[OVERVIEW]
Cleric support is often at the heart of defensive teams, and a good representative of this role is Audino. Not only can it cure status, but it also passes hefty Wishes and sponges damage thanks to Wish and Regenerator. This extensive recovery makes Audino a solid check to notable special threats like Charizard, Galarian Articuno, and Haunter. Audino has less luck versus setup special attackers like Ribombee and Meteor Beam Archeops, though, as it fails to deter their setup. Its passivity is even more notable versus physical sweepers and stallbreakers like Scrafty and Centiskorch, since it lacks Defense investment.
[SET]
name: Cleric
move 1: Wish
move 2: Protect
move 3: Knock Off
move 4: Heal Bell / Toxic
item: Heavy-Duty Boots
ability: Regenerator
nature: Careful
evs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD
[SET COMMENTS]
Knock Off is better than a STAB attack for Audino, as it better threatens the targets it checks like Charizard and Galarian Articuno, and item removal also deters the likes of Doublade and Choice Specs Jellicent from switching in. Heavy-Duty Boots ensures Audino maximizes the recovery netted from Regenerator, allowing it to scout attacks more safely. Hell Bell can be swapped for Toxic so that Audino is less passive against foes like Sandslash, although the team will need another cleric like Ribombee or Eldegoss given Audino's own vulnerability to Toxic. Walls like Gigalith, Regirock, and Aggron all lack reliable recovery, making them viable receivers for Wish—or Heal Bell if they opt for Rest. Their Stealth Rock support works great with Audino's Knock Off removing opposing Heavy-Duty Boots, and they also function as counters to Ribombee. Fighting-type checks like Weezing and Silvally-Fairy are always warranted as switch-ins for Scrafty and Gallade. Eldegoss and Tangela offer natural synergy by forming a Regenerator core, with either blanket checking physical attackers for Audino. Other physical walls such as Quagsire and Weezing are also good partners. Quagsire stands out, as it can completely quash most setup sweepers.
