This post was just an announcement. Scroll down for updated information. -scp
Hello everyone

As you know, the Monotype community is a largely based one due to the large amount of leagues it has. However, most of them are in a different server and they aren't much involved in the community. There is a large possibility that we can see some talent in those users, and this is the perfect opportunity for them to shine! Similarly to Ubers, PU, and Doubles Seasonals, the Monotype Seasonals will consist of four tournaments throughout the year. These tournaments will be double elimination in best of three format. In each seasonal, players earn points that will be tallied in a leaderboard where the top 16 of said leaderboard will duke it out to be declared the champion of the tour! Additionally, doing well in this tournament will increase your chances of being drafted in next year's MPL.

The sign-ups of the tournament will start roughly 1-2 weeks after the end of MPL. Stay tuned!

What are Power Rankings?
Monotype isn't a part of any official tournament here on Smogon. However, we would still like to establish who is the best of the best throughout the year, and crown a yearly champion. As a complement to the three other major Monotype events*, the Monotype Seasonals serve as the major individual tournaments throughout the year. These tournaments are held to give players incentive to hone their skills over time and reward players that consistently battle well.

The Seasonals are held in the Circuit Tournaments forum right here on Smogon, so keep an eye out if you're interested in participating! Who knows? You might just become the Monotype Champion!
*Monotype Premier League, Monotype Ladder Tour, and the Monotype Open in OMGS

Current Power Rankings
The power rankings are updated weekly as the seasonal tournaments progress.

Scoring System
Players are awarded 2 points for each winner's bracket win, 1 point for each loser's bracket win, and 1 point for winning in the first round of the tour.

A player must play their battles (not win via activity/coin flip) to be awarded their points. If they win in a round after the activity decision, the points from the round where they received the activity win will be added to their score.

If you find an error in the scoring, please let scpinion know.

Note: I'm still updating the information from Spring Seasonals, so the current scores from it are subject to change.

Two updates:

1) After a bit more thought, I found some things wrong with the original scoring system...

Among other things, the scoring system completely invalidated wins in the early rounds of a seasonal. This was unfair to players that won matches, but made a semi-early exit. For example, someone that lost their first match then won the next two received the same number of points as someone that didn't bother to join the tour. I used that scoring system because it is the format some standard tiers use. Obviously I should have looked at it more closely....

The updated scoring system is described above. It is simple: you get points for wins.

2) This is just a UI update. You can hover over the points from a particular seasonal to see the player's run through the tour.
Key
w = win;
- = loser's only round and player was in winner's bracket
l = loss
a = activity win, but player didn't win later in tour (no points awarded for result)
aw = activity win that awarded points
u = unknown result (pm me to fix this)

Example: w, w, -, w, -, l, aw, w, l
The example player gets 7 points: 2 winner's bracket wins (4 points), 2 loser's bracket wins (2 points), won 1st round match (1 point)

Example: w, w, -, w, -, l, a, l
The example player gets 5 points: 2 winner's bracket wins (4 points), won 1st round match (1 point), no points awarded for activity win in loser's bracket because player didn't win later in tour.
