[OVERVIEW]

Mega Scizor is one of the best Pokemon in OU for many reasons, which include being extremely easy to fit on a team and its ability to check a wide array of threats in the tier, ranging from Ice-types to Fairy- and Rock-types, such as Kyurem-B, Weavile, Mega Diancie, Clefable, Tyranitar, and Terrakion. Mega Scizor is also a great answer to Dragon-types that lack Fire-type coverage and is able to set up on Steel-types such as Ferrothorn and Mega Metagross. On top of being a fantastic answer to the aforementioned Pokemon and others, Mega Scizor is one of the most threatening setup sweepers in the tier, as it can find setup opportunities extremely easily and can be very difficult to stop at +2 due to Technician boosting Mega Scizor's STAB moves further. However, more Pokemon are running Fire-type coverage, such as Latios, Clefable, and Jirachi, to lure and shut down Mega Scizor. Other Pokemon such as Heatran, Mega Charizard X, Talonflame, and Keldeo are all common in OU too, and they can prevent Mega Scizor from doing too much damage. On top of lures and other high-usage answers, Mega Scizor is vulnerable to being worn down by Spikes, and it is also very prone to being trapped and taken out by Magnezone.

Moves
========

Swords Dance boosts Mega Scizor's Attack, making it more threatening and allowing it to take advantage of passive threats such as Ferrothorn, Hippowdon, Clefable lacking Fire-type coverage, and Landorus-T lacking Swords Dance. Roost is necessary, as it allows Mega Scizor to consistently switch into the threats it beats, such as Ice-, Fairy-, and Rock-types, and helps prevent Mega Scizor from being worn down too much from entry hazards. Bullet Punch is the STAB move of choice, as it is boosted by Technician and is Mega Scizor's strongest option that also has priority, letting it pressure faster threats such as Terrakion, Weavile, and Mega Diancie. Bug Bite allows Mega Scizor to break through the likes of Slowbro and Tangrowth and is also boosted by Technician. U-turn is an alternative option over Bug Bite that allows Mega Scizor to switch out of Pokemon such as Rotom-W and Landorus-T, but this forces Mega Scizor to lose its boosts from Swords Dance while also struggling more with the likes of Slowbro, Tangrowth, and Suicune. Superpower can also be used, as it breaks through Steel-types easily, dealing heavy damage to Skarmory, Heatran, Ferrothorn, and Bisharp, and also allows Mega Scizor to wear down Keldeo.

Set Details
========

The given EV spread allows Mega Scizor to avoid the 2HKO from Mega Alakazam's Focus Blast and outspeed Mega Venusaur. The remaining EVs are placed into Defense to provide some buffer against the likes of Landorus-T and Excadrill. The last 16 EVs are placed into Attack to hit a jump point in conjunction with an Adamant nature. Light Metal is the ability of choice to reduce the damage Scizor takes from switching into Weavile's Low Kick, as Scizor regains Technician upon Mega Evolution. Scizorite is mandatory on this set, as it allows Scizor to Mega Evolve and drastically increases its bulk, allowing it to take on the threats such as Kyurem-B, Mega Diancie, and Weavile.

Usage Tips
========

Mega Scizor should be switched into threats such as Weavile, Clefable, Mega Diancie, and other Fairy- and Ice-types, but beware of Fire-type coverage and try to scout for it first. Avoid setting up early-game, especially when Mega Scizor's answers are still healthy. If using U-turn, attempt to wear down the likes of Keldeo and Heatran with the same; otherwise, double switching should be used. If Mega Scizor's answers are weakened, try to set up and sweep with it late-game. Although this set has defensive investment and Roost, avoid letting Mega Scizor get worn down, especially by repeated attacks against Rocky Helmet users and pressure from entry hazards, as otherwise, it will find itself in 2HKO range of the likes of Mega Diancie and offensive Landorus-T and be easier to pick off.

Team Options
========

Tyranitar is a great option to pair with Mega Scizor, as it takes on Flying-types that Mega Scizor struggles with such as Talonflame and Zapdos while appreciating Mega Scizor wearing down Keldeo. Mega Scizor appreciates Pokemon such as Clefable and Tornadus-T with Knock Off, as they remove Leftovers from the likes of Rotom-W, Talonflame, and Heatran, making them a lot easier to wear down. Bulky Grass-types such as Amoonguss and Tangrowth can pressure Heatran with Spore, Sleep Powder, or Stun Spore, while Tangrowth can outright OHKO it after a little amount of prior damage with Earthquake. Amoonguss also checks Keldeo reliably, which Mega Scizor hates dealing with. Latios appreciates Mega Scizor taking on Fairy- and Ice-types and can check Water-types, especially Keldeo, in return. Entry hazard stacking is effective with U-turn Mega Scizor, as it can quickly wear down grounded answers, but most Spikes users open up large weaknesses to opposing Fire-types. Water-types cover many of Mega Scizor's weaknesses; bulky Water-types such as Slowbro can take on the likes of Mega Charizard X and Talonflame, while Rotom-W can check Talonflame, form a VoltTurn core with Mega Scizor, and check Ground-types to ease pressure off Mega Scizor. Offensive Water-types such as Keldeo and Manaphy are great for breaking down Mega Scizor answers such as Heatran and Garchomp. Starmie can do the same but also has access to Rapid Spin, which allows it to ease pressure against Spikes stacking teams.

Moves
========

Swords Dance boosts Mega Scizor's Attack, making it very threatening, especially when backed by the increased power compared to the bulky Swords Dance set. Bullet Punch hits faster threats including Ice-, Fairy-, and Rock-types while also dealing heavy damage to Pokemon that don't resist it, such as Latios and offensive Garchomp. Bug Bite nails bulky Grass- and Water-types such as Amoonguss, Tangrowth, Rotom-W, Slowbro, and Suicune. Superpower OHKOes Heatran and Bisharp, puts a massive dent into Keldeo, and deals great damage to Ferrothorn while also being Mega Scizor's only option for hitting Skarmory.

