VGC Venusaur-Gmax

Venusaur-Gmax @ Life Orb
Ability: Chlorophyll
Level: 50
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Leaf Storm
- Sludge Bomb
- Earth Power
- Sleep Powder

Venusaur is no sleeper pick in VGC; in fact, it's actually one of the most dominant Pokemon in the metagame. Venusaur possesses a threatening combination of offensive capabilities, such as its Grass- and Ground-type coverage moves like Leaf Storm and Earth Power and its ability to boost its Special Attack with Max Ooze, meaning it has no trouble removing the likes of Tapu Fini and Rillaboom. Its merits don't end there, though, as Sleep Powder and the residual damage from G-Max Vinelash have excellent supportive utility as well. With a Chlorophyll boost, it's capable of outspeeding even the fastest Pokemon in the metagame like Regieleki and +1 Cinderace. Venusaur is often seen with its partner in crime, Torkoal, which sets sun and threatens some of Venusaur's common checks, including Glastrier and Thundurus, with Eruption and Yawn, respectively. As Venusaur will often want to Dynamax to make the most of its potential, partners such as Urshifu-S and Regieleki that are less reliant on Dynamaxing are effective teammates.

If you'd like to try Venusaur out for yourself, here's a team made by Jackson Finch that reached top 12 of the North American Player's Cup II Qualifier! https://pokepast.es/cd549dbc120e96b6
