[Monotype/Dark] Sharpedo

[OVERVIEW]

**Dark**:

Through its great offensive stats that prevent it from being hard walled by physically defensive Pokemon and its access to Speed Boost pre-Mega Evolution, Mega Sharpedo is one of the best Mega Evolutions available to Dark-type teams. Its ability, Strong Jaw, allows it to run Ice Fang effectively and boosts the damage output from Crunch immensely. Although it gains slight boosts to its defensive stats, Mega Sharpedo still isn't able to take even resisted attacks well and it has to give up a moveslot in order to run Protect to make use of its base forme's ability. Mega Sharpedo also faces competition for the Mega slot from Mega Tyranitar, as both play the role of a sweeper. Regular Sharpedo can be run with with Life Orb as a great special attacker, allowing it to sweep late-game or weaken opposing teams for another teammate to clean. Both Sharpedo and Mega Sharpedo also rely heavily on teams being weakened in order to net KOs on most Pokemon.

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========

Protect is necessary in order to acquire boosts from Speed Boost before Mega Evolving and is also an option for scouting for an opposing Pokemon's set. Crunch is Mega Sharpedo's strongest attack and hits anything that doesn't resist it extremely hard due to Strong Jaw. Waterfall hits Ground-, Rock-, and Fire-type teams for more damage than Crunch and is also a good option for hitting Pokemon such as Heracross and Bisharp that resist Crunch. Waterfall also has a 20% flinch chance, which is really useful for Mega Sharpedo considering its high Speed and inability to take attacks well. Hydro Pump can be opted for over Waterfall to hit Skarmory and Hippowdon for a 2HKO. Ice Fang hits Grass-, Dragon-, and Flying-type teams for super effective damage and is also boosted by Strong Jaw, allowing Mega Sharpedo to get past Garchomp, Hydreigon, Shiftry, and Dragonite.

Set Details
========

Maximum Attack investment allows Mega Sharpedo to deal as much damage as possible. Maximum Speed investment with a Jolly Nature allows Mega Sharpedo to outpace any Choice Scarf user under base 105 Speed after just one Speed boost. A Naive Nature can be opted for when running Hydro Pump in order to make full use of Mega Sharpedo's Special Attack while still not taking increased damage from common physical priority such as Extreme Speed and Sucker Punch. Speed Boost is mandatory on Sharpedo in order to accumulate the necessary Speed for Mega Sharpedo to sweep. An Adamant nature can be used over a Jolly one for more damage output, but it leaves Mega Sharpedo outpaced by Choice Scarf Victini post-Mega Evolution and Choice Scarf Heracross pre-Mega Evolution if it has only acquired one Speed boost.

Usage Tips
========

Mega Sharpedo should utilize its base forme's ability to the fullest and accumulate as many boosts in Speed as possible in order to sweep. As a result of losing Speed Boost after Mega Evolving, Mega Sharpedo only has one opportunity to sweep with the boosts it gained. Protect also finds utility in allowing Mega Sharpedo to avoid damage from Fake Out and scouting for the move the opposing Pokemon is going for. Attempting a double Protect is an option if Mega Sharpedo needs to outspeed faster Pokemon such as Choice Scarf Terrakion or Choice Scarf Gengar. Mega Sharpedo should avoid switching in on attacks or taking status moves, as even with the boosts in its defenses gained by Mega Evolution it is still a frail Pokemon and its usefulness is hampered greatly by status. Sharpedo can be used early-game without Mega Evolving in order to chip away at teams or revenge kill in order to make it easier for it to clean late-game.

