"Shallow lake? What are you talking about? This lake is far too deep for anyone to dive in and swim to the bottom!"

Ok, maybe shallow was too strong a word. Still, Galega doesn't trust this trial one bit, and Hazel is making extremely cute faces. Pam sighs and takes out a Pokeball.

"Metang, use Telekinesis to drag the artifact out of the water and appease this trainer. Then put it right back in."

The Metang does as requested. You're pretty sure it is radiating disdain for you as a trainer, since you seem to be unable to command Hazel to do exactly what it is doing. Regardless, the artifact is now above water, and a quick swap from Hazel leaves it in your hand.

Success! +2 TC

"Oh come on! Does that count? Stay there, I'm getting someone more qualified to decide if you passed this trial."

As Pam gets reinforcements, you take a look at your prize. It is a very large jewel, almost larger than you can hold, with swirl patterns of all colors. One gray and yellow patch seems to be glowing brighter than the rest. Before too long, someone much older than Pam has come out to meet you.

"I am Soham, head of this village. While your method of obtaining the artifact was unorthodox, I have decided that it represents a partially successful completion of the trial. However, since you did not properly show your Pokemon's abilities, you must battle me as well! Go, Minior!"

"You have failed the second trial. My apologies, but you will not learn the secret technique from us at this time."

Saddened, you turn to leave the snowy village. You're not really watching where you're going, and just before the village's border you crash into the blue haired man from earlier! He was running towards the lake that you just left from, and now you're both splayed out on the ground. And now that you're actually meeting him, he looks familiar? Almost like you've seen him on a wanted poster or something before. As you're trying to puzzle it out, the blue haired man panics, reaches for his Pokeballs, and shouts, "Growlie! Carnivine! I've been caught, let's get out of here!"

And with that the blue haired man races away on an Arcanine, a Carnivine floating behind him. Huh. Maybe that'll be the end of the problems this village has with thieves? You really hope so, at least.

Rumor has it that there is an ancient treasure in the Tricot Jungle, sure to cure any disease. Downside being, if you go into this jungle for the treasure, you're probably going to need it, based on all of the mosquito bites you've suffered on this trek. However, you happen to have a good lead on where this relic is- a temple you can see in the distance. Supposedly, there's a basement that hasn't been properly combed over- if it's anywhere, it's there.

Getting to the temple? So far, despite all odds, that's been the easy part. Your Repels work marvelously on the wild Pokemon (but not the insects), and the towering Bai Ze Temple has stood out through the trees on most of your trip; weathered marble as a building block has been bright, despite the... overcast, to put it lightly, sky. It feels too good to be true- surely something bad has to happen.

You reach the temple, and make your way inside. For a few feet, anyways, before an issue arrives- for some odd reason, the ancient temple did not keep up to date with modern lighting standards, and, with the dim cloudy sky, almost no light gets in as you descend into the lower floors of the temple.

How are you going to get past the fact that you can't see in pitch-black darkness?

"We've made it to the temple, I thought the journey here would be the difficult part, but it seems like getting to the basement of this place will be the hard part. We have no choice but to delve on, even in the darkness."

:banette:"Personally, as a self proclaimed expert thief, I actually like to work in the guise of darkness, but I think that for some of our more amateur adventurers, a bit of light may be useful!"

:wigglytuff:"♫ADVENTURING, ADVENTURING, WE ALL LOVE ADVENTURING! NOTHING WILL STOP US AS WE EXPLORE! MACADAMIA, HAZEL AND GEMINI ARE READY FOR MORE♫!"

:banette:"Macadamia, here let me light the way, you just keep singing I guess it might ward off wild animals or something?"

:wigglytuff:"NO BEAST NOR FOE STANDS IN OUR WAY, ON AN ADVENTURE WE MUST SEIZE THE DAY♫"

=================================================

Hazel the Banette will use Flash to illuminate the way.

Macadamia the Wigglytuff will use Sing to boost team morale in the darkness and light up our hearts as well.

With Hazel's light, you can see where you're putting your feet at any rate, and the walls and hallway before you for a dozen feet or so. However, walking gloomly into the night is not a fear for your party, for Macadamia's singing keeps your hearts strong and the terror at bay.

Eventually, you navigate the twisting hallways to a large room that Hazel's light barely fills. However, when you step into the center, torches are set aflame, and a statue begins to speak to you!

"
For the treasure that you seek, your journey has not reached its peak. To have its glory in your grasp, you must escape these Pokemon's clasp! But be wary, foolish man, for all may not go quite to plan..."
