Rising Sun

Introduction
Hi everyone, I am Chessking345 and this is one of my better teams, built around Prankster Necrozma-Dusk-Mane.

Teambuilding Process

I started by building around the idea of Prankster + Taunt on a Shell Smash Pokemon to defeat Prankster Haze, one of the most common methods to stop Shell Smash. Necrozma-Dusk-Mane looked optimal as it can defeat non-Choice Scarf Imposter with Ultranecrozium Z, as well as having a solid typing against -ates.

Seeing that by forgoing Sunsteel Strike for Taunt Necrozma-DM struggles a lot against Dark Types, I added Xerneas. The standard Poison Heal set with Earth Power was pretty solid in my opinion and I didn't like Magma Storm for its hax and the abundance of Flash Fire Steels.

Standard Prankster Giratina checks powerful Band Attackers and provides a counter-measure vs set-up Pokemon.

Flash Fire Registeel handles Mega Diancie, Contrary Mega Mewtwo Y, along with Magma Storm Xerneas. Levitate is an option to check Sheer Force Mega Mewtwo Y but V-create -ates are pretty common. Registeel also adds Stealth Rock to the team. Topsy Turvy checks Contrary.

With a big Mega Gengar weakness as well as no hazard removal, Unaware Yveltal handles both. Dread Plate boosts Revelation Dance so Yveltal can Spin against Giratina more reliably.

Imposter Chansey is an excellent addition to every team and helps me Scout sets, especially for Necrozma-Dusk-Mane. Eviolite is picked to better switch-in to dangerous attackers like Sheer Force Mega Mewtwo Y.

Shuffled the team a bit so it isn't obvious that I was building around Necrozma-DM.

The Team

@

Xerneas @ Toxic Orb
Ability: Poison Heal
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 252 SpA / 252 SpD / 252 Spe
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Moonblast
- Earth Power
- Quiver Dance
- Lovely Kiss

Improofed by: Itself, Chansey can whirlwind away if needed

Poison Heal Xerneas is an amazing offensive Pokemon that is extremely threatening to all teams, especially offensive teams, thanks to its bulk, immunity to status, and ability to set-up easily. Toxic Orb and Poison Heal give Xerneas passive recovery and status immunity, allowing it to set-up easily against passive Pokemon. Moonblast is the main STAB move; Earth Power is coverage against resists, mainly steels but also including Primal Groudon; Quiver Dance is the set-up move of choice; and Lovely Kiss cripples opposing Pokemon, even if they check Xerneas it can open up opportunities for Necrozma-Dusk-Mane to set up. A Bold Nature is chosen to help against Poison Heal Mega Mewtwo X, which this team relies on Xerneas to check.

@

Chansey @ Eviolite
Ability: Imposter
Happiness: 80
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Def / 252 SpA / 252 SpD
Relaxed Nature
IVs: 0 Spe
- Metal Burst
- U-turn
- Whirlwind
- Soft-Boiled

Improofed by: ... its imposter, but everyone except Necrozma-DM can, Registeel punished hardest with Rocks
Imposter Chansey is my catch all answer, and keeps extremely threatening attackers in check (mainly Mega Mewtwo Y). Eviolite gives extra bulk, which is crucial as Chansey will be switching in often against powerful attackers. 80 happiness 3HKOs Kyurem-B with Frustration. Metal Burst reduces passivity; U-turn is great for pivoting; Whirlwind prevents Chansey from being set-up bait; and is especially important against Substitute, which Imposter fails on; Soft-Boiled keeps Chansey healthy.

@

Necrozma-Dusk-Mane @ Ultranecrozium Z
Ability: Prankster
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 192 Def / 252 SpA / 252 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Shell Smash
- Taunt
- Power Trip
- Photon Geyser

Improofed by: Itself if not against Choice Scarf, otherwise Yveltal handles easily
Necrozma-DM is my main offensive Pokemon, being able to sweep teams alone. Its excellent Attack and Bulk makes it very threatening and opens up opportunities to set-up and sweep. Ultranecrozium Z makes Necrozma much more powerful, as well as giving a boost in speed to defeat Imposter. Light that Burns the Sky also allows Necrozma to break durable walls that can take on +2 attacks. Prankster + Taunt prevents opposing Prankster Haze; Shell Smash is the best set-up move to boost both Attack and Speed; Power Trip offers general good damage; Photon Geyser is the stronger STAB move that combines well with Ultranecrozium Z. 192 Def EVs allows Necrozma-Ultra to OHKO Eviolite Imposter.

