- Darmanitan's Sheer-Force boosted Flare Blitz is so powerful that the other moves are on the set are almost unnecessary. Superpower and Earthquake give it coverage on Rock-types that resist Flare Blitz, while Darmanitan 2HKOes most Water-types with Flare Blitz anyway.
- Choice Scarf makes Darmanitan faster than anything except other scarfers, and Flare Blitz OHKOes the vast majority of opposing Pokemon even unboosted.
- Weather attackers such as Kingdra and Excadrill can outspeed and OHKO Darmanitan before it can attack thanks to their abilities, so Abomasnow can make an excellent partner for Darmanitan, setting up hail to cancel out any other weather. Abomasnow has excellent offensive synergy with Darmanitan, using Grass Knot or Wood Hammer to take out the Water-types which threaten Darmanitan, while Darmanitan's Flare Blitz takes out the Steel-types which threaten Abomasnow.
