Gen 4 Champions of Kanto

Campeões de Kanto.jpg

First, the rules: It's only allowed pokémons of Kanto; isn't allowed itens; it's only allowed moves of gen3, despite we play on gen4; moves obtained via Game Cube games or events are also isn't allowed; the pokémons are around lv 60-70.

Great Ball (Electrode)
Ability: Static
Level: 65
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 4 Atk / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Mild Nature
- Explosion
- Hidden Power [Grass]
- Thunderbolt
- Substitute

First of all, I lead with Electrode because it's the most fast pokémon of Kanto, normaly I started with Substitute to see what the foe will do, then I can explode my self if was a dangerous threat or just go to thunderbolts; It have Hidden power to cover Rhydons and Golems.

Boi Zebu (Tauros)
Ability: Intimidate
Level: 60
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Earthquake
- Return
- Pursuit (Attract)
- Rock Tomb

I thought Tauros is the best pokémon of Kanto and need to be on my team, he is a very comum set, I used Rock Tomb to drop speed to my Butterfree come after and put fast enemies to sleep and I used to have Attract for fun, but I change it for Pursuit to cover Gengars.

Manteiga Livre (Butterfree) (M)
Ability: Compound Eyes
Level: 70
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 8 HP / 248 SpA / 4 SpD / 248 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Sleep Powder
- Stun Spore
- Psychic
- Silver Wind

With 99,75% of accuracy in sleep powder, it's a very usefull pokémon. I put Silver Wind in order to hope for the ominus boost and Psychic is the best move of Kanto since there is no dark type.

Jurupari (Hypno) (F)
Ability: Insomnia
Level: 64
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SpA / 4 SpD
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Counter
- Thunder Wave
- Psychic
- Shadow Ball

Since there is no dark type in Kanto, Psychic pokémons are the best type; I put Shadow Ball to deal with other psychic pokémons and Counter to check Snorlax.

Sua Mãe (Dragonair) (F)
Ability: Shed Skin
Level: 70
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 8 HP / 252 Atk / 248 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Dragon Dance
- Waterfall
- Outrage
- Attract

After a lot of calculations I conclude Dragonair is way better than Dragonite, first in it's tier Dragonair is 10 lvs over Dragonite; Dragonair have a better ability and isn't weak 4 times against ice, so it can easily survive Ice Beams and Ice Punchs.
I put Attract because a lack of a good 4th move, since it doesn't learn Earthquack.

Hezbollah (Weezing)
Ability: Levitate
Level: 65
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SpD
Sassy Nature
- Explosion
- Thunderbolt (Flamethrower)
- Will-O-Wisp
- Sludge Bomb

As a bulk defensive pokémon to I switch in when I'm in troubles I choiced Weezing. Some battles I used thunder bolt, others flamethrower... And it's explode a lot, that's why I called it Hezbollah lol.

Are Mewtwo and Mew allowed in this tournament? They are statistically the best Kanto pokemon and would likely be on most if not all teams if they were allowed.
Also, what do you mean by Dragonair being 10 levels above Dragonite? Is there a rule saying Dragonair has to be level 70 and Dragonite has to be level 60?

Are Mewtwo and Mew allowed in this tournament?
No, I forgot to tell that rule; Mew, Mewtwo, Articuno, Zapdos and Moltres are banned
(it may be obtainable via tournament prizes, but untill know anyone got it)

Is there a rule saying Dragonair has to be level 70 and Dragonite has to be level 60?
Yes, the tier is bellow:
Pokémons on red will be avaible soon, but for it's championship was only allowed Kanto's pokémons

1. Replace Dragonair with Dragonite. It has much better stats in all areas even at level 60 compared to level 70(see image linked below for proof), and has access to Earthquake and Fire Punch to hit Steel-types and a much better movepool. It also has a much higher attack stat, letting it get many notable KOs that Dragonair doesnt.
2. This format likely has strong similarities to gen 1 OU. In Gen 1 OU, the psychic type special attackers Alakazam, Starmie, Jynx and Jolteon are all excellent pokemon. This means you need a solid special wall who can take Psychic type hits. I reccomend using a Bulky Snorlax or a Chansey over Hypno for this purpose. Snorlax may be better here as it is more offensively threatening and learns Self-Destruct.
3. Consider running a physically defensive spread on Weezing in order to better take physical hits from the likes of Tauros, Snorlax, Dodrio and many others.
4. Butterfree is a 1-trick pony in OU, it's pretty much useless after it sleeps something. I reccomend replacing it with Exeggutor, who has much better offensive and defensive stats, also has Sleep Powder and Stun Spore, has STAB on Psychic-type moves and has access to Explosion. Exeggutor is a much more threatening pokemon offensively than Butterfree. If Exeggutor is not to your liking, also consider Venusaur over Butterfree.

I wonder a lot who is better and I'm pretty sure Dragonair is superior to Dragonite because it has more speed. (184 over 172). And with an Outrage a Dragonair definitily kill other Dragonite.
Also, Dragonair resists an Ice Bean or/and an Ice Punch, what Dragonite can't resist.
Shed Skin is an usefull ability, I can perfomace Dragon Dances even if I'm paralyzed and hope for the Shed Skin activate.

But you are right Dragonair have a lack of Earthquack and Fire Punch, but steel isn't exactly a problem because just have Magneton. He resist both Watterfall and Outrage but I can deal with him with my Tauros who knows Earthquack.

Acctually I was avoiding lv 60 pokémons, that's why I choice Hypno as Psychic member; but I can do other teams with Alakazam, Starmie or Jynx being the Psychic member.
Alakazam I like to run with Encore, Calm Mind, Psychic and Recover; If I can lend a cool encore I can boost my self with calm minds and obliterate the enemy with Psychics (since in Kanto there is no dark type).
Starmie I like to use a full offensive: Thunderbolt, Ice Beam, Surf and Psychic.
Jynx need to have Lovely Kiss, but since there is sleep clause on Showdown, I just put one pokémon who knows sleep techniques, and it is Butterfree.

Okay, I will do that! I put on SDEF because I was considering using Will-O-Wisp.

I choice Butterfree because bug is my favorite type, to the team have something of me too. But I agree Butterfree is pretty useless and just can be used to put the foe to sleep and isn't the most faster pokémon to do so.

About Exeggutor, I made a team with him exactly with this moveset:
Explosion, Sleep Powder, Stun Spore and Psychic.

I posted also here in "Rate my Team" but anyone rated...

1. Dragonite still has notably higher attack, which would let it get many OHKOs and 2HKOs that Dragonair fails to get. Losing the 1v1 to Dragonair is unfortunate though. Dragonair is still 2x weak to Ice, meaning it still drops to STAB boosted Ice moves, though it does survive non- STAB ones. I can see why Dragonair may have some merits here, but I think Dragonite would still be better thanks to the much higher attack.
2. I wasn't recommending using one of the psychics on your team, I was recommending replacing Hypno with Snorlax or Chansey in order to better deal with the psychics.
