I thought I was the only one around here who appreciated mechanical keyboards! Then again, given I suppose that I shouldn't be surprised that you and possibly Doug have fond memories of the Model M.

I am currently not a Model M user myself though, these days I am rocking a tenkeyless keyboard with blue cherry switches on my desktop. It was $100 and quite difficult to get, but it has been an absolute pleasure to type on. It certainly makes all of the rubber dome keyboards that I am forced to use elsewhere quite painful.
