Three Type 'Mons (Accepting Council Applications)

Do some Pokemon's typings ever seem weird to you? Like all of the Moth Pokemon lacking a flying subtype, despite being able to fly? Or Stunfisk being a fish that's weak to water? In many cases, it would make more sense for a Pokemon to have more than 2 types. But we couldn't possibly add that many types, after all, we are bound by tradition that prevents us from giving any Pokemon a 3rd type...

...Or are we?

Welcome to Three Type 'Mons, where Pokemon may have up to 3 types!

So before we talk about what the exact changes are, we should lay down some ground rules about what changes we can make.
  • No Mechanics/Ability/Move Changes. Only changes to individual Pokemone allowed.
  • Type Changes must have some flavor justification. Please give some reasoning about how your proposed typing matches the Pokemon's overall flavor.
  • Type Changes don't need to give a Pokemon a 3rd type. Giving some mons a 2nd type is acceptable too, so long as it's flavorful.
  • You may give a Pokemon new moves or abilities, so long as they are consistent with flavor.
  • Cool typing is no good if you can't back it up with decent stats. For that reason, I have opened up new Base Stat Submissions. You can boost a Pokemon's BST by 60 points, or up to 480, whichever gives you a higher BST.

Now, onto the main event. The Pokemon themselves!

Dodrio can learn Fly, unlike Empoleon. Also, if we're looking at Japanese, did you check the description? I know the English ones mentions landing, and if it's a direct translation, then it does matter.

Granbull: Fairy/Fighting
New Moves: Drain Punch
Justification: All of its sprites have its hands in fists
I'm not really feeling this change. It can learn some Fighting type moves, and the elemental punches, but non of those via level up. Many of its Pokedex entries refer to how cowardly it is, which is unheard behavior from Fighting types.
I could do Fairy/Dark with Strong Jaw, kinda like what I did to Tyrantrum. What do you people think about that?

Bulbapedia doesn't have the foreign language flavor text, and I'm don't know anywhere that does. If it bugs other people, I'll remove it, but for now, Empoleon has a form of reliable recovery, on top of its improved defensive typing.

Anyways this looks really cool.
I'm dissapointed you gave Probopass levitate though. Wanted to see the damage an 8x effective EQ would do to it.

Also, why is Mega Gyara keeping Flying typing over Dragon? It's definitely not flying, and has a lot o dragon aspects to it.

Mega Absol for Dark/Fairy pls. Look at it and tell me you don't see Fairy in it's design. It's a bloody angelic thing.[/quote]

Dunsparce should be Normal / Dragon / Fairy imo.
Also, I'll begin working on a type chart, if that sounds cool:
Normal / Fire Combinations
  • Normal / Fire / Null
    • Resists: Bug-, Steel-, Fire-, Grass-, Ice-types.
    • Weak to: Fighting-, Ground-, Rock-, Water-types.
    • Immune to: Ghost-type.
  • Normal / Fire / Fighting
    • Resists: Bug- (x4), Fire-, Grass-, Steel-, Ice-, Dark-types.
    • Weak to: Fighting-, Water-, Ground-, Flying-, Psychic-types.

EDIT;
Also, Luxio should be Luxray, and I don't like this change because lux literally means light.

Volcarona is going to have an interesting time trying to switch into anything ever.

I'd consider adding poison to the Paras line since I believe it's a poisonous mushroom.

That's exactly what I was thinking of when I wrote that lol.

Mold Breaker is still a thing.
Also, why is Mega Gyara keeping Flying typing over Dragon? It's definitely not flying, and has a lot o dragon aspects to it.
Just because regular Gyara was Flying initially. I could go either way on it, and Dragon would be better offensively, so that is a probable change.
Mega Absol for Dark/Fairy pls. Look at it and tell me you don't see Fairy in it's design. It's a bloody angelic thing.
I like this. Perhaps Dark/Psychic/Fairy though, to match the base form.
Dunsparce should be Normal / Dragon / Fairy imo.
I was initially gonna include Dunsparce in the first wave, but couldn't decide on its type. Ground also has good reasoning, and there's even an argument to be made for Flying, or at least Levitate. I want to see what more people have to say about it.
Also, I'll begin working on a type chart, if that sounds cool:
That sounds VERY cool. Thanks!

Sounds good. Will do.

canno

formerly The Reptile
I think Rotom-Normal being part normal is a cute idea. Normal fits cute-mon like Rotom, and Normal turning into other types is a neat idea, at least in my head. It's also called Rotom-Normal (I kno that's not the best logic, but meh. I really just want my Electric / Ghost / Normal Rotom ;__; )

Gliscor should REALLY be a poison type.

1.) It's a scorpion
2.) It enjoys being poisoned
3.) Look at it! Everything about it screams poison type

Then again, no more poison heal. LOL

That is a really cute idea, and I do like it. I did have a similar idea with Genesect at one point, where the type would change according to its held Drive, and its base form would be Bug/Steel/Normal. I think I'll add that back in, with an ability nerf of some description.

Anyway, Rotom. That isn't a great flavor reason, but I might just add it any way, because it's a really cute idea.

And that's the exact reason I haven't changed it lol. It is in the Bug Egg Group, so Ground/Flying/Bug would be a flavor matching type, but that would hurt it far more than it would help it. It also learns multiple Dark type moves via level up, including Knock Off and Night Slash, so that could work as well.

Please don't turn everything into a dragon. The dragons you've got in the OP are enough. I'd just shudder if I saw Dragon / Bug / Flying Yanmega.

I really like most of your changes. They're surprisingly sensible so far.

