Welcome to the latest edition of the Team Rater Competition! The tier this time around will be OU. For each round we'll post a team, and participants will have one week to complete a rate of said team. When the round is over, the participants who submitted the best rates will move onto the next round. If you're currently involved in or are looking to start rating OU teams, I highly encourage you to participate as this promises to be a great learning experience. Here's to a fun and competitive tournament!

Important notes:
  • The rates in the final two rounds will count towards the Team Rater
  • The winner will be awarded voice status in the RMT room on PS if they have shown an interest in getting involved (If you are currently an active voice and win, you may be promoted to driver).
  • Each round will last one week. Failure to rate the team within the one week time period will result in disqualification unless you're able to give us a valid reason. Please only sign up if you can commit to rating one team every week for the next month.
  • If you are eliminated and would like some feedback on your rate and how you can improve going forward, feel free to ask us.
Participants please PM your rate to Team Pokepals and celticpride. You have until 23:59 EST on Friday, 2 September to submit your rate.

Here's the team for Round 1, and with that, good luck to our participants :)

Kyurem-Black @ Life Orb
Ability: Teravolt
EVs: 4 Atk / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Mild Nature
- Ice Beam
- Earth Power
- Fusion Bolt
- Roost

Kyurem-Black is the main wallbreaker of the team, it supports Lopunny with Boltbeam coverage which hits most of Lopunny's switchins including Lando-T and Tangrowth. Roost keeps it healthy because Life Orb recoil and Rocks damage hurt.

Garchomp @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Rough Skin
EVs: 240 HP / 176 Def / 92 Spe
Impish Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Earthquake
- Dragon Tail
- Fire Blast

Garchomp is able to punish physical attackers with Rough Skin + Rocky Helmet and acts as the team's main defensive switch in. Garchomp is also able to provide Stealth Rocks and helps the team by handling Mega Scizor and Bisharp.

Lopunny-Mega @ Lopunnite
Ability: Scrappy
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Return
- Ice Punch
- High Jump Kick
- Fake Out

Lopunny is the mon the team was built around. It's speed tier allows it to outspeed most of the tier and is thus able to threaten offensive teams. Ice Punch allows Lopunny to hit Lando-T and Garchomp for major damage, as they are both expected to switch into Lopunny.

Tangrowth @ Assault Vest
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD
Sassy Nature
- Leaf Storm
- Knock Off
- Earthquake
- Hidden Power [Ice]

Tangrowth helps with switching into water types, most notably Keldeo and Rotom-Wash. Leaf Storm allows Tangrowth to 1HKO Manaphy after Stealth Rocks and it is also able to survive an Ice Beam from Manaphy after a Tail Glow.

Rotom-Wash @ Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 248 HP / 232 Def / 28 SpD
Bold Nature
- Volt Switch
- Hydro Pump
- Will-O-Wisp
- Pain Split

Rotom annoys Lopunny and Kyurem's checks, spreads burns and brings momentum to have the opportunity to bring Kyurem and Lopunny in safely. In an ideal situation it volt switches into Latis, Grass mons or Spd walls, which Lop and Kyub can take advantage of.

Heatran @ Leftovers
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 244 HP / 12 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Lava Plume
- Toxic
- Earth Power
- Taunt

The team was pretty weak to Talonflame and Scizor, because Comp gets burned on the switch or just widdled down so it can't check Scizor reliably. Toxic cripples fat waters with which Kyub and Lop have problems with. Earth Power hits other Heatran, Zard X and Volcanion. Taunt prevents Clef from setting up and improves the stall matchup. Max speed to outspeed max speed Sciz and max HP to take all kinds of hits.