Set Details
========

252 Attack EVs along with an Adamant nature maximize Mega Scizor's Attack, allowing it to hit as hard as possible, while 252 Speed EVs allow Mega Scizor to outspeed threats such as Rotom-W and Choice Specs Magnezone and also get the jump on base 70 Speed Pokemon with a non-Speed-boosting nature such as Bisharp and Breloom. A Jolly nature can be run over Adamant to outspeed faster variants of Rotom-W as well as base 70 Speed Pokemon with a Speed-boosting nature. This also allows Mega Scizor to outspeed tank Garchomp; however, Jolly Mega Scizor is still outsped by fast Heatran. Scizorite is used to increase Mega Scizor's power and bulk, also increasing Speed slightly. Life Orb is a viable alternative, though, as Scizor then gains an increased power boost at the cost of worse longevity and bulk. Technician is the ability of choice as Light Metal is extremely situational and it boosts the power of Scizor's STAB moves, the most notable ones being Bullet Punch and Bug Bite.

Usage Tips
========

This Scizor set lacks the bulk to set up early- and mid-game to apply pressure to its checks, so it's better off saving its attempts to sweep until late-game when its checks and counters are worn down. Scizor can't reliably switch into threats its bulky set could handle, such as Mega Metagross, Mega Diancie, and Latios, as it lacks the bulk and longevity required to keep switching in. If the opponent has Heatran, scout the reaction to Scizor and use this to your advantage by using Superpower on it if their initial reaction is to hard switch Heatran in against Scizor.

Team Options
========

Similarly to other Scizor sets, this one also struggles to deal with Heatran, which outspeeds Scizor despite the latter's Speed investment. Water- and Ground-types such as Keldeo, Starmie, Manaphy, Garchomp, Landorus-T, Gliscor, and Dugtrio are all capable of pressuring Heatran and other Fire-types, but many dislike being burned by Lava Plume or poisoned by Toxic. Alternatively, Heatran can be crippled or weakened through the likes of Stun Spore Amoonguss, Knock Off Clefable and Tornadus-T, and Body Slam Jirachi. Healing Wish users such as Jirachi and Latios can heal Scizor if it gets weakened too much. Jirachi can also set up Stealth Rock and cripple Fire-types such as Heatran, Talonflame, Mega Charizard X and Y with Body Slam. Latios can effectively check Keldeo and appreciates Scizor taking on Weavile. Physical attackers such as Bisharp and Swords Dance Talonflame pair well with Scizor, as they all break down checks they have in common, potentially paving the way for the other to sweep. Alternatively, lures for common Mega Scizor answers can work well, such as Earthquake Tangrowth, Hidden Power Ice Landorus-T, and Power Herb Solar Beam Heatran, which can lure in and pick off switch-ins such as Heatran, Garchomp, and Keldeo, respectively.

[SET]
name: Pursuit
move 1: Pursuit
move 2: Bullet Punch
move 3: U-turn
move 4: Roost
item: Scizorite
ability: Light Metal
nature: Adamant
evs: 248 HP / 84 Atk / 176 SpD

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========

Pursuit allows Mega Scizor to trap Psychic-types such as Latios, Latias, Mega Alakazam, and non-Fire Punch Jirachi. Bullet Punch hits decently hard and gives Mega Scizor a solid option to hit threats such as Weavile, Terrakion, Kyurem-B, and Clefable. U-turn allows Mega Scizor to generate momentum from switch-ins such as Landorus-T and Rotom-W. Roost allows Mega Scizor to stay healthy and lets it reliably take on the threats it is supposed to beat.

Set Details
========

The given Attack investment along with an Adamant nature allows Mega Scizor to OHKO Latios as it tries to switch out, while the remaining EVs are placed into HP and Special Defense in order to handle hits from the likes of Mega Alakazam and Mega Gardevoir well. Light Metal is Scizor's most useful ability before it Mega Evolves, as it reduces the damage Scizor takes from Low Kick from the likes of Weavile, and Scizor regains Technician upon Mega Evolution anyway. Scizorite is the item of choice, as the increased bulk makes Scizor a more reliable Pursuit trapper.

Usage Tips
========

This Mega Scizor set lacks the offensive presence that the other sets have, so it shouldn't be played as if it can sweep late-game. It should be played conservatively and used to trap the threats it aims to trap, such as Latios, Mega Metagross, and Mega Alakazam. Mega Scizor still has utility outside of trapping in being able to reliably pressure Rock-, Ice-, and Fairy-types with its strong Bullet Punch, which shouldn't be overlooked, although the lack of physical bulk means it struggles to take on threats such as Mega Lopunny and Excadrill. If the opponent no longer has Pokemon that Mega Scizor is needed for, it can be sacrificed in order to let its teammates switch in for free.

Team Options
========

Water-types such as Manaphy and Keldeo appreciate Mega Scizor taking on Latios and removing it. Belly Drum Azumarill can also take advantage of this, as Latios is typically used as a revenge killer for +6 Azumarill. Other Pokemon that fast Psychic-types threaten such as Hydreigon, Breloom, Amoonguss, and physically defensive Tangrowth also appreciate Mega Scizor taking on said Psychic-types, and they also appreciate Mega Scizor being able to deal with Weavile. This set shouldn't be solely relied upon to handle Psychic-types, especially Latios, as stray Hidden Power Fire lures can shut down Mega Scizor quickly; additional Steel-types such as Jirachi and Heatran can thus work as a backup plan for Latios. They can also set up Stealth Rock to weaken Mega Scizor's answers.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

