Electrode

[OVERVIEW]

Electrode is the second fastest relevant Pokemon in NeverUsed with a blistering Speed stat of 140 that allows it to outspeed many threats in the metagame. This, combined with a great offensive typing in Electric and a decent base Special Attack, makes Electrode a great revenge killer and late-game cleaner. Electrode's abilities, Soundproof and Aftermath, allow it to have some offensive utility in being able to switch into sound moves like Swellow's Boomburst and to chip away at physical attackers that KO it, respectively. However, Electrode is still not very strong, even if it runs a Modest nature, making it difficult to break through specially defensive Pokemon and common Electric-type checks suchy as Lanturn and Steelix. Due to its limited movepool, Electrode is forced to miss out on certain Electric-type checks, relying on Hidden Power to take on most others. It also faces competition from the other Electric-types and fast Pokemon in general, including Rotom, Swellow, and Floatzel, as they usually have more utility or better coverage than Electrode.

Moves
========

Thunderbolt is Electrode's main STAB move. Volt Switch allows Electrode to gain momentum against the opposing team and to wear down bulkier Pokemon by repeatedly using the move and keeping up pressure against them. Hidden Power Grass is vital to hit Lanturn and Gastrodon, which otherwise wall Electrode completely, while also hitting Ground-types such as Rhydon and Golurk. Signal Beam provides coverage against Grass- and Psychic-types such as Shiftry and Mesprit. Hidden Power Ground is a decent option over Hidden Power Grass, hitting Steelix hard while still dealing with Lanturn. Hidden Power Water loses out on hitting Lanturn, but it can damage Steelix and Rhydon significantly. However, both of these moves lose out on hitting Gastrodon.

Set Details
========

Maximum Special Attack investment with a Modest nature is used to boost Electrode's relatively low power, while maximum Speed investment allows Electrode to outspeed all unboosted base 115 Speed Pokemon and below. A Timid nature can still be used to outspeed Swellow, Adamant Choice Scarf Kabutops and Shiftry, and Jolly Rhydon after a Rock Polish, but it loses out on much-needed power. Soundproof is chosen to block Boomburst from Choice Specs Swellow, making Electrode an effective switch-in to it. It also makes Electrode immune to Aurorus and Pyroar's Hyper Voice, but it needs proper prediction in order to switch into them. Aftermath is a secondary ability to be used with a Timid nature that can punish physical attackers for KOing Electrode, but switching into Choice Specs Swellow and other users of sound-based moves is usually more worth it. Life Orb is chosen over Choice Specs, as Electrode prefers the ability to switch between moves over the additional power.

Usage Tips
========

Electrode should be used as a revenge killer and late-game cleaner, as its base 140 Speed lets it outrun fast Pokemon such as Floatzel and hit them hard with its STAB moves or a coverage move. Electrode isn't very bulky, so try to bring it in after a teammate has fainted or on a resisted hit. Thanks to Soundproof, Electrode can switch into sound-based moves such as Boomburst, making it a great switch-in to Choice Specs Swellow and a decent switch-in to other users of these moves such as Choice Specs Aurorus. However, it can be risky to do so, as the Swellow user can use U-turn to bring out something that can prevent Electrode from gaining offensive momentum, such as Lanturn. Using Volt Switch as much as you can early-game is useful to gain momentum and chip away at specially bulky Pokemon. Try to use Electrode's coverage moves when the opponent has the appropriate target for them, such as on a predicted switch into Gastrodon.

Team Options
========

Wallbreakers that can break down walls that Electrode can't beat, such as Abomasnow and Magmortar, make for good teammates, as Electrode's high Speed gives it a good matchup against the offensive teams with which these wallbreakers can struggle. Abomasnow synergizes especially nicely with Electrode, as it beats Lanturn and Gastrodon, resists Ground-type attacks, and breaks down Hariyama with Wood Hammer. Pokemon that can pivot into Electrode via U-turn or Volt Switch such as Scyther can form a nice VoltTurn core with Electrode. Scyther also beats Hariyama, one of Electrode's best counters. Teammates that can capitalize on Electrode's weaknesses, such as Mismagius to deal with bulky Ground-types or Lilligant to deal with Lanturn, make for good teammates. Lilligant is a great partner for Electrode, as it deals with Electrode's worst enemies, Lanturn, Steelix, and Gastrodon, and it can use all of them as potential setup fodder. Meanwhile, Electrode revenge kills Flying-types and can wear down Magmortar by repeatedly using Volt Switch on it. Samurott is one of the best partners for Electrode, as it benefits heavily from the revenge killing of several threats it hates fighting, such as Swellow, and can also wallbreak for Electrode with its Life Orb set.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