@

Giratina @ Safety Goggles
Ability: Prankster
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Def / 252 SpA / 252 SpD
Relaxed Nature
IVs: 0 Spe
- Core Enforcer
- Strength Sap
- Milk Drink
- Haze

Improofed by: Xerneas, Registeel, and Chansey
Giratina handles most physical wallbreakers, including Choice Band Mega Mewtwo X, with Prankster Strength Sap, as well as Belly Drum Pokemon, with Prankster Haze. Safety Goggles prevents Spore, and allows Giratina to check Poison Heal Regigigas reliably once. Core Enforcer removes abilities, and acts as an emergency answer to Poison Heal Regigigas; Strength Sap allows Giratina to defeat physical wallbreakers like Band Mega Mewtwo X and Kartana; Milk Drink prevents Magic Bounce, Dark types, and Dazzling/Queenly Majesty from preventing Giratina's recovery; Haze removes stat boosts, and isn't prevented by the above abilities/Dark types. Even though this set has no physically attacking moves, 252 EVs helps Giratina recover more against Imposter with Strength Sap.

@

Registeel @ Leftovers
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Def / 252 SpD
Sassy Nature
IVs: 0 Spe
- Anchor Shot
- Stealth Rock
- Topsy-Turvy
- Slack Off

Improofed by: Itself
Registeel is my -ate check, my Rocks setter, and my Contrary Mega Mewtwo Y check. Flash Fire gives an immunity to common fire type coverage moves. Leftovers is useful for negating chip damage and avoiding some 2HKOs. Anchor Shot OHKOs Mega Diancie and traps Imposter; Stealth Rock is a solid choice on this set, since Imposter cannot take advantage of it; Topsy-Turvy prevents Registeel from being set-up bait, and answers Contrary Mega Mewtwo Y well; Slack Off keeps Registeel healthy.

@

Yveltal @ Dread Plate
Ability: Unaware
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Def / 252 SpA / 252 SpD / 252 Spe
Sassy Nature
- Revelation Dance
- Spectral Thief
- Rapid Spin
- Roost

Improofed by: Xerneas, Registeel, Chansey
Yveltal counters most Mega Gengar sets, removes hazards, and checks some set-up special attackers that Giratina cannot handle. Unaware lets Yveltal handle set-up sweepers a lot more reliably, and is backed up by a resistance to Moongeist Beam and Photon Geyser. Dread Plate boosts Revelation Dance's power which makes it a lot easier to spin against Giratina. Revelation Dance is a strong STAB move that threatens most spinblockers and Mega Gengar; Spectral Thief steals stat boosts and denies set-up; Rapid Spin clears hazards and is solid on Yveltal since Ghosts are typically forced out; Roost keeps Yveltal healthy and can have the bonus of negating some weaknesses of flying, although it can make Yveltal weak to U-turn.

Threats to the Team
Poison Heal Regigigas: This team has like no answer to this threat, Giratina can switch-in and force it out once but after goggles get knocked you will need some luck with sleep turns. Registeel can answer it too but it hates sleep and you will be exposed to other threats. Try to play the game quickly and get an opportunity for NDM to sweep.

Counters to Xerneas and NDM: If the opponent team has counters to both of the attackers, such as Ho-oh and Unaware Dark, then it will be very difficult to break through. If you are seeing a lot of Dark types, consider running Sunsteel Strike over Photon Geyser or use the untested alternate version down below.

Choice Scarf Imposter: Scarf Imposter outspeeds Necrozma-Dusk Mane and denies a sweep, if you scouted for it you can play around it by going Yveltal every time. Main problem is getting a safe set-up for NDM in this match-up as you basically have to come in on a Pokemon with no pivoting moves.

Sheer Force Mega Mewtwo Y: Who even has an answer to this lol. Imposter checks it if healthy enough. Registeel handles variants that run Blue Flare over Earth Power for whatever reason. Generally just keep Imposter healthy and limit the amount of free switch-ins it can get.

Made this team recently and haven't really tested it, focuses around Nuzzle Xern providing a bit of speed control and hopefully getting the para on Imposter since you can't really set up with Dusk Mane without Imposter getting paraed. Searing Sunraze Smash hits like a truck though and helps you break bulky Unaware mons that previously you had to Ultra Burst to get LTBTS. Team probably needs more paralysis tbh. Use at own risk.