Scizor can also opt to run Choice Band instead of Life Orb on offensive sets, utilizing a moveset of Bullet Punch, U-turn, Superpower, and Pursuit. This provides immediate power, but it can be easily punished by Rocky Helmet users such as Landorus-T and Garchomp and is a lot easier to play around, as it cannot switch moves or use Swords Dance to boost its power further. Defog can also be used on Mega Scizor, but it is very inefficient, as using Defog prevents Mega Scizor from running Pursuit or Swords Dance. Defog Mega Scizor also struggles with common entry hazard setters such as Skarmory and Ferrothorn. Mega Scizor can also utilize Baton Pass alongside Swords Dance to switch out of answers such as Keldeo and Talonflame, but this forces Mega Scizor to forgo coverage or recovery.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Fire-types**: Fire-types such as Mega Charizard X and Y, Heatran, and Talonflame are all very annoying for Mega Scizor to face, as they can usually switch in and beat it one-on-one. Mega Charizard Y is an exception, as it cannot take a +2 Bullet Punch from offensive variants of Mega Scizor after Stealth Rock damage. Heatran also fears hard switching into Superpower, which shuts it down, but otherwise it handles Mega Scizor fine.

**Electric-types**: Magnezone and Magneton are common answers to Scizor because of Magnet Pull, which allows them to trap Scizor and either OHKO or drastically weaken it with Hidden Power Fire. However, although Choice Specs Magnezone shuts down defensive Mega Scizor easily, offensive variants of Mega Scizor can outspeed it. Zapdos is a great Mega Scizor counter because its solid bulk, useful typing, and access to Heat Wave allow it to reliably answer Mega Scizor many times throughout the course of games. However, Zapdos's Stealth Rock weakness can be exploited by using U-turn as it switches in to switch into a Pokemon that threatens Zapdos. Lastly, Mega Manectric is a decent revenge killer that outspeeds Mega Scizor, has Intimidate to soften up its attacks, and has Fire-type coverage that quickly gets rid of it.

**Water-types**: Most Water-types struggle to switch into Mega Scizor, but a decent number of them either outspeed Mega Scizor or are bulky enough to take it on when they are healthy. Examples include Keldeo, which switches into most moves with ease and threatens Scizor with Scald; Manaphy, which lacks the resistances that Keldeo's Fighting typing provides but resists Bullet Punch and can threaten Scizor with a Scald burn or Hidden Power Fire; Volcanion, which resists Scizor's STAB moves thanks to its Fire typing and threatens Scizor easily with Flamethrower or Steam Eruption; and Rotom-W, which can typically switch into bulkier variants of Mega Scizor and threaten it with Will-O-Wisp. However, Rotom-W cannot outspeed offensive variants of Mega Scizor unless it runs a hefty amount of Speed investment.

**Physically Defensive Pokemon**: Pokemon such as Skarmory can wall Mega Scizor with ease unless it is in a last Pokemon one-on-one situation. However, if Skarmory has Taunt and an attacking move, it can prevent bulky Mega Scizor from setting up and healing while slowly wearing it down. Quagsire is another notable defensive Pokemon that is capable of walling Mega Scizor, as it has access to Unaware, which completely shuts down Mega Scizor's attempts to boost with Swords Dance. From there, Quagsire can either fish for a Scald burn or set up with Curse. Suicune and Alomomola are two very bulky Pokemon that can switch in and threaten Mega Scizor with a Scald burn. Alomomola has access to Regenerator, which means it can consistently keep up with the pressure from switching into repeated U-turns.

ctrl+f kyurem-b no results and this is like the best "counter" available for it (hp fire variants are rare, and they tend to use Kyurem-N for that)

Bulky SD

Moves

Remove Bug Bite's second mention as you say the same thing about it twice. Focus a little bit more on Bug Bite's pros over U-turn such as being a reliable source of damage, it's just not only a matter of a last-mon situation, it allows you to beat things more realiably as Slowbro and Tangrowth can tank the U-turn to stop your sweep cold and still be alive, while Suicune basically counters you because you have to U-turn.

Team Options

Hazard stacking paired up with Scizor is a nice thought, but the best spikers atm are Ferrothorn, Skarmory and Klefki to an extent, which dont synergize too well with Scizor at all so idk about that. Dugtrio is kinda niche outside of stall and I wouldnt advice new players to use it outside of stall. Instead mention Knock Off Torn-T as it wears down Heatran and Rotom-W.

Offensive SD

Set Details
Mention outspeeding most TankChomp as a pro for running Jolly.

Usage Tips
To fill this up a little bit more, mention that if there is a heatran on the opposing team, try to use superpower on the switch to catch it, specially since offensive msciz is rarely seen these days and they probably won't expect it.

Pursuit

Usage Tips

"Scizor can be easily sacked..." sounds like this variant is just meant for trapping, when in reality it still walls a good portion of the meta, you probably wouldnt sack this if there's a weavile on the opposing team for example, even if it already trapped what it needed to.

---

As for ev spreads, probably make the standard bulky one the main spread (dont run 44atk pls it doesnt do anything) and give a strong mention on set details to the one which ohkoes latios at +2 with bp after rocks and outspeeds Rotom-W as its just about as viable as the defensive one, its just a matter of preference really. Pursuit should look something like this:

Scizor-Mega @ Scizorite
Ability: Light Metal
EVs: 248 HP / 84 Atk / 176 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Bullet Punch
- U-turn
- Pursuit
- Roost

ohkoes the latis on the switch and the spdef to switch into zam, gard etc.

