**Grass-types**: Opposing Grass-types, such as Mega Venusaur, Serperior, and Tangrowth, force Rotom-W out with their STAB moves. Will-O-Wisp can pressure physical attackers such as Tapu-Bulu, Necturna, and Ferrothorn on the switch-in.
**Dragon-types**: Dragon-types are able to soak up both of Rotom-W’s STAB attacks, and specially offensive Dragon-types like Mega Latias, Latios, Hydreigon , and Kingdra don't care about burn that much. However, Dragonium Z Garchomp and Dragonium Z Zygarde have to watch out for Will-O-Wisp.
**Electric-Types**: Plasmanta cares little about Rotom-Wash due to its Electric typing and access to the ability Storm Drain. It completely walls Rotom-Wash and can easily check a physically defensive oriented Rotom-Wash. Krillowatt and Zapdos also don't mind any of what Rotom-Wash has to offer as they quickly shut it down.
**Wallbreakers**: Wallbreakers, such as Hoopa-U, Tapu Lele, and offensive Tomohawk overwhlem Rotom-Wash's defenses quite easily due to their incredible damage output. However, they have to be careful switching into Volt Switch, as Rotom-W will escape.
- Rotom-W's typing and ability leaves it with only 1 weakness to Grass-type moves, which are uncommon as well as a powerful immunity to Ground-type attacks. With access to Volt Switch, Hydro Pump, and a decent Special Attack stat, Rotom-W can pivot while threatening out Ground-types that might try to block it
- Because of these reasons Rotom-Wash fits nicely onto voltturn and bulky offense oriented teams functioning as a decent pivot that is able gain momentum, checking Landorus-T, etc.
- Pain Split is Rotom-W's only form of recovery, and while Rotom is able to use it well with its low base HP stat, it's still unreliable.
- Because Rotom-Wash has this unreliable form of recovery and fewer coverage options, it receives a lot of competition against other Volt Switch users such as Cyclohm and Krillowatt. However, what sets it apart is its access to Will-O-Wisp and Levitate.

Moves
========
- Volt Switch allows Rotom-Wash to pivot out almost effortlessly. Keep in mind however this doesn't include Pokemon immune to Electric-type attacks such as Excadrill, Colossoil, Cawmodore, Voodoom, Zygarde, and Garchomp.
- Hydro Pump is essential for dealing with opposing Ground-, Fire-, and Rock-types that inhabit the CAP metagame. Some examples of these Pokemon are Landorus-Therian, Fidgit, Gliscor, Stratagem, and Heatran.
- Pain Split is imperative to replenish its health on targets with higher HP.
- Defog enables Rotom-Wash to remove entry hazards, which is important as it relieves some pressure from the team.
- Will-O-Wisp enables Rotom-Wash to pressure and cripple most physical threats that it pivots into such as Landorus-Therian, Tapu-Bulu, and Kitsunoh
- Rotom-Wash is able to successfully lure in other bulky Pokemon and cripple them thanks to its access to Toxic. Pyroak is perfect example of a Pokemon that Rotom-Wash can cripple. Other examples include Tangrowth, Mega Venusaur, and other Rotom-Wash
Set Details
========
- In order to successfully pivot into physical threats Rotom-Wash needs to maximize its defenses with a Bold nature and the presented EVs.
- The Special Defense investment allows Rotom-Wash to be 3HKO’d by offensive Tomohawk’s Hurricane.
- Leftovers provides Rotom-Wash with a secondary form of recovery which in turn increases it longevity later in the game.
- If Rotom-Wash needs to pivot into more special attacking threats it runs a set of 248 HP / 144 Def / and finally 116 SpD with a Calm nature. This allows it to more easily check Ash-Greninja and Volkraken.
Usage Tips
========
- Rotom-Wash is most easily switched into threats it is most capable of checking such as Landorus-T (non Smack Down variants), Fidgit, Revenankh, Salamence, Mega Pinsir, Tornadus-Theian, defensive Tomohawk, and Excadrill lacking the ability Mold Breaker.
- Cripple offensive threats and alleviate pressure early in the game by using Will-O-Wisp. Will-O-Wisp should be used when forcing a switch or tanking a hit.
- Gain back momentum with Volt Switch after forcing a switch to keep the game in your favor. One should note however that Pokemon that are immune to Electric-type moves will not be affected by Volt Switch making it useless against that particular Pokemon.
- Rotom-Wash doesn't appreciate taking any unnecessary damage so it is best to try to be conservative with HP only pivoting in when necessary.
- By using Pain Split, Rotom-Wash is able to restore bits and pieces of its HP after losing HP. This allows it to more easily take on and beat high HP threats such as Colossoil more easily by restoring HP and chipping down the opposing Pokemon.
Team Options
========
- Pokemon with the move U-turn such as Mega Scizor, Syclant, and Volkraken are able to form a VoltTurn core with Rotom-Wash.
- because Grass-type is the only weakness Rotom-Wash has it appreciates teammates that can handle them such as Heatran, Tomohawk, and Mollux.
- Heavily offensive Pokemon such as wallbreakers and wincons that are threatened by Ice-, Ground-, or Flying-types appreciate Rotom-Wash as their pivot. Some examples of these are Mega Crucibelle, Double Dance Landorus-Therian, and Zygarde.
- Fire- and Grass-types are able to form Fire Water Grass cores with Rotom-Wash. A more prevalent core, as an example, is the infamous Mega Venusaur, Heatran, Rotom-Wash core or the Rotom-Wash, Heatran, Ferrothorn core.
- Sweepers and wallbreakers that are easily beaten by revenge killers often appreciate Rotom-W's slow Volt Swithes. Examples include Landorus-Therian, Mega Gardevoir, and Zygarde
- Rotom-Wash resists most of the tiers Priority moves which makes it a valuable teammate for Pokemon that dislike being struck by priority. Examples are Landorus-Therian, Zygarde, Mega Manectric, Weavile, and Syclant.
- Pokemon that appreciate gained momentum and VoltTurn teams pair extremely well with Rotom-Wash. Pokemon such as Landorus-Therian, Magearna, Cyclohm, Mega Mawile, and Tapu Bulu.
- Rotom-Wash provides its teammates with slow Volt Switch support meaning they can come in for free as long as Rotom-Wash is slower then the opposing Pokemon
- Pokemon that appreciate bulky Grass-types lured in such as Flyinium Z Landorus-Therian, Offensive Tomohawk, and Syclant all appreciate the momentum that Rotom-Wash provides them with.

Other Options
=============
- Instead of using Pain Split, Rotom-Wash can run Rest in conjunction with Chesto Berry to fully restore its HP once per game. Chesto Berry wakes Rotom-Wash up right away in order to keep your momentum up; after Chesto Berry is consumed Rest becomes mediocre
- Depending on your team, Thunder Wave can be run over Will-O-Wisp to cripple faster Pokemon. Thunder Wave should be used if your team is weak to most common wallbreakers and or sweepers such as Mega Charizard X, Mega Gardevoir, and Aurumoth
- Rotom-Wash can also run Trick and a Choice Specs or Choice Scarf in order to cripple a defensive threat on the opposing team.
