  • Welcome to the National Dex Teambuilding Lab! Here, we'll take requested starting points of a single Pokémon or a core of two Pokémon and produce a team based around it, post it here, and include a description of our teambuilding process to hopefully help others improve their building toolkit.
  • To request a core, simply post the sets and have a brief description providing an overview of how the core works/what it does.
  • You may only request once at a time, please wait until your request is done before making another.
  • A Pokémon can only be requested if it's listed somewhere on the Viability Rankings thread. Exceptions can be made with prior approval from the host.
  • Please do not ask us to make use of unviable Pokemon / cores.
  • If you'd like to change one of your requests please contact the host beforehand.
  • Please don't pester any builder to build quickly, we all have our busy lives and we're doing this completely voluntarily.
  • We reserve the rights to claim a request as unworkable and not list it if it features a impractical core or an awkward set.
:gholdengo: Building Applications :gholdengo:

If you wish to become a member of the Lab staff, please send the hosts a forum PM containing an application that follows the format below. Bear in mind that demand for builders will fluctuate based on the volume of requests and the activity level of the Lab's current staff.
1. Be knowledgeable regarding National Dex and the current metagame
2. Provide evidence demonstrating your skills as a builder (RMT Team Showcase, examples of successful teams, etc.)
3. ~A paragraph in length describing how you build / what playstyle you are best at building (offense, stall, or balance, to be precise)
You must clearly demonstrate to the hosts that you deserve consideration as a builder. If you do not provide enough useful information to successfully enable us to judge your suitability for the position, your application will be declined.

Builder applications are OPEN. Please PM me so I can review the applications.

I think this is pretty good. You can wear down kyurems main answers like pex or mega-sciz through hazard chip, or trick some of them with valiant. Also moltres, lowkick mega-tar and valiant should be able to handle gambit.

Btw i made it tera-dark, like you requested, but i think something like tera-flying, fairy or steel would be much better.

Band Valiant is a really powerful and fast wallbreaker that struggle against zapdos and toxapex. I think Slowbro makes a good partner for valiant as he can pivot with teleport in order to bring banded Valiant on the field as well as supporting him with future sight (for pex for example).

I built some MAlt semi stall for you. This wisp set doesn't have much value outside of defensively oriented teams, but I do think it's pretty decent actually. Standard regen core for longevity and two hazard control options that can deal with Gholdengo so you don't get stacked on. Confide Toss Chansey is a pretty good catch all for the random tera CM users. Even taunt Fini should lose 1v1 if you sack Weavile to knock off lefties first. Punishment Weavile helps with revenge killing in general too. If the opponent isn't smart and preemptively teras their Fini it will OHKO with tera dark punishment after two CMs. Easily kills stuff like CM Hatterene, Manaphy, and Gliscor too. Biggest weakness of this team is probably just the Kyurem matchup, but you can improve it a bit by dropping ice shard for triple axel. Chansey can also confide through sub since it's a sound-based move and then just switch around to stall out PP.
Tera type on Pex is variable, grass on Tusk is so it can help with rain while still being an electric switch in.

hi im ngl bro i do not see (and have asked others who also do not see) the value in band val over specs, and i will gladly make and pass a specs val one instead if you dont mind (functions the same, just swap the moves and item to specs), although if your insistent on band do explain the value of it to me in dms ( aadem on discord) or pm me on smogon, and im happy to accomodate

Well for band, one reason make it worth, it is surely knock off which is an amazing move to make progress with but i will gladly take the specs one

hi im done w this
https://pokepast.es/616b88aebdbcf7ae

ok im ngl u have NO IDEA how hard it was for me to build this holy, these two mons r like incompatible for my building style its crazy but i managed to make it work !!!

okay so, let me explain the evs and the sets. ival is traditional specs with dbond last instead of extra coverage for two reasons, mega tar already traps both clod and ghold which are the two things which would require ival to run a coverage option for them, and it also is insanely useful for last minute sacks on hard-to-beat mons like gliscor and cresselia which cause you trouble, trick is also an option btw but dbond sounds more fun. tera fighting colbur press slowbro lures and kos gambit, and is also the check for it lategame / on sd sets, fs enables val to clear a lot and makes it more productive vs fat. bulky scarf lando here again serves as a backup kingambit check, hp evs let it live +1 volc flame, and the speed is for +1 mgyara, tera fairy is for gambit sucker, rest is self explanatory. heatran is mixdef flamebody (credits to ChrisPBacon for this and the slowbro set), with wisp to again punish gambit so you wont be put in sucker / tera 5050s, as well as be a last ditch effort to check it worst come to worst. speed is for ghold, spd for yard sands, and physdef dump. mega tar is ur resident ghost resist and pult check. standard overall, superpower to lure and ko gambit. av torn also standard, you can run superpower on it as well to lure and ko gambit but idt its needed.

team overall on paper would struggle vs gambit but in practice u never let it in and can always revenge / threaten / lure it out so ur good. biggest threat is bulky tera wincons like glisc cress garg but matchup is very much playable.

hf w the team

ps
Well for band, one reason make it worth, it is surely knock off which is an amazing move to make progress with but i will gladly take the specs one
knock is one of the only things i saw value with it but

idt theres anything u would knock that u wouldnt rather just attack, u shadow ball ghold, moonblast/tbolt the torns, tbolt the pex, knock really just isnt that big for it, or at least big enough to justify band > specs.

Thank you so much for the team! This looks great and I like the cool confide and punishment sets as well. I'll definitely try this out.

Because some guy said in the ND room that kingambit is good on every playstyle except stall, I want to make a defensive stall or fat team that uses kingambit as a pursuit trapper.

Preferable set, though black glasses would work.

Hello there again! Requesting a rain team with Tapu Lele

Tapu Lele @ Terrain Extender
Ability: Psychic Surge
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Tera Type: Psychic
Timid Nature
- Psychic
- Moonblast

Swampert @ Swampertite
Ability: Damp
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Waterfall
- Earthquake
- Ice Punch
- Flip Turn

You maybe wondering why it's exactly have to Tapu Lele instead of Tapu Koko with its Thunder?
It's because of Lele's Psychic Terrain for priority safe, so nobody could outspeed Swampert. Pure speed, baby)
Thanx for your attention.

Hello there again! I'd like to request a Balance/BO team with MegaCham and Ferrothorn

Medicham @ Medichamite
Ability: Pure Power
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature

Ferrothorn @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Iron Barbs
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Tera Type: Ghost
Relaxed Nature

- Power Whip
- Thunder Wave
- Leech Seed

The reason why i chose Ferrthorn as a core partner is that while MegaCham is sure deadly, it's not the fastest wallbreaker, therefore Ferrothorn serves as a punisher for faster revengekillers.

Tnx for your attention
