrew(SS) / Ekans(HG)
Dratini 2100

In Celedon:

Not sure, but probably Mr.Mime like in GS for 3333
Eevee 6666
Porygon 9999

I was quite surprised as well. Not only with the items but also the lack of time restrictions or anything. I had both a Choice Scarf and Focus Sash long before the E4 on my first playthough. Unfortunately it seems rather random and on my current run I have only gotten type-berries as well as common shop items.

Gahh i didn't let her buy things for me this time :(, i kinda miss her getting plush dolls for your room though, but i guess these items are more useful for the current gen.

And i didn't knew what pokemon they were selling at the casino, if i knew there was Sandshrew i would got it for the adventure. Too late.

I'm glad to see Stealth Rock can be bought in HGSS.
I've careful managed my solitary TM in DP using it in such a way that I can breed it to as many viable users as possible.
I taught it to an aerodactyl and sketched it with smeargle for breeding to ground group users.

Unfortunately, there's no way to get it on gligar or shuckle and since Metagross/Bronzong can only breed with Ditto I can't get it on them either.
I always felt it a shame that so many things learn it but nothing learns it by level up and you only get one TM.

With the release of these games, will Pal Park become unnecessary?

It sure would be nice, what with the absence of a GBA slot no the DSi.

Let's see:
Mewtwo
Moltres
Articuno
Zapdos
Raikou
Entei
Suicune
Lugia
Ho-Oh
Kyogre
Groudon
Rayquaza
Latios
Latias
Kanto/Hoenn Starters

Pretty much every Pokemon you would consider migrating from R/S/E/FR/LG barring the regis.

Are there Pokemon Contests in this game? I'm not particularly fond of them but I haven't seen any contest halls and I already have 14 badges so I'm a bit curious.

From what I hear, there's none whatsoever.

So. I ain't getting the games until they come out in America, little though I want to wait that long. I got my team planned out already, and I need to know- When Qwilfish are swarming, can they be caught with an Old Rod as they could in GSC?

Pokéthlon has all the evolution stones before the E4 for 2500P (Moon being 3000). I haven't seen all days yet, but I know Fire is on Tuesdays, Water is on Wednesdays and Leaf is on Saturdays. I guess Moon is on Sundays and Mondays and Thunder, on Thursdays and Fridays.

There's also Heart Scales for 1000P some days of the week, and all Apricorns for 200P.

First off, these are Gold/Silver remakes, so why would they put emerald in there? And no, but there will probably be Ruby and Saphire remakes.

If you meant crystal, then no, because there was no lightning yellow and this game has many crystal features anyway, like e-speed dratini.
Yeah I had a brain fart there. Thanks for the answer.

Chinchou can be caught near Cianwood with a Good Rod. Its how I caught mine.

Also for the Fire, Water, and Leaf stones, you can try and come first in the Bug Catching contest. I believe Fire is for Tuesday, Water is for Thursday and Leaf is for Saturday.

Basically, go ahead and catch your Growlithe and get your Eevee, you no longer need to worry about missing out on E Speed like you would have worried about in G/S/C ( I know I used to ). you can also get a Vappy and Flareon pretty early on now, which is kinda cool.

Just a side note, but I was playing Silver just the other day, and I noticed the immediate lack of pokemon following you. IMO that is one of the main reasons Id buy HGSS.

It seems like if they wanted to help children learn a little, they would make a Moon stone available on Mondays. That is just me though.

I love this game.

I haven't got that far, but I noticed when I caught a second Pokémon (Hoot-hoot if anyone cares) and switched it with my Totodile the Hoot-hoot followed me instead of Totodile. But is there any way I can make my Totodile follow me despite it not being first?

Serebii's Pokedex for Scyther mentions that you need to trade it from DPP in order to get it into HG/SS, but also says that it's not confirmed, has anyone seen a wild Scyther in HG/SS?