Maybe reduce stealth rock damage? 12% 18% 25% and 50% instead of 12 25(x2) 50(x4) and 100(x8).
(I think this should already be in regular game. Taking 50% from 1 layer of hazards is ridiculous imo)

Da Pizza Man

How about Rock/Ice/Fairy Aurorus
New Moves: Moonblast, Dazzling Gleam, and Moonlight
Reason: Its based of auroras, which are mystical lights that appear at night in the artic, so night lights should give it fairy type

Also, how about Bug/Fairy/Electric Volbeat and Illumise
New Moves: Moonblast on both
Reason: Since they are heavily realated to the moon, why not make them fairy type. Electric type is to represent their relationship to light
EDIT;
Also, Luxio should be Luxray, and I don't like this change because lux literally means light.
I dont really like that logic because the Japanese name for the Dark type is the Evil type, which is the reason I hate make pokemon dark types just because they are nocturnal (Persian and Crobat do fit the evil theme, but not all nocturnal pokemon do)

Make Volbeat and Illumise Bug/Fairy/Electric and you're golden

How about claydol ground/ghost/normal (I always thought it was way too creepy to be psychic). I'd like to see more than one ghost/normal pokemon.
Clawtizer steel/water (its claw/launcher look pretty tough to me)
Gengar ghost/poison/dark -> it's the scariest ghost out there.
Gliscor ground/flying/bug -> it not only looks like a bug, it gets u-turn and x-scissor
Latias dragon/psychic/fairy -> it's pink and looks sweeter than latios

Can we get a Grass/Dragon Serperior (or maybe even Grass/Dark/Dragon to differentiate it from Sceptile a bit more)? If it gets Dark, then it should get Dark Pulse and maybe Crunch or Nasty Plot as well (I'm also tempted for Parting Shot, but I don't want to go too far). Dragon Rush would be cool too for Coil sets. Justification is that Serperior is a reptilian pokemon that gets a fair amount of Dragon moves already and for Dark it is really arrogant and intimidating and snakes are generally portrayed as evil/sneaky.

Tyranitar could be Rock/Ground/Dark (that might be hurting it more than helping it, but STAB Earthquake is cool).
Pinsir and Mega Pinsir should be part-Fighting like Heracross.
Dunsparce should be Normal/Fairy/Ground because it is often associated with digging and has many Ground type moves and for Fairy...I don't know really. It would be given Play Rough, Earth Power and Moonblast accordingly.

I'm thinking Dragon Aggron. Draggron?

Also fairy Lunatone with its MOON blast and all.
Lunatone yes, Draggron no.
Maybe reduce stealth rock damage? 12% 18% 25% and 50% instead of 12 25(x2) 50(x4) and 100(x8).

I don't really want to make changes to moves/game mechanics. One thing I would be willing to do is rebalance the type chart slightly, so that Bug takes Neutral Damage from Rock. That way, there are 0 existing Pokemon with a x8 weakness to SR.
How about Rock/Ice/Fairy Aurorus
New Moves: Moonblast, Dazzling Gleam, and Moonlight
Reason: Its based of auroras, which are mystical lights that appear at night in the artic, so night lights should give it fairy type
This one is stretching a little bit, but I think it's still acceptable.
Also, how about Bug/Fairy/Electric Volbeat and Illumise
New Moves: Moonblast on both
Reason: Since they are heavily realated to the moon, why not make them fairy type. Electric type is to represent their relationship to light
Sounds good to me. Will add.

In full agreement here.
How about claydol ground/ghost/normal (I always thought it was way too creepy to be psychic). I'd like to see more than one ghost/normal pokemon.
Nah, not gonna remove an existing type.
Clawtizer steel/water (its claw/launcher look pretty tough to me)
But it isn't made of steel. So it shouldn't be Steel type.
Gengar ghost/poison/dark -> it's the scariest ghost out there.
Works for me. Gengar is currently the only Pokemon here with 0 type weaknesses.
Gliscor ground/flying/bug -> it not only looks like a bug, it gets u-turn and x-scissor
I wasn't wanting to do that because it would make it worse competitively, but it matches flavor so I'll do it. Also if we make Bug take neutral damage from Rock, then it won't be as bad as it could have been.
Latias dragon/psychic/fairy -> it's pink and looks sweeter than latios
It's actually Red, and meh. I was gonna add it originally but wasn't really feeling it.
Grass/Dark/Dragon works for me. I'll add that in shortly.
Tyranitar could be Rock/Ground/Dark (that might be hurting it more than helping it, but STAB Earthquake is cool).
I'm surprised I forgot about that, since I got every other thing which changes type on evolution, save Eeveelutions. Will fix.
Pinsir and Mega Pinsir should be part-Fighting like Heracross.
Yes. Will do.
Dunsparce should be Normal/Fairy/Ground because it is often associated with digging and has many Ground type moves and for Fairy...I don't know really. It would be given Play Rough, Earth Power and Moonblast accordingly.
This seems like the best rout to take.

Kyurem-black dragon/ice/dark -> BLACK
haxorus dragon/poison (possibly even dark) -> When I first saw it, I tought it would be poison type
Zygarde dragon/ground/poison -> it's a snake
aerodactyl rock/flying/dragon -> it looks like a dragon
salamence dragon/flying/fire -> if dragonite gets water, salamence should get fire
donphan ground/rock/steel -> its armour could be considered both rock and steel
raikou electric/dark -> if given dark pulse
entei fire/flying -> fucking stealth rocks, but it just looks like it has wind/clouds on its back
krookodile ground/dark/water -> it's a crocodile (if given water moves)
Swampert ground/water/grass -> when I think of a swamp I think of green, moss, trees and water filled with plants and alge. More than I think of ground anyways. (rids it of x4 weakness, in exchange for a couple of x2 weaknesses)

chimenco psychic/fairy (give it some stat boosts)
marowak ground/ghost -> every marowak is secretly a ghost like the one in the game/series. + new dual typing, immune to 3 types.