Team Options
========

Mega Sharpedo appreciates Stealth Rock support offered by Tyranitar or Krookodile, as it puts Pokemon such as Mega Medicham into range of being OHKOed. Tyranitar is able to spread paralysis through Thunder Wave, making it easier for Mega Sharpedo to sweep even if it has not accumulated many Speed boosts. Mandibuzz is another great partner that offers both entry hazard control and physical bulk to lessen Mega Sharpedo's susceptibility to priority. It is also a good check for Fighting-type Pokemon, and a notable niche it has is being able to take on Breloom due to Overcoat blocking Spore. Sableye can also take Fighting-type attacks directed towards Mega Sharpedo and can spread burns in order to whittle teams down for Mega Sharpedo to clean later. Sableye and Bisharp can also function as hazard control deterrents, since Sableye's typing allows it to spinblock and Bisharp's ability Defiant helps it punish Defoggers. Bisharp and Crawdaunt are hard-hitting physical attackers that can weaken checks to Mega Sharpedo such as Porygon2, Ferrothorn, and Mandibuzz, although the latter's coverage is redundant with Mega Sharpedo's. Bisharp in particular is very threatening to Fairy-type Pokemon that trouble Mega Sharpedo. Knock Off support from users such as Weavile and Bisharp is generally appreciated, as items such as Eviolite and Leftovers can make it harder for Mega Sharpedo to sweep. Hydreigon and Hoopa-U are able to beat physical walls like Mandibuzz, Porygon2, and Mega Venusaur. Hoopa-U in particular is capable of revenge killing or checking many Fighting-type Pokemon.

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========

Protect must be run in order for Sharpedo to safely accumulate the boosts in Speed that it needs. Hydro Pump is Sharpedo's hardest hitting move and is able to OHKO most Fire-, Rock-, and Ground-types. Ice Beam offers good coverage by being able to hit Flying-, Dragon-, and Grass-type teams for more damage than any other of its moves. Dark Pulse completes Sharpedo's coverage by hitting Psychic- and Ghost-type Pokemon for more damage, as well as being its best option to hit Pokemon that resist its coverage. Dark Pulse also has a 20% chance to make the opposing Pokemon flinch, allowing Sharpedo to not have to take a hit that would likely OHKO it.

Set Details
========

Life Orb gives Sharpedo's attacks more power in exchange for its HP; however, Sharpedo isn't capable of taking most attacks and greatly appreciates being able to deal as much damage as possible while still having the ability to change moves. Maximum Special Attack investment gives Sharpedo's attacks as much damage output as possible. Maximum Speed investment allows Sharpedo to outspeed Choice Scarf base 80 Speed Pokemon such as Hoopa-U, Togekiss, and Gardevoir. A Modest nature is utilized in order to maximize damage output. Speed Boost must be ran on Sharpedo in order for it to accumulate the Speed it needs to outpace and clean opposing teams.

Usage Tips
========

Protect can be used for scouting and avoiding damage from Fake Out users like Mega Lopunny and Mega Medicham. Sharpedo should be used as a late-game cleaner, but it can also be used as a revenge killer against slower Pokemon on teams that can't switch into its coverage. Using Sharpedo early-game is an option to make it easier for it or a teammate to clean late-game. Sharpedo's mediocre defenses make it hard for it to even take resisted attacks well, and as a result it shouldn't be switched in on any attacks. Sharpedo is also extremely susceptible to priority, making it necessary for priority users to be gone when you attempt a late-game sweep. Sharpedo should avoid taking any form of status, as paralysis quarters its Speed and thus makes it easy to deal with it, while poison and burn wear it down quickly if considering Life Orb recoil as well. As a result of most people expecting Mega Sharpedo on Dark-type teams, Sharpedo can deal with the physical walls it lures in and can help pave the way for another sweeper on the team.