Bulky SD Zor's spreads are p. versatile for bulky tbh. You're prolly best off listing the standard 248 HP / 60 Def / 200 SpD impish spread (takes max SpA MDian's HP Fire from full as well as 2 Focus Blasts from timid Mega Gardevoir after SR virtually every time and avoids 2HKO from Jolly Mega Lop's HJK (slightly overloads the hit, but it's better than 16 redundant EVs in attack)) as it takes good advantage of its defensive typing to better check fairies and stuff like Latios. That said, you should definitely give lots of examples of alternative spreads though, as it's very customisable to the team. Good spreads include:
  • 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD careful - avoids OHKO from Specs Latios' HP Fire and takes LO after Stealth Rock as well as almost always taking 80 SpA bold LO Clef's Flamethrower from full (this is in set details on the analysis so it can't hurt to mention it)
  • 248 HP / 176 Def / 84 SpD impish - avoids Adamant Mega Lopunny HJK 2HKO from full
  • 248 HP / 72 Def / 188 SpD impish - avoids uninvested lefties Clef's Fire Blast OHKO after Stealth Rock while almost always avoiding timid MGarde Focus Blast 2HKO after SR and max SpA Diancie's HP Fire OHKO
  • 244 HP / 32 Atk / 44 Def / 188 SpD impish - More optimal version of Littlelucario's spread above (still retains Lopunny benchmark while also hitting the Clefable benchmark from the previous spread)
  • 248 HP / 244 Def / 16 SpD impish - takes 2 Specs Surf hits from Latios
  • 248 HP / 112 Def / 148 SpD impish - same as above after Stealth Rock

Just make the main spread 248 HP / 16 Atk / 60 Def / 124 SpD / 60 Spe with an Adamant nature. Avoids the 2HKO from Megazam's Focus Blast, outspeeds 20 Speed Venusaur so you can hit it with a +2 Bug Bite before it HP Fires Scizor. The defense just kind of works as a buffer for stuff like Landorus-T, Excadrill and the like. 16 Attack EVs plus an Adamant nature reaches a jump point and has a good chance to 2HKO Latios after Stealth Rock when at +2. Any other spreads you can think of like max Defense Impish are fine for set details.

Everything else looks good sorry for the long wait :x 2/3

gonna get this done cuz its been sitting here :p the overall analysis is really good, just some nitpicks that i feel should be implemented.

overview

i agree w/ dragon not being mentioned seeing as a large majority of them outright beat it or have space in their moveslots for fire coverage which isn't good for m-scizor, but i think you can mention that it can check these threats / types due to fantastic natural bulk accompanied by good defensive typing (you can include somethin like mega metagross in the list too).

moves (bulky sd)

a brief mention of knock off is fine in the moves to get rid of lefties from its standard switchins & removing items is always good.

team options (bulky sd)

(bulky) waters should be mentioned somewhere cause they're pretty important for opposing fires, waters, that ish. pokes like rotom-w (voltturn core), slowbro / king to pivot into stuff, keldeo shares defensive utility + breaks down key threats to m-scizor, starmie to spin, whatever you feel is important. heatran is also good to include to constantly wear stuff down w/ rocks & nail its checks / counters with toxic for the long run game.

team options (off sd)

i'd personally stress a section for wallbreakers & lures since those are what is gonna pave the way for m-scizor to sweep on a more offensive team. some like keldeo & starmie were mentioned but stuff like kyu-b variants, surf / tbolt latios, mana, thund, lo torn-t are good too.

usage tips (pursuit)

this set opts for atk to actually trap stuff + a ton of spdef to consistently switchin to what its meant to pursuit, so you can mention that you should try to keep it healthy & not pressured too much or else it may not be capable of catching a lati, mzam, w/e. also, there's 0 physdef so avoid switching into certain strong physical attacks like mega lopunny's hjk. you don't always have to pursuit predicting a switch, uturn can be better depending on the situation to gain initiative.

team options (bulky sd)

sorta ties into a point on usage tips, but pokes that form a backbone with m-scizor to help it manage stuff like mega lopunny & excadrill it can no longer deal with due to the spread (physdef lando-t, rotom-w, clef). this set in general is found on more bulky offense / balanced teams so checks to threats are important, not just stuff that can abuse its ability to trap.

========

das pretty much it, the spread on bulky sd is one that can be argued a lot & it can come down to personal preference and / or specific team builds. i personally feel like the speed is often not worth it & takes away rly important bulk to help it deal with some threats better. despite my personal opinion, its still a good spread (but there may be more discussion between our qc team). good shit p2

This also allows Mega Scizor to outspeed standard tank Garchomp; (Add semicolon) , (RC) however, Jolly Mega Scizor is still outsped by fast Heatran. Scizorite is used to increase Mega Scizor's power and bulk, as well as increasing Speed slightly. This also avoids Life Orb recoil, (AC) which can reduce Scizor's longevity, however although Life Orb is a viable option, (AC) as it gains an increased power boost at the cost of worse longevity and bulk. Technician is the ability of choice as Light Metal is extremely situational as it is, and it saves users importing and using Light Metal Life Orb Scizor by accident. (I get the idea but I don't think it should be stated explicitly.)

Usage Tips
========

This Scizor set lacks the bulk to set up early- and mid-game to apply pressure to its checks, so it's better off saving its attempts to sweep until late-game when its checks and counters are worn down. Scizor can't reliably switch into threats its bulky set could handle such as Mega Metagross, Mega Diancie, and Latios, (AC) as it lacks the bulk and longevity required to keep switching in. If the opponent has Heatran, scout the Heatran users reaction to Scizor and use this to your advantage and by using try to use Superpower on it if their initial reaction is to hard switch Heatran in against Scizor.

Team Options
========

Similar to other Scizor sets, this one also struggles to deal with Heatran, (AC) since it still outspeed despite the Speed investment Scizor runs. Alternatively, Heatran can be crippled or weakened through the likes of Stun Spore Amoonguss, Knock Off Clefable and Tornadus-T, and Body Slam Jirachi, and lures such as Earthquake Tangrowth also work (Moving to where you talk about lures). Physical attackers such as Bisharp and Swords Dance Talonflame pair well with Scizor, (AC) as they all break down checks they have in common, potentially paving a the way for the other to sweep. Alternatively, lures for common Mega Scizor answers can work well, lures such as Earthquake Tangrowth, (AC) Hidden Power Ice Landorus-T, (AC) and Power Herb Solarbeam Solar Beam Heatran, (AC) which can lure in and pick off switch-ins (Add hyphen) such as Heatran, (AC) Garchomp, (AC) and Keldeo, respectively.

