Clefable is one of the few viable offensive Stealth Rock users in the Ubers metagame, which is further supported by its fantastic ability in Magic Guard, preventing Clefable from taking damage from status moves such as Toxic, entry hazards, and Life Orb recoil. Life Orb provides Clefable with the offensive power it requires to function as a wallbreaker against the main defensive staples and helps it to apply pressure, keeping up Stealth Rock on the opposing side of the field due to its good offensive movepool options. Moonblast is able to OHKO Zamazenta while also 2HKOing defensive Pokemon such as Quagsire and Hippowdon, and it also pressures Eternatus for a 2HKO after Stealth Rock. Flamethrower allows Clefable to deal with common defensive Steel-types such as Ferrothorn, but mostly importantly Corviknight, while also being able to 2HKO Excadrill and Zacian-C that may try to switch in. Moonlight allows Clefable to take advantage of passive Pokemon, safely healing up on them and increasing its longevity. 60 Speed EVs are allocated in order for Clefable to outspeed uninvested Corviknight, thus preventing Corviknight from Defogging against it and keeping Stealth Rock up on the opposing side of the field.

Clefable struggles against fast and strong attackers such as Sludge Bomb Eternatus and Zacian-C, which are capable of OHKOing it. Tyranitar and Umbreon make good options for checking Eternatus. Corviknight is an ideal teammate for Clefable, as it is able to function greatly as a pivot, getting Clefable in safely against slower or passive Pokemon while also providing a check to Excadrill and Zacian-C. Trappers such as Gothitelle and Choice Scarf Dugtrio are able to trap and remove Eternatus for Clefable; Dugtrio is also capable of trapping Zacian-C and Excadrill.