Team Options
========

Sharpedo generally functions best on a more offense-oriented teams and appreciates Stealth Rock support from Tyranitar, Krookodile, or Bisharp in order to net the OHKOs it needs to sweep weakened teams. Dragon Dance Mega Tyranitar is a great teammate for Sharpedo, as both of them are able to sweep and either one can be sacrificed to make it easier for the other to sweep. Tyranitar can also be used to tank special attacks and spread status through Thunder Wave while Sableye can spread burns to whittle opposing teams for Sharpedo. Sableye, Mandibuzz, and Hoopa-U can all serve as Fighting-type checks and the former is also able to function as a decent stallbreaker to get rid of passive Pokemon like Chansey and Zapdos. Mandibuzz offers a form of entry hazard control and can run Toxic in order to weaken Pokemon like Gastrodon, Porygon2, and Cradily to help Sharpedo sweep late-game. Mandibuzz and Hydreigon are able to function as pivots with U-turn to bring in Sharpedo safely. Hydreigon and Hoopa-U are also able to pressure teams and weaken them for Sharpedo to clean late-game. Sharpedo appreciates Mega Houndoom as a teammate, as the two are capable of weakening their shared checks and Mega Houndoom is also able to take on the Grass-type Pokemon that trouble Sharpedo such as Ferrothorn and Mega Venusaur. Bisharp is able to take on Fairy-types, like Clefable and Klefki, that trouble Sharpedo and also weaken teams early-game for Sharpedo to clean. Sharpedo can also be used to get rid of checks to Bisharp such as Hippowdon, Gliscor, and Skarmory. Knock Off support is greatly appreciated, as there are many viable users of it, including Bisharp and Krookodile, and the removal of the opposing Pokemon's item makes it easier to pressure teams by getting rid of troublesome items like Eviolite and Assault Vest.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
==============

**Dark**:

Destiny Bond can be utilized to gain a potential KO on a threat to the team that Sharpedo can't KO; however, it limits Sharpedo's coverage options even further. Poison Jab is an option to hit Fairy-type teams harder, although the coverage sees little use outside of that matchup and Fairy-types are generally handled better by Mega Sharpedo's teammates. Zen Headbutt is another option but only offers coverage against Fighting-type Pokemon, as Crunch does more damage to anything that doesn't resist it. Timid is a viable nature for Sharpedo but the drop in damage output is very noticeable and the only notable benefit from running it is being able to outspeed and deal a decent amount of damage to Choice Scarf Heracross after only one boost.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Dark**:

**Fighting-types**: Fighting-types such as Keldeo and Heracross can take any standard attack from full HP and OHKO back with their STAB attacks, though Zen Headbutt can threaten them.

**Fairy-types**: Fairy-types such as Azumarill and Clefable can take any attack from Sharpedo and OHKO it back with their STAB move, although they can't switch in on a Poison Jab.

**Bulky Grass-types**: Many Grass-types are capable of taking the standard Ice-type coverage move run by Sharpedo if they are at full HP and can OHKO back with their STAB moves. Ferrothorn and Mega Venusaur in particular can take any attack and OHKO with Power Whip and Giga Drain, respectively.

**Priority**: Mach Punch from Breloom and Extreme Speed from Choice Band Dragonite threaten to OHKO Mega Sharpedo without any prior damage.

**Status**: Paralysis makes Sharpedo more susceptible to being revenge killed as a result of the drop in Speed. Poison and burns wear down Sharpedo, making it harder for it to sweep.

**Mixed Walls**: Pokemon that are bulky in both Defense and Special Defense are able to beat Sharpedo by slowly whittling it. Alomomola and Porygon are both able to Toxic stall it, and the latter has also access to Discharge and Thunderbolt.

**Unexpected Items**: Slowbro and Mew can both tank any attack from Sharpedo with Colbur Berry and use Thunder Wave or Will-O-Wisp, though the latter just wears down the Life Orb set.

[OVERVIEW]
  • A solid amount of damage is needed on Heracross for Adamant Waterfall to OHKO, so I'd find a better example or say how Heracross needs to be weakened a little bit.
  • After you mention its great mixed offensive stats, say how some physical walls such as Skarmory can't effectively check Sharpedo because it can potentially carry Hydro Pump.
Mega Sharpedo:

Moves

  • Give examples for walls that Hydro Pump hits.
  • Mention Waterfall's chance to flinch.
Set Details
  • Provide examples for Pokemon that Jolly Mega Sharpedo outspeeds.
Usage Tips
  • Mega Sharpedo is strongly crippled by any status condition, so explain that it should be kept away from it.
  • Its bulk is pretty bad so mention how it shouldn't be switched in even on resisted attacks.
Team Options
  • Give examples for checks that Bisharp and Crawdaunt can weaken for Mega Sharpedo.
  • Mention how Mandibuzz is also a good check for most Fighting-types, notably Breloom because it's immune to Spore and doesn't take much damage from any of its attacks.
Life Orb:

Moves
  • Mention Dark Pulse's chance to flinch.
Usage Tips
  • Again, mention status because it cripples Sharpedo's longevity or sweeping / revenge killing capabilities.
Checks and Counters
  • Change "Prankster" to "Status" and talk about how any status strongly cripples Sharpedo.
  • Make a section for Fairy-types as all of them threate Sharpedo since its primary set doesn't carry coverage to hit them for super effective damage.
  • Sharpedo lacks recovery so residual damage from hazards strongly cripples its longevity.
  • Bulky Grass-types such as Mega Venusaur and Ferrothorn can tank Sharpedo's attacks and KO it.
  • Mixed walls such as Porygon2 and Alomomola can effectively wall Sharpedo and slowly take it out.
  • Keldeo resists all of Sharpedo's primary attacks and threatens it with Secret Sword.
After implementations, QC 1/3

[OVERVIEW]
-Mention how its its typing is great offensively but rather lacklustre defensively.
-Make a note of its awkward speed tier before mega evolving, and how it almost always needs a boost in order to be efficient.

Moves:
-Mention how Crunch OHKOs Mega Medicham of Adamant natured, which would otherwise be a hassle for Dark teams after Sableye is gone.
-Mention how it needs 224 EVs in Sp Attack to 2HKO Max HP Cobalion after Leftovers recovery.

-Give a few examples of what Timid can outspeed at +1, such as Cboice Scarf Meloetta, Darmanitan and how it ties with Kyurem-B.

Team Options:
Why do the team options look identical to those of Mega Sharpedo? Surely a Mega Sharpedo and a regular Life Orb Sharpedo would have different teammates?

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other options:
-Mention Subtitute, and how it grants Sharpedo the safety of attacking behind a substitute and being immune to status while doing so, at the expense of an extra moveslot.
-Remove the part about Zen Headbutt hitting Poison types, as STAB Strong Jaw Crunch does more.

Checks and counters:
-Mention how most of its checks have to watch out for the occasional Destiny Bond.

Quick note. Mega Sharpedo is the way to refer to Mega Sharpedo. Sharpedo cannot be used for Mega Sharpedo. Sharpedo is for Sharpedo. Mega Sharpedo is for Mega Sharpedo.

Overview:
- I wouldn't mention its movepool in regards to getting passed physical walls, since it's really just using Hydro Pump.
- I also don't like Cobalion in this list. You have almost no chance of ever 2HKOing it even with Naive.
- Talk about what coverage moves Mega Sharpedo can run. Ice Fang, which is boosted by Strong Jaw, should definitely be mentioned.

Sweeper:
Set:
- I'm pretty sure Adamant is just bad? I can only think of the OHKO on Mega Medicham, but if you have Sableye that's not really the biggest issue anyway. You can't Protect -> Mega Evolve to beat Choice Scarf Heracross if you're Adamant. And you'll be outsped by the likes of Choice Scarf Kyurem-B and Choice Scarf Victini after you Mega Evolve anyway if you can't get +2.
- I'd also put Naive on, just because Hydro Pump is pretty good.

name: Sweeper
move 1: Protect
move 2: Crunch
move 3: Waterfall / Hydro Pump
move 4: Ice Fang
item: Sharpedonite
ability: Speed Boost
nature: Jolly / Naive
evs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe

Moves:
- Give an example of something that Waterfall hits hard. Heracross would do fine here. By the way, mention that the flinch chance is pretty nifty given that Mega Sharpedo is quite fast and can't take hits.
- I'd give examples of what Ice Fang hits. Breloom, Garchomp, and Dragonite are great.

Set Details:
- I'd specifically mention getting outsped by Victini post-Mega Evolution and Heracross pre-Mega Evolution for why Adamant isn't as good.
- Naive > Hasty to avoid taking extra damage from priority moves such as Fake Out and Extreme Speed
- Explain that Speed Boost gives Sharpedo the Speed to let it sweep.

