[OVERVIEW]

*Seismitoad has great bulk with it's great Water / Ground typing with Water Absorb. Giving it a notable niche in the current metagame completely walling Rotom-Wash.
*Seismitoad is really good against Volt Turn for more than Rotom-Wash though, it can wall Mega Manectric as long as it doesn't have Hidden Power Grass.
*Seismitoad's rock resistance helps against Pokemon such as Nihilego and Terrakion.
*While Seismitoad is used more for walling Rotom-Wash, because of it's typing it is good against Volt Turn teams in general.
*One downside to Seismitoad is that it has great bulk, but it's lack of reliable recovery makes it unable to consistently switch in on things and tank hits.
*Seismitoad's main niche over Gastrodon is it's access to Stealth Rock, but Gastrodon has similar bulk and reliable recovery.
*Due to their similar roles, Seismitoad competes with Swampert, who has better stats and access to Roar, but no water immunity.

[SET]
name: Physically Defensive
move 1: Stealth Rock
move 2: Scald
move 3: Earth Power / Earthquake
move 4: Toxic
item: Leftovers
ability: Water Absorb
nature: Bold / Relaxed
evs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========

*Stealth Rock provides support for the rest of the team with residual damage.
*Scald is your water STAB that you can fish for burns with.
*Earth Power is your ground STAB that hits pokemon like Cobalion and Klefki while avoiding the burn debuff.
*Earthquake is your ground STAB that you can 2HKO Pokemon such as Empoleon and Tentacruel, which Earth Power cannot do.
*Toxic helps you break through walls with increasing damage overtime.

Set Details
========

*To maximize Seismitoad's bulk you run maximum Hp and maximum Defense, which helps you safely switch in on a lot of threats.
*Bold/Relaxed nature helps you maximize your bulk and defensive capabilities.
*Running Relaxed nature allows you to run Earthquake, but lets you get outsped by bulky variants of Scizor which is less than desirable.
*Due to Seismitoad's lack of reliable recovery, the toad ends up relying on the healing received from Leftovers a lot.
*Water Absorb is necessary for walling pokemon like Rotom-Wash, Suicune, etc.

Usage Tips
========

*Use seismitoad as your primary response to electric types like Rotom-Wash and Mega Manectric as it can help prevent them from gaining momentum.
*Throughrout the battle Seismitoad is used as to support the team with residual rocks damage, and as a physical wall that can safely switch into things like Scizor’s Bullet Punch and fish for burns with Scald.
*Be wary of status moves like Toxic, Seismitoad is prone to getting poisoned and because of it’s lack of reliable healing, this can cripple it for the rest of the battle.
*Utilize Water Absorb, Knock Off, and Stealth Rock to the best of your ability because these are the things that give Seismitoad an advantage over it's Water / Ground counterparts Swampert and Gastrodon.

Team Options
========

*Wallbreakers that are weak to Volt Turn such as Crawdaunt, Heracross, and appreciate this Pokemon’s support because of it’s strength against Volt Turn.
*Pokemon that can punish U-Turn such as Moltres and Rocky Helmet users such as Cobalion, Alomomola, and Krookodile work well with Seismitoad to create an Anti-Volt Turn core.
*Klefki can work well with the toad because it has decent type synergy and provides Spikes support for the rest of the team.
*Pokemon with good type synergy like Scizor, Cobalion, and Infernape like having Seismitoad as something to switch into against threats such as Rotom-Wash.
*Grass type checks such as Scizor, and dragons are appreciated as something to switch into when dealing with a grass type attack.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

*Protect is also a viable option because it can scout for attacks and Choice-locked pokemon, while getting an extra turn of Leftovers recovery.
*Knock Off knocks off the opponent's item for the rest of the battle.
*Refresh is another option on Seismitoad because it is prone to absorbing status moves like Toxic and Will-O-Wisp. With Refresh it can use this to it’s advantage.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Grass Moves**: Seismitoad only has one weakness and its Grass, however it is a 4x weakness and gets OHKOd by most grass attacks, i.e. Infernape and Nihilego's Grass Knot, Giga Drain from Amoonguss, or Leaf Storm from Mega Sceptile or Serperior.