A Rain Dance lead set with Damp Rock can be used to make use of Electrode's amazing Speed stat and take advantage of Electrode's STAB Thunder, but it faces competition from other Rain setters such as Liepard, which has Prankster to set up Rain Dance with ease, and Mesprit, which can provide additional utility via Stealth Rock and a Fighting resist. Toxic is an option to cripple many of Electrode's counters on the switch, but Electrode cannot fit it onto any of its movesets. Taunt can be used over Signal Beam to prevent walls from using their recovery moves, but it doesn't provide any coverage, unlike Signal Beam, and Electrode usually doesn't have enough power to bust through walls without losing a lot of its health in the process.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Bulky Ground-types**: Ground-types such as Steelix and Piloswine are immune to Electrode's STAB moves and don't take much from Hidden Power Grass either. However, some of them, such as Rhydon and Gastrodon, must fear Hidden Power Grass, as they are 4x weak to it.

**Lanturn**: Lanturn is immune to Electrode's STAB moves thanks to Volt Absorb, and Hidden Power Grass is only a 4HKO against it, making it an effective switch-in to Electrode. Lanturn can also wear Electrode down with Scald or Volt Switch, which can really take a toll on Electrode on top of its Life Orb recoil.

**Specially Defensive Pokemon**: Specially defensive walls such as Assault Vest Hariyama and Mega Audino can easily switch into Electrode, and Mega Audino can Wish off the damage or take advantage of it by setting up Calm Mind.

**Choice Scarf Pokemon**: Choice Scarf users such as Mesprit and Haunter can outspeed Electrode and revenge kill it due to Electrode's frailty.

[OVERVIEW]
  • The second fastest relevant Pokemon in NU, allowing Electrode to outspeed and revenge kill many threats. name some of the most notable ones
  • Can afford to run a Modest Nature due to having such high Speed.
  • Has a good ability in Soundproof allowing it to stop Boomburst Swellow and Chatot in their tracks.
  • Is not very strong, even with a Modest Nature, making it difficult for Electrode to break through special walls such as Hariyama.
  • Faces competition from the other Electric types of NU, as they either have more power or bulk than Electrode. Be a bit more specific about what Rotom and Rotom-S have over Electrode, i.e. secondary typings + Wisp + Levitate. Also make sure to mention heavy competition from other fastmons like Sceptile and Swellow.
  • Can be outsped by Scarfers such as Haunter, even with it's massive 140 Speed stat. I don't think this is worth mentioning since the whole point of Scarfers is to outspeed every unboosted threat

Moves
========

  • Thunderbolt is Electrode's main STAB move, and it is powerful and spammable as well. Tbolt's not really so much powerful and spammable as it is reliable, at least on a mon as weak as Electrode, so I'd reword that
  • Volt Switch allows Electrode to gain momentum against the opposing team, wearing down the opposition.
  • Hidden Power Grass is vital to hit Lanturn, who otherwise walls Electrode, and also hits Ground-types like Rhydon and Golurk.
  • Signal Beam provides coverage against Grass and Psychic types, like Sceptile and Mesprit.
  • Taunt can be used to prevent walls from using their moves, but it doesn't provide much coverage, unlike Signal Beam. move this to OO
  • Hidden Power Ground is a decent option over Hidden Power Grass, hitting Steelix hard while still hitting Lanturn.
Mention HP Water too, loses out on Lanturn but retains the ability to hit Steelix and Rhydon
Set Details

  • Electrode isn't very bulky, so try to bring it in after a teammate has fainted or on a resisted hit.
You need a lot more detail on this section. This is way too generic right now, talk about when to use certain moves in different matchups and scenarios

Team Options

  • Wallbreakers that can break down walls that Electrode can't beat, such as Abomasnow and Magmortar, make for good teammates as Electrode's high Speed let it have a good matchup against offense teams, which these wallbreakers can struggle with. Abomasnow synergizes especially nicely with Eletrode, as it beats Lanturn, resistds Ground-type attacks, and breaks down Hariyama with Wood Hammer.
  • Pokemon that can pivot into Electrode via U-Turn or Volt Switch such as Scyther can form a nice VoltTurn core with Electrode, earing down the opposing team. Scyther also beats Hariyama, one of Electrode's biggest counters.
  • Bulky Pokemon that can take the hits that Electrode can't take, like Assault Vest Hariyama and Mega Audino, synergize well with Electrode. Mega Audino can also provide Wish support for Electrode. ?_? you should really know that Wish passing to Electrode is just silly lol, this is always gonna be found on an offensive builds. Momentum saps like Audino don't pair well with it at all.
And similar to the above, you need to be more specific. What are specific mons that Electrode struggles with and what can help beat them? What mons particularly enjoy the support that Electrode can bring?