Moves
========

U-turn allows Mega Scizor to generate momentum from switch-ins (Add hyphen) such as Landorus-T and Rotom-W. Roost allows Mega Scizor to stay healthy and lets it reliably take on the threats it is supposed to beat.

Set Details
========

The given Attack investment along with an Adamant nature allows Mega Scizor to OHKO Latios at as it tries to switch out, while the remaining EVs are placed into HP and Special Defense in order to handle hits from the likes of Mega Alakazam and Mega Gardevoir well. Light Metal is Scizor's most useful ability before it Mega Evolves as it regains Technician upon Mega Evolution, as it reduces the damage Scizor takes from Low Kick from the likes of Weavile, and Scizor regains Technician upon Mega Evolution. Scizorite is the item of choice, (AC) as the increased bulk makes Scizor a more reliable Pursuit trapper.

Usage Tips
========

This Mega Scizor set lacks the offensive presence that the other sets have, and so it shouldn't be played as if it can sweep late-game. It should be played conservatively and used to trap the threats it aims to trap such as Latios, Mega Metagross, and Mega Alakazam. Mega Scizor still has utility outside of trapping in being able to reliably pressure Rock-, Ice-, and Fairy-types with its strong Bullet Punch, (AC) which shouldn't be overlooked, although the lack of physical bulk means it struggles to take on threats such as Mega Lopunny and Excadrill. If the opponent no longer has Pokemon that Mega Scizor is needed for, it can be sacced sacrificed in order to let its teammates switch in for free.

Team Options
========

Water-types such as Manaphy and Keldeo appreciate Mega Scizor taking on Latios and removing it. Belly Drum Azumarill can also take advantage of this, (AC) as Latios is typically used as a revenge killer for +6 Attack Azumarill. Other Pokemon threatened by that fast Psychic-types threaten such as Hydreigon, Breloom, Amoonguss, and physically defensive Tangrowth also appreciate Mega Scizor taking on said Psychic-types, and they also appreciate Mega Scizor being able to deal with Weavile. This set shouldn't be solely relied upon to handle Psychic-types, especially Latios, (AC) as stray Hidden Power Fires lures (Or something like this) can shut down Mega Scizor quickly, so additional Steel-types such as Jirachi and Heatran can work as a back up backup plan for Latios. They can also set up Stealth Rock to weaken Mega Scizor's answers.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

Scizor can also opt to run Choice Band instead of Life Orb on offensive sets, utilizing a moveset of Bullet Punch, U-turn, Superpower, and Pursuit. This provides immediate power, (AC) but it can be easily punished by Rocky Helmet users such as Landorus-T and Garchomp, (RC) and is a lot easier to play around, (AC) as it cannot switch moves or use Swords Dance to boost its power further. Defog can also be used on Mega Scizor, (AC) but it is very inefficient, (AC) as using Defog prevents Mega Scizor it from running Pursuit or Swords Dance.

===================

**Fire-types**: Fire-types such as Mega Charizard X and Y, Heatran, and Talonflame are all very annoying for Mega Scizor to face, (AC) as they can usually switch in and beat it one on one. Mega Charizard Y is an exception, (AC) as it cannot take a +2 Bullet Punch from offensive variants of Mega Scizor after Stealth Rock damage. Heatran also fears hard switching into Superpower, (AC) which shuts it down, but otherwise it handles Mega Scizor fine.

**Electric-types**: Magnezone and Magneton are common answers to Scizor because of Magnet Pull, (AC) which allows them to trap Scizor and either OHKO it or drastically weaken it with Hidden Power Fire. However, although Choice Specs Magnezone shuts down defensive Mega Scizor easily, offensive variants of Mega Scizor can outspeed it. Choice Specs Magnezone can be outsped by offensive variants of Mega Scizor, but it shuts down defensive Mega Scizor easily. Zapdos is a great Mega Scizor counter as because its solid bulk, useful typing, and access to Heat Wave allow it to reliably answer Mega Scizor many times across throughout the course of games. However, its Zapdos's Stealth Rock weakness can be exploited by switching in on U-turn, which gives the Mega Scizor user a chance to switch into a Pokemon that threatens Zapdos. Mega Manectric is a decent revenge killer against Mega Scizor, (AC) as it Mega Manectric outspeeds it, has Intimidate to soften up its Mega Scizor's attacks, (AC) and has Fire-type coverage which that quickly gets rid of it.

**Water-types**: Most Water-types struggle to switch into Mega Scizor, but a decent amount of them either outspeed or are bulky enough to take on Mega Scizor when they are healthy. Examples include Keldeo, (AC) which switches into most moves with ease and threatens Scizor with Scald. Manaphy lacks the resistances which that Keldeo's Fighting type typing provides, (RC) but resists Bullet Punch and can threaten Scizor with a Scald burn or Hidden Power Fire. Volcanion's part-Fire Fire typing provides resistances to Scizor's STAB moves, (AC) and it can threaten Scizor easily with Flamethrower or Steam Eruption. Rotom-W can typically switch into bulkier variants of Mega Scizor and threaten it with Will-O-Wisp. However, Rotom-W cannot outspeed offensive variants of Mega Scizor unless it runs a hefty amount of Speed investment.

**Physically Defensive Pokemon**: Pokemon such as Skarmory can wall Mega Scizor with ease, (RC) unless it is in a last Pokemon one on one one-on-one situation. However, if Skarmory has Taunt and an attacking move, it can prevent bulky Mega Scizor from setting up and healing, and while slowly wearing it down. Quagsire is another notable defensive Pokemon that is completely (Just avoiding repetition with the later "completely") capable of walling Mega Scizor, (AC) as it has access to Unaware, (AC) which completely shuts down Mega Scizor's attempts to boost with Swords Dance. From there, Quagsire can either fish for a Scald burn or set up with Curse. Suicune and Alomomola are two very bulky Pokemon that can switch in and threaten Mega Scizor with a Scald burn. Alomomola has access to Regenerator, (AC) which means it can consistently keep up with the pressure from switching into repeated U-turns.

