Song of the year is Arcade Fire's Afterlife for sure. With Deafheaven's The Pecan Tree and MBV's She Found Now coming right behind it.

"Touch" by Daft Punk is my favourite song of the year. "Beyond" by Daft Punk is my least favourite song of the year. I'll post my favourite albums when I'm done deciding (still gotta catch up on some shit first). Unless I am absolutely devastated by something I haven't listened to yet, which I doubt will happen, Janelle Monáe's The Electric Lady is gonna be my pick for #1.

I accidentally spent this year fucking listening to 2012 albums but highlight songs for me were Hot as Sun - When We Fell, Los Campesinos! - What Death Leaves Behind, and きのこ帝国 - ロンググッドバイ. I can't really pick a favourite song from Reflektor (it'd probably be Porno or the title track) but I will hear it live soon so that will be cool.

eta: Oh yeah almost everything on Yeah Yeah Yeahs - Mosquito was amazing. I think I liked Subway the most.

Also:

Enjoyment: ARTPOP > BEYONCÉ > Britney Jean
Appreciation: BEYONCÉ > ARTPOP > Britney Jean
Consistency: ARTPOP > Britney Jean > BEYONCÉ
Hype Satisfaction: ARTPOP >>>> Britney Jean >>>>>>> wtf new Beyoncé album? >>>>>>>>>>>

I've listened to a whole lot of new music for 2013 compared to last year thanks to many smogoners (pm recommendations and through plug.dj!). Whilst I really liked the releases of 2012 I did find some new favourite bands (Chvrches!) and have developed a liking towards synth/electopop
I really liked the albums Lorde - 'Pure Heroine' and Cults - 'Static' (i put my fav tracks as hyperlinks) but soty for me would be 'Gun' by Chvrches. Can't wait until I see them live next year in Sydney!

I am beyond excited for The Dismemberment Plan releasing their first new album in over a decade. Oh and I guess new MBV is cool...
I was looking back at first page for nostalgia sake and wanted to tell you how sorry I was that their new album was shiiiiiiiiiiit.

I liked it, but it's definitely disappointing / their worst album. Songs are a bit better live though.