**Status**: Unless your running Refresh, Seismitoad dislikes getting poisoned because it can diminish and limit his walling capabilities. Will-O-Wisp can also be annoying because it neutralizes recovery from Leftovers and weakens Knock Off and Earthquake's power.

**Heavy Hitting Wallbreakers**: Wallbreakers with extremely powerful attacks such as Mienshao and Heracross can bother Seismitoad despite it's bulk. Mamoswine also falls into this category, especially the Freeze-Dry variant.

**Special Attackers**: Seismitoad is a defensive Pokemon, it's natural bulk along with the 252 evs invested into Hp can help with special attacks, but this does not protect it from hard hitting special attacking Pokemon such as Primarina, Latias, Hydreigon, etc.

Overview
  • In addition to Rotom-W mention that it also walls most variants of Mega Manectric because of its neutrality to Hidden Power Ice, and its Rock resistance also helps against stuff like Nihilego and Terrakion.
  • Mention somewhere that its 4x weakness to Grass means it can be caught out by certain Pokemon it would otherwise check, like Nihilego and Infernape.
  • Talk about how Seismitoad is relatively passive, as its attacking stats aren't that good and it relies on Scald burns.
  • Reword the third line to say something along the lines of: Seismitoad's main niche over Gastrodon is its access to Stealth Rock, but Gastrodon has similar bulk and reliable recovery.
Moves
  • The defensive set should be:
    name: Physically Defensive
    move 1: Stealth Rock
    move 2: Scald
    move 3: Earth Power / Earthquake
    move 4: Toxic
    item: Leftovers
    ability: Water Absorb
    nature: Bold / Relaxed
    evs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
    - with mentions of Knock Off and Refresh in moves. Talk about how Earth Power is unaffected by Will-O-Wisp from Rotom-W, but EQ can be used too to 2HKO Empoleon and Tentacruel, which Earth Power can not do.
Set Details
  • Delete the mention of 4 Speed because it just causes speed creep mindgames which are unwanted.
Usage Tips
  • Mention how Seismitoad should still be wary of being worn down by Scizor's U-turn over time as well.
  • Talk more about what you should switch Seismitoad into and what you shouldn't switch it into. Like, for example, it can be OHKOed or heavily damaged at +2 by stuff like Crawdaunt, Terrakion, and Scizor; just mention to be careful around setup sweepers.
  • Mention in the line about switching into Rotom-W that Seismitoad should be careful of being burned, especially if it's running Earthquake, because it gets worn down via residual damage and its damage output with EQ drops as well.
Team Options
  • This section is too bare and needs to be fleshed out.
  • Mention Grass-type checks as good teammates, since Seismitoad is completely at their mercy.
  • Give more examples than Scizor's Bullet Punch; some stuff like Infernape's Flare Blitz and Terrakion's Stone Edge can be mentioned here.
  • More examples of Pokemon that are weak to Volt-Turn should be given here, and not just offensive Pokemon either, mention some defensive ones as well. Things that are weak to Electric are good examples.
  • In addition to Moltres also add Rocky Helmet users that can punish U-turn users with chip damage; Alomomola and Hippowdon (idk about this one) are some decent examples.
  • Instead of just Klefki, give more examples of Steel-types and talk about the type synergy.
  • Pokemon that struggle against Water-types are good to mention because Seismitoad can handle them with Water Absorb.
  • Mention hazard removers, since Seismitoad is very weak to Spikes, Stealth Rock, and Toxic Spikes.
Other Options
  • Remove Power-Up Punch line.
  • Remove the Earthquake line since it is slashed on the main set.
Checks and Counters
  • In Grass Moves, give examples of Grass-type moves that you would see from common Pokemon, like Nihilego and Infernape's Grass Knot, Mega Sceptile's Leaf Storm, etc.
  • In Status also mention that getting Burned is annoying as well because it negates the passive recovery from Leftovers and weakens Earthquake and Knock Off's power level.
  • I don't know if Freeze-Dry deserves its own mention considering that only one Pokemon uses it, and Seismitoad should not be your primary switch-in to Mamoswine anyways.