As a general comment, I didn't really understand why sometimes it says Scizor instead of Mega Scizor. For example, the Overview purely refers to Mega Scizor, while the Water-types section of Checks and Counters refers to both. Mega Scizor vs Scizor also should be reviewed in the offensive SD set, as I don't know the OU metagame enough to judge it. Scizor should only be used to refer to non-Mega Scizor.

nah, the other way around basically; Scizor refers to the Pokemon species Scizor, whereas Mega Scizor refers to the Mega Evo and Mega Evo only. If you strictly refer to the non-Mega (in a Mega analysis) then specify it in some way like regular Scizor or non-Mega Scizor, just Scizor "can go either way really" because defining it strictly as the non-Mega inevitably leads to a bunch of situations that are just a pain to figure out. Though yes specifity is desirable if possible.

[OVERVIEW]

Mega Scizor is one of the best Pokemon in OU for many reasons, these which (works but keep these and comma -> semicolon imo for run-on) include being extremely easy to fit on a team, (RC) and the massive amounts of utility in being able to check a wide array of threats in the tier, (AC) ranging from Ice-types (RC) to Fairy-, (RC) and Rock-types, all including (Avoiding repetition) such as Kyurem-B, Weavile, Mega Diancie, Clefable, Tyranitar, and Terrakion. Mega Scizor is also a great answer to Dragon-types that lack Fire-type coverage as well as being (keep "being"--or just change it to "and is able"--what you're trying to do rn really wants wording consistency, which this change eliminates, so while grammatically correct it just sounds awkward) able to set up on Steel-types such as Ferrothorn and Mega Metagross. On top of being a fantastic answer to the aforementioned Pokemon and others, Mega Scizor is one of the most threatening setup sweepers in the tier, (AC) as it can find set up setup opportunities extremely easily, (RC) (don't implement this comma) and can be very difficult to stop at +2 due to Technician boosting Mega Scizor's STAB moves further. However, all isn't amazing for Mega Scizor, (AC) as more Pokemon are running Fire-type coverage, (AC) such as Latios, Clefable, and Jirachi, (AC) which can lure or and shut down Mega Scizor. Other Pokemon such as Heatran, [ U]Charizard[/ U] (Mega Charizard X and Y?), Talonflame, and Keldeo are all common Pokemon in OU too, and they can all prevent Mega Scizor from doing too much damage in games. On top of lures and other high-usage answers, Mega Scizor is vulnerable to being worn down by Spikes, (AC) and it is also very prone to being trapped by Magnezone, which outright removes it from the game.

Swords Dance boosts Mega Scizor's Attack, making it more threatening and taking advantage of passive threats such as Ferrothorn, Hippowdon, Clefable lacking Fire-type coverage, (AC) and Landorus-T lacking Swords Dance. Roost is necessary, (AC) as it allows Mega Scizor to consistently switch into the threats it beats such as Ice-, Fairy-, and Rock-types and helps prevent Mega Scizor from being worn down too much from entry hazards. Bullet Punch is the STAB move of choice, (AC) as it is boosted by Technician and is Mega Scizor's strongest option that , which also has priority, letting it pressure faster threats such as Terrakion, Weavile, and Mega Diancie. Bug Bite allows Mega Scizor to break through the likes of Slowbro and Tangrowth, (RC) while and is also being (though the while version was okay too barring the comma) boosted by Technician. U-turn is an alternative option over Bug Bite that allows Mega Scizor to switch out of Pokemon such as Rotom-W and Landorus-T, but this forces Mega Scizor to lose its boosts from Swords Dance, (RC) while also struggling more with the likes of Slowbro, Tangrowth, and Suicune. Superpower can also be used, (AC) as it breaks through Steel-types easily, dealing heavy damage to Skarmory, Heatran, Ferrothorn, and Bisharp, (AC) and . It also allows Mega Scizor to deal heavy damage to Keldeo, wearing it down easily.

Set Details
========

The given EV spread allows Mega Scizor to avoid the 2HKO from Mega Alakazam's Focus Blast and outspeed Mega Venusaur. The remaining EVs are placed into Defense to provide some buffer against the likes of Landorus-T and Excadrill. The last 16 EVs are placed into Attack along with an Adamant nature, (AC) as it hits a jump point. Light Metal is the ability of choice, (AC) as Scizor regains Technician upon Mega Evolution and can reduce the damage Scizor takes from switching into Weavile's Low Kick. Scizorite is mandatory on this set, (AC) as it allows Scizor to Mega Evolve and drastically increases its bulk, allowing it to take on the threats it can beat such as Kyurem-B, Mega Diancie, and Weavile, and so on.

Usage Tips
========

Mega Scizor should be switched into threats such as Weavile, Clefable, Mega Diancie, and other Fairy- and Ice-types, but beware of Fire-type coverage and try to scout for it first before. Avoid setting up early-game, especially when Mega Scizor's answers are still healthy; (Add semicolon) , (RC) if using U-turn, attempt to wear down the likes of Keldeo and Heatran when using it, otherwise double switching should be used. If Mega Scizor's answers are weakened, feel try to attempt to set up and aim to sweep with it late-game. Although this set has bulk defensive investment and Roost, avoid letting Mega Scizor get worn down, especially by repeated attacks against Rocky Helmet users and pressure from entry hazards, as otherwise Mega Scizor it will find itself in 2HKO range from of the likes of Mega Diancie and offensive Landorus-T and be easier to pick off.