Errie Impulse+Magnet Rise to neutralize grounds with Toxic+Magnet Rise to Stall out grounds. For example, Rhydon is forced to use a Rock move, Sandslash neutralized and unable to touch Electrode aside from Knock Off.

Electrode
Item: Leftovers
Ability: Aftermath(H)/Soundproof(For Aurorus)
- Thunderbolt
- Toxic
- Eerie Impulse
- Magnet Rise

This strategy is countered by Steelix 100% though sadly. I think I will edit it and add EVS soon, for now 252 HP, 252 spe,Timid.

Sorry, this set is completely unviable and gimmicky and will not be included anywhere in the analysis. Electrode absolutely needs a Life Orb and the coverage moves on the current set so it can actually do stuff that it has in its small niche like revenge Sceptile and hit the likes of Lanturn and Rhydon with Hidden Power Grass. For such a weak Pokemon, a mono attacking set simply will not work on Electrode.

You talk about bulky Pokemon being good partners for Electrode despite being momentum sinks, but you also mention that Electrode is best on offensive teams. Perhaps change this line to something like "Electrode's teammates should be able to capitalize on foes that Electrode can't beat, such as Mismagius to deal with bulky Ground-types with Will-O-Wisp, or Lilligant to set up on the likes of Lanturn."

Otherwise looks good.

Added Gastrodon to targets of HP Grass and edited some typos and made Aurorus' and Pyroar's Hyper Voices opportunities for Soundproof Electrode to switch in.

Overview
Remove base stats in the first sentence. Add in how it struggles to deal with Lanturn and Steelix; it can run HP Water to break past the former, but then it leaves it walled by Gastrodon. It's not so much bulk as it is utility/coverage that the other Electric-types offer over Electrode. Rotom has Will-O-Wisp, Ghost STAB, and better typing, while Manectric has Overheat to easily rip through Steelix.

Set Details
I'd deslash Aftermath because it's not nearly as useful as Soundproof. When you do mention Aftermath, be sure to note that it should only be used with Timid, otherwise Electrode is revenged by either of the Swellow sets.

Usage Tips
Although Electrode can switch into Swellow's Boomburst, I'd highlight how it can be risky doing so in a lot scenarios because the Swellow user can U-turn into something that keeps Electrode from maintaining offensive momentum. In situations where the opponent cannot risk you staying in on a Swellow's U-turn, that's when I'd say its generally better to hard switch into Boomburst.

Team Options
Lilligant should definitely be listed here, as it deals with 3 of Electrodes worst enemies being Lanturn, Steelix, and Gastrodon, and depending on movesets, can all use them as potential setup fodder. Electrode in return revenges Flying-types and wears down Magmortar by repeatedly Volt Switching on it.

Finally, other Pokemon can be used to fufill Electrode's role, such as Swellow and Floatzel, which have more power than it, despite not having such high Speed.

Moves
========

Thunderbolt is Electrode's main STAB move,(RC) having decent neutral coverage and hitting Flying and Water-types hard. (this doesn't tell you anything that you shouldn't already know, and it's not why you'd use Thunderbolt on Electrode; just saying it's the main STAB is good enough) Volt Switch allows Electrode to gain momentum against the opposing team and to wear down bulkier Pokemon like Mega Audino by repeatedly using the move and keeping up pressure against them. (idt an example is necessary here, it applies to literally all bulky Pokemon that Electrode doesn't outright beat) Hidden Power Grass is vital to hit Lanturn and Gastrodon, which otherwise wall Electrode completely, while also hitting Ground-types such as Rhydon and Golurk. Signal Beam provides coverage against Grass- and Psychic-types like such as Shiftry and Mesprit. Hidden Power Ground is a decent option over Hidden Power Grass, hitting Steelix hard while still dealing with Lanturn. Hidden Power Water loses out on hitting Lanturn, but it can damage Steelix and Rhydon significantly. However, both of these moves lose out on hitting Gastrodon,(RC) making it a reliable switch-in to Electrode.

