Overview
########
"[Pros]
<ul>
<li>Gourgeist is a great spinblocker with a useful Ghost / Grass typing.</li>
<li>It possesses solid physical bulk and useful resistances to common physical moves.</li>
<li>Gourgeist-Small is surprisingly fast, able to land a fast Will-O-Wisp on common physical attackers such as max Speed Jolly Scizor, Breloom, Mamoswine, Excadrill, and Lucario.</li>
<li>The Small forme makes efficient use of Leech Seed and Pain Split for healing.</li>
<li>Frisk allows Gourgeist to scout opponent's sets.</li>
</ul>
[Cons]
<ul>
<li>Gourgeist-S has poor special bulk.</li>
<li>It's weak to common special attacks and Pursuit.<li>
<li>Gourgeist-S has low offensive stats.</li>
<li>Fast Taunt or Substitute users ruin Gourgeist-S.</li>
<li>It faces obvious competition for a teamslot from Gourgeist-H, which is bulkier overall.</li>
<li>Gourgeist also faces heavy competition from Trevenant, which has more reliable recovery with Harvest.</li>
</ul>"

move 3: Protect / Pain Split
move 4: Seed Bomb
ability: Frisk
item: Leftovers
evs: 252 HP / 72 Def / 184 Spe
nature: Jolly
Moves
========
- Will-O-Wisp allows Gourgeist-S to cripple physical threats, such as Breloom, or Scizor.
- Leech Seed is used to inflict damage while slowly restoring health.
- Pain Split provides a somewhat reliable recovery move, while draining away the opponent's health.
- Protect is an option to scout out moves, or to stall out PP.
- Seed Bomb is a reliable STAB move.
Set Details
========
- A Jolly nature with the proper Speed EV spread, ensures Gourgeist-S to outspeed max Speed Scizor, Mamoswine, and Lucario.
- Frisk is used to scout out item sets. Isnomisia should never be used, as sleep-inducing moves other than Spore are uncommon.
- Leftovers is needed for passive healing.
Usage Tips
========
- Gourgeist-S can switch into physical threats with ease, then crippling them with a Will-O-Wisp.
- It can switch into a predicted Rapid Spin, preventing the opponent removing their hazards.
Team Options
========
- Teammates such as Skarmory or Foretress who appreciate their hazards not getting spun away, would like Gourgeist-S as a Spin Blocker.
Other Options
########
- A Choice Scarf set with trick can be used, but it is generally outclassed by Rotom-W.
- Gourgeist-S has a great special movepool, but has awful special attack.
- Destiny Bond can be used, but it is too slow to take advantage of it.
Checks & Counters
########
- Special attackers such as Gengar, Greninja, Noivern, and Mega Charizard Y can easily defeat Gourgeist with their super effective STABs.
- Venusaur/Roserade resists Seed Bomb, and is immune to Leech Seed and Toxic, making it a great switch-in.
- Fast Taunt users such as Talonflame or Crobat can easily render it useless.