Team Options
========

Tyranitar is a great option to pair with Mega Scizor, (AC) as it takes on Flying-types that (unneeded) Mega Scizor struggles with such as Talonflame and Zapdos (RC) while appreciating Mega Scizor wearing down Keldeo. Mega Scizor appreciates Pokemon such as Clefable and Tornadus-T with Knock Off, (AC) as they remove Leftovers from the likes of Rotom-W, Talonflame, and Heatran, making them a lot easier to wear down. Bulky Grass-types such as Amoonguss and Tangrowth can pressure Heatran with Spore, Sleep Powder, or Stun Spore, (AC) while Tangrowth can outright OHKO it after a little amount of prior damage with Earthquake. Amoonguss also checks Keldeo reliably, (AC) which Mega Scizor hates dealing with. Latios appreciates Mega Scizor taking on Fairy- and Ice-types, (AC) while in return, Latios checks Water-types, especially Keldeo. Entry hazard stacking is effective with U-turn Mega Scizor, (AC) as it can quickly wear down grounded answers, but most Spikes users open up large weaknesses to opposing Fire-types, which needs to be taken into account for. Water-types cover many of Mega Scizor's weaknesses; (Add semicolon) , (RC) bulky Water-types such as Slowbro can take on the likes of Mega Charizard X and Talonflame, while Rotom-W can check Talonflame, (AC) and form a VoltTurn core with Mega Scizor, and it can also check Ground-types and to ease pressure off Mega Scizor when checking them. Offensive Water-types such as Keldeo and Manaphy are great for breaking down Mega Scizor answers such as Heatran and Garchomp. (Add period) , (RC) Starmie can do the same but also has access to Rapid Spin, which allows it to ease pressure against Spikes-stacking (Add hyphen) (no hyphen, it's a playstyle, so no compound adjective but a compound noun) teams.

Swords Dance boosts Mega Scizor's Attack, making it very threatening, especially when backed with by the increased offenses power compared to the bulky Swords Dance set. Bullet Punch hits faster threats including Ice-, Fairy-, and Rock-types while also dealing heavy damage to neutral Pokemon that don't resist it ("neutral Pokemon" is borderline fine I think, same construction as "super effective targets") such as Latios and offensive Garchomp. Bug Bite nails bulky Grass- and Water-types such as Amoonguss, Tangrowth, Rotom-W, Slowbro, and Suicune. Superpower OHKO's OHKOes Heatran and Bisharp, puts a massive dent into Keldeo, and deals massive great damage to Ferrothorn while also being . Superpower is also Mega Scizor's only option for hitting Skarmory.

Set Details

252 Attack EVs along with an Adamant nature maximizes maximize Mega Scizor's Attack, allowing it to hit as hard as possible, while 252 Speed EVs allows allow Mega Scizor to outspeed threats such as Rotom-W, (RC) and Choice Specs Magnezone, (RC) while also getting the jump on base 70 Speed Pokemon with a non-Speed-boosting (Add hyphen) nature such as Bisharp and Breloom. Jolly nature can be run over Adamant to outspeed faster variants of Rotom-W (RC) as well as base 70 Speed Pokemon with a Speed-boosting (Add hyphen) nature. This also avoids Life Orb recoil, (AC) which can reduce Scizor's longevity, however although (stated later too + not really a logical train of thought) Life Orb is a viable option, (AC) though, (AC) as it gains an increased power boost at the cost of worse longevity and bulk. Technician is the ability of choice as Light Metal is extremely situational [ U]as it is, and it saves users importing and using Light Metal Life Orb Scizor by accident[/ U]. (I get the idea but I don't think it should be stated explicitly.) (yeah if you are putting a not competitively optimal option in the set then it seems better to not explain it at all)

Usage Tips
========

This Scizor set lacks the bulk to set up early- and mid-game to apply pressure to its checks, so it's better off saving its attempts to sweep (if you should not send it out at all until then then don't make this change) until late-game when its checks and counters are worn down. Scizor can't reliably switch into threats its bulky set could handle such as Mega Metagross, Mega Diancie, and Latios, (AC) as it lacks the bulk and longevity required to keep switching in. Similarly to other Scizor sets, this one also struggles to deal with Heatran, (AC) since it still outspeed despite the Speed investment Scizor runs. Jirachi can also set up Stealth Rock and cripple Fire-types such as Heatran, Talonflame, Mega Charizard X and Y with Body Slam. Latios can effectively check Keldeo and appreciates Scizor taking on Weavile.

[OVERVIEW]

Mega Scizor is one of the best Pokemon in OU for many reasons, which include being extremely easy to fit on a team and the massive amount of utility in being able its ability (less wordy, conveys more or less the same thing) to check a wide array of threats in the tier, ranging from Ice-types to Fairy- and Rock-types, such as Kyurem-B, Weavile, Mega Diancie, Clefable, Tyranitar, and Terrakion. Mega Scizor is also a great answer to Dragon-types that lack Fire-type coverage as well and is able to set up on Steel-types such as Ferrothorn and Mega Metagross. However, more Pokemon are running Fire-type coverage, such as Latios, Clefable, and Jirachi, which can to lure and shut down Mega Scizor. Other Pokemon such as Heatran, Mega Charizard X, Talonflame, and Keldeo are all common in OU too, and they can all prevent Mega Scizor from doing too much damage in games (I feel "in games" is kinda redundant; where else can Mega Scizor do damage?). On top of lures and other high-usage answers, Mega Scizor is vulnerable to being worn down by Spikes, and it is also very prone to being trapped and taken out by Magnezone, which outright removes it from the game.

Moves
========

Swords Dance boosts Mega Scizor's Attack, making it more threatening and allowing it to take (getting a tad nitpicky here; technically, it's the Pokemon that takes advantage of XYZ by using the move, not the move itself) advantage of passive threats such as Ferrothorn, Hippowdon, Clefable lacking Fire-type coverage, and Landorus-T lacking Swords Dance. Roost is necessary, as it allows Mega Scizor to consistently switch into the threats it beats, (add comma) such as Ice-, Fairy-, and Rock-types, (add comma) and helps prevent Mega Scizor from being worn down too much from entry hazards. Superpower can also be used, as it breaks through Steel-types easily, dealing heavy damage to Skarmory, Heatran, Ferrothorn, and Bisharp, and also allows Mega Scizor to wear down deal heavy damage to (to avoid repetition of "deal heavy damage to") Keldeo, wearing it down easily.