Set Details
========

Maximum Special Attack investment with a Modest nature is used to boost up Electrode's relatively low power, while maximum Speed investment allows Electrode to outspeed all unboosted base 115 Speed Pokemon and below. A Timid nature can still be used to outspeed Swellow, Adamant Choice Scarf Kabutops and Shiftry, and Jolly Rhydon after a Rock Polish, but it loses out on much-needed power. Soundproof is chosen to block Boombursts Boomburst from Choice Specs Swellow, making Electrode an effective switch-in to it. Life Orb is chosen over Choice Specs, as Electrode needs prefers the ability to switch between moves over the additional power,(RC) and Life Orb still gives Electrode a much-needed power boost.

Usage Tips
========

However, it can be risky to do so, as the Swellow user can use U-turn to bring out something that can prevent Electrode from gaining offensive momentum, like such as Lanturn. Using Volt Switch as much as you can early-game is useful to gain momentum and chip away at specially bulky Pokemon. Try to use Electrode's coverage moves when the opponent has the appropriate target for them, such as on a predicted switch into Gastrodon.

Team Options
========

Wallbreakers that can break down walls that Electrode can't beat, such as Abomasnow and Magmortar, make for good teammates, as Electrode's high Speed let it have gives it a good matchup against the offense offensive teams,(RC) with which these wallbreakers can struggle with. Abomasnow synergizes especially nicely with Electrode, as it beats Lanturn and Gastrodon, resists Ground-type attacks, and breaks down Hariyama with Wood Hammer. Pokemon that can pivot into Electrode via U-turn or Volt Switch such as Scyther can form a nice VoltTurn core with Electrode,(RC) wearing down the opposing team. Scyther also beats Hariyama, one of Electrode's biggest best counters. Teammates that can capitalize on Electrode's weaknesses, such as Mismagius to deal with bulky Ground-types or Lilligant to deal with Lanturn, make for good teammates. Lilligant is a great partner for Electrode, as it deals with Electrode's worst enemies,(AC) being Lanturn, Steelix, and Gastrodon, and it can use all of them as potential setup fodder.(end sentence) while Meanwhile,(AC) Electrode revenge kills Flying-types and can wear down Magmortar by repeatedly using Volt Switch on it. Samurott is one of the best partners for Electrode, as it benefits heavily from the revenge killing of several threats it hates fighting, such as Swellow, and can also wallbreak for Electrode with its Life Orb set.

Other Options
=============

A Rain Dance lead set with Damp Rock can be used to make use of Electrode's amazing Speed stat and take advantage of Electrode's STAB Thunder, but it faces competition from other Rain setters like such as Liepard, which has Prankster to set up Rain Dance with ease, and Mesprit, which can provide additional utility via Stealth Rock and a Fighting resist. Toxic is an option to cripple many of Electrode's counters on the switch, but Electrode cannot fit it onto any of its movesets. Taunt can be used over Signal Beam to prevent walls from using their recovery moves, but it doesn't provide much any coverage, unlike Signal Beam, and Electrode usually doesn't have enough power to bust through walls without losing a lot of its health in the process.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Bulky Ground-types**: Ground-types like such as Steelix and Piloswine are immune to Electrode's STAB moves and don't take much from Hidden Power Grass as well either. However, some of them, such as Rhydon and Gastrodon, must fear for Hidden Power Grass, as they are 4x weak to it.

**Lanturn**: Lanturn is immune to Electrode's STAB moves thanks to Volt Absorb, and Hidden Power Grass only hits it for is only a 4HKO against it, making it an effective switch-in to Electrode. Lanturn can also wear Electrode down with Scald or Volt Switch, which can really take a toll on Electrode with on top of its Life Orb recoil.

**Specially Defensive Pokemon**: Specially defensive walls like such as Assault Vest Hariyama and Mega Audino can easily switch into Electrode thanks to it being relatively weak, and Mega Audino can Wish off the damage or set take advantage of it by setting up Calm Mind as well.

**Choice Scarf Pokemon**: Choice Scarf users such as Mesprit and Haunter can outspeed Electrode and revenge kill it due to Electrode's frailty.

You go into a lot of detail in the Overview, which is unnecessary. Your Overview is where you want to give a brief rundown of what a Pokemon does in a tier and how well it functions in its role(s). You don't need to name specific checks and counters or go into great detail as to why another particular Pokemon might be better.

Most of my edits were for flow more than they were grammar errors, so gold star for that. As you write on and outside of Smogon, try to read over your work when you're finished. There's no better way to know if something sounds awkward than by hearing it read aloud, even if it's by yourself.
