Meowscarada as an incredibly important offensive presence in the metagame, using Protean with its excellent Attack stat to consistently threaten OHKOs and possessing incredible 123 base Speed that allows it to outrun most unboosted opponents. Choice Band and Choice Scarf are both natural compliments to its Ability, improving its focus on doing damage with a single type, and both items use the same set due to how similarly they play. Choice Band allows it to threaten many more defensive switch-ins with 2HKOs it otherwise couldn't, such as physically defensive Clefable and Slowking-Galar, while Choice Scarf lets it outspeed every relevant threat except Choice Scarf Darkrai and Booster Energy Iron Boulder, giving it the ability to threaten Dragapult and Deoxys-Speed. Flower Trick is an effective 105 BP move with a niche secondary effect of ignoring Defense rises, and together with Knock Off forms a unique offensive profile that cuts down many common defensive answers like Dondozo, Great Tusk, and Gholdengo. Knock Off in particular is excellent on Meowscarada since it can remove items from the defensive switches that respond to it and leave them more susceptible to being worn down over time. Triple Axel is a fantastic new addition to its kit, allowing it to threaten common defensive answers like Gliscor and Clodsire, but also the new OU staple Raging Bolt. U-Turn is a pivot that keeps up momentum and allows the user to reactively switch out to an answer for whatever the opponent uses to answer Meowscarada, and also provides crucial damage against the many Dark types in the tier with its respectable BP and Protean granting Bug STAB. In particular, U-Turn is a guaranteed OHKO against Weavile even with a Choice Scarf. Meowscarada's Tera type is straightforward, using either Grass or Dark to enhance one of its native STAB types or Fire to survive a hit of Fire, Fairy, or Ice damage. Choice Scarf users may appreciate the boosted power of Tera Grass or Dark more, while Choice Band users may not need the extra power and would rather use Tera Fire for a one-time panic button defensive option.
Meowscarada pairs best with bulky pivots that can respond to the opponent's switch-ins, such as Skeledirge, Dondozo, or Ting-Lu. Being locked into using a single move makes it susceptible to revenge killing, so teammates who can take a hit meant for it are a must. Skeledirge is able to sit in front of and threaten common answers to Meowscarada like Zamazenta and Skarmory, while also resisting Meowscarada's weaknesses to Fairy, Bug, Ice, Fighting, and Fire. Ting-Lu provides valuable support setting hazards that allow Choice Scarf users to pick up extra KOs from opponents being worn down, something that synergizes well with Knock Off removing the opponent's Heavy-Duty Boots. The biggest obstacles for this set are most of the Steel types in the tier, who resist three of its moves and are neutral to the fourth. In particular, Meowscarada performs poorly against Skarmory, who can heal off the damage it takes with Roost and discourages hitting it with Triple Axel by holding a Rocky Helmet, and Archaludon, whose Stamina Ability makes attacking it consecutively risky and more difficult over time. Against these walls in its way, Meowscarada appreciates the help of teammates like Iron Valiant, Skeledirge, and Enamorus who can attack both these threats super effectively from their lower Special Defense stat. Choice Band users are still outsped by a few notable threats such as Darkrai, Deoxys-Speed, and Dragapult, so partners with other forms of Speed control, such as priority moves from Kingambit or Iron Boulder using Booster Energy, can threaten these Pokemon for it.