Set Details
========

The given EV spread allows Mega Scizor to avoid the 2HKO from Mega Alakazam's Focus Blast and outspeed Mega Venusaur. The remaining EVs are placed into Defense to provide some buffer against the likes of Landorus-T and Excadrill. The last 16 EVs are placed into Attack along with an Adamant nature, as it hits to hit a jump point in conjunction with an Adamant nature. Light Metal is the ability of choice to reduce the damage Scizor takes from switching into Weavile's Low Kick, as Scizor regains Technician upon Mega Evolution and can reduce the damage Scizor takes from switching into Weavile's Low Kick. Scizorite is mandatory on this set, as it allows Scizor to Mega Evolve and drastically increases its bulk, allowing it to take on the threats it can beat such as Kyurem-B, Mega Diancie, and Weavile.

Usage Tips
========

If using U-turn, attempt to wear down the likes of Keldeo and Heatran when using it with the same; (semi-colon) otherwise, (add comma) double switching should be used. If Mega Scizor's answers are weakened, try to set up and aim to sweep with it late-game. Although this set has defensive investment and Roost, avoid letting Mega Scizor get worn down, especially by repeated attacks against Rocky Helmet users and pressure from entry hazards, as otherwise, (add comma) it will find itself in 2HKO range of the likes of Mega Diancie and offensive Landorus-T and be easier to pick off.

Team Options
========

Latios appreciates Mega Scizor taking on Fairy- and Ice-types, while in return, Latios and can check Water-types, especially Keldeo, in return. Entry hazard stacking is effective with U-turn Mega Scizor, as it can quickly wear down grounded answers, but most Spikes users open up large weaknesses to opposing Fire-types, which needs to be taken into account for (fluff; remove this).

Moves
========

Swords Dance boosts Mega Scizor's Attack, making it very threatening, especially when backed by the increased power compared to the bulky Swords Dance set. Bullet Punch hits faster threats including Ice-, Fairy-, and Rock-types while also dealing heavy damage to Pokemon that don't resist it, (add comma) such as Latios and offensive Garchomp.

Set Details
========

252 Attack EVs along with an Adamant nature maximize Mega Scizor's Attack, allowing it to hit as hard as possible, while 252 Speed EVs allow Mega Scizor to outspeed threats such as Rotom-W and Choice Specs Magnezone while (repetition of "while") and also get the jump on base 70 Speed Pokemon with a non-Speed-boosting nature such as Bisharp and Breloom. Scizorite is used to increase Mega Scizor's power and bulk, as well as also increasing Speed slightly. Life Orb is a viable option alternative, (AC) though, (AC) as it Scizor then gains an increased power boost at the cost of worse longevity and bulk. Technician is the ability of choice as Light Metal is extremely situational and it boosts the power of Scizor's STAB moves, the most notable ones being Bullet Punch and Bug Bite.

Usage Tips
========

This Scizor set lacks the bulk to set up early- and mid-game to apply pressure to its checks, so it's better off saving its attempts to sweep until late-game when its checks and counters are worn down. Scizor can't reliably switch into threats its bulky set could handle, (add comma) such as Mega Metagross, Mega Diancie, and Latios, as it lacks the bulk and longevity required to keep switching in. If the opponent has Heatran, scout the reaction to Scizor and use this to your advantage by using Superpower on it if their initial reaction is to hard switch Heatran in against Scizor.

Team Options
========

Similarly to other Scizor sets, this one also struggles to deal with Heatran, since it still outspeed despite the Speed investment Scizor runs which outspeeds Scizor despite the latter's Speed investment.

Moves
========

Set Details
========

Usage Tips
========

This Mega Scizor set lacks the offensive presence that the other sets have, so it shouldn't be played as if it can sweep late-game. It should be played conservatively and used to trap the threats it aims to trap, (add comma) such as Latios, Mega Metagross, and Mega Alakazam.

========

This set shouldn't be solely relied upon to handle Psychic-types, especially Latios, as stray Hidden Power Fire lures can shut down Mega Scizor quickly; (semi-colon) so additional Steel-types such as Jirachi and Heatran can thus work as a backup plan for Latios. They can also set up Stealth Rock to weaken Mega Scizor's answers.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

===================

However, Zapdos's Stealth Rock weakness can be exploited by using U-turn as it switches in, which gives the Mega Scizor user a chance to switch into a Pokemon that threatens Zapdos. Mega Manectric is a decent revenge killer against Mega Scizor, as Lastly, Mega Manectric is a decent revenge killer that outspeeds Mega Scizor, has Intimidate to soften up its attacks, and has Fire-type coverage that quickly gets rid of it.

**Water-types**: Most Water-types struggle to switch into Mega Scizor, but a decent number of them either outspeed Mega Scizor or are bulky enough to take it on when they are healthy. Examples include Keldeo, which switches into most moves with ease and threatens Scizor with Scald; Manaphy, which lacks the resistances that Keldeo's Fighting typing provides but resists Bullet Punch and can threaten Scizor with a Scald burn or Hidden Power Fire; Volcanion, whose Fire typing provides resistances to Scizor's STAB moves while Volcanion can which resists Scizor's STAB moves thanks to its Fire typing and threatens Scizor easily with Flamethrower or Steam Eruption; and Rotom-W, which can typically switch into bulkier variants of Mega Scizor and threaten it with Will-O-Wisp.

Some of my changes were a tad nitpicky given this is my first check in more than a year; as such, feel free to seek clarification from me in person where needed :)