Usage Tips:
- I'd add that Protect can also be used to avoid Fake Out chip damage from the likes of Mega Medicham and Mega Lopunny
- You should talk about chipping away at its checks early-game without Mega Evolving to help it sweep later.

Team Options:
- Explain that Stealth Rock helps put foes such as Mega Medicham into range of its attacks such as Crunch.
- Specifically mention the use of Knock Off from Bisharp and Crawdaunt to remove Eviolites and Leftovers.
- Bisharp's use against Fairy-types is also good.
- What's the significance of Sableye spreading burns? Go into some detail.
- Give wall examples for Hoopa-U and Hydreigon.
- Add that Hoopa-U can serve as a check to Fighting-types as well

Life Orb
Set Details:
- Explain that Life Orb is used to make Sharpedo stronger at relatively low cost. It's not surviving hits anyway, so the recoil is meaningless in exchange for the great damage.
- Explain Speed Boost again.

Usage Tips:
- The same two things I commented about for the Mega set can be applied here too. Protect is necessary to help it avoid Fake Out from Mega Lopunny and Mega Medicham. (It also gets outsped by both at +0) And dealing damage to switch-ins early makes it harder for them to stop it later.
- I'd also add that it can serve as a decent lure / wallbreaker as well, breaking down many physical walls expecting the physical set.

Team Options
Please don't copy and paste from one to the other. At least rephrase it if it's good for both sets. But in general, two sets shouldn't have noticeably similar Team Options.
- Stealth Rock helps slowly wear down foes, making it easier for Sharpedo to sweep.
- Mandibuzz and Hydreigon can U-turn into it, bringing it in safely.
- Also give examples for Toxic Mandibuzz. Something like Gastrodon.
- Which Fairy-types is Bisharp breaking for Sharpedo? Clefable comes to mind.
-
- Add Hoopa-U checking Fighting-types.
- Dragon Dance Mega Tyranitar is a great sweeper that appreciates Sharpedo's help in taking out checks such as Skarmory and Hippowdon. I'd also tie this in with Bisharp too, which also likes having Skarmory and Hippowdon off the field.
- What's the significance of burns from Sableye? Unlike Mega Sharpedo, Sharpedo has basically no chance at ever surviving hits. I'd say that Sableye serves as a good stallbreaker, able to nullify and slowly remove walls such as Chansey and Zapdos, helping Sharpedo get passed them.
- Mega Houndoom and Sharpedo can wear down their shared checks and eventually sweep a team together. Mega Houndoom also serves as a great check to Grass-types, such as Ferrothorn and Mega Venusaur.

Other Options:
- I've honestly never heard of any Hidden Power on Sharpedo or using Surf. Aqua Jet is really bad too. I'd just remove these 4 outright. If you really want though, I guess Hidden Power Fire can be kept, although I really think it's awful.
- Remove Zen Headbutt hitting Poison-types.
- Timid for the LO set can probably go here. It's pretty awful but at least you can specifically "revenge kill" Heracross with Hydro Pump after just one Protect.

Nice work, QC 2/3

Symphonii comments here:
Some of your changes weren't "wrong", but they aren't particularly good either. For example, I would agree that Mega Sharpedo's typing isn't good defensively, but that's not relevant when Mega Sharpedo isn't supposed to be taking hits in the first place.

You hit a lot of good conceptual notes, but some of the more metagame-involved comments are a bit questionable. For example, max Special Attack Mega Sharpedo isn't a set and is quite awful actually. Similarly, Substitute is just a gimmick built to cteam a type that Dark teams beats anyway (the original set was for Water teams, I believe)

(Also, Sharpedo has a Speed tie with Choice Scarf Darmanitan, it doesn't outspeed it.)

Honestly, you did a good job, such as commenting that Team Options should not be the same and Zen Headbutt not hitting Poison-types harder than Crunch. Just need a little more attention to detail, I think!

As a result of most people expecting Mega Sharpedo on Dark-type teams, Sharpedo can act as a lure for physical walls and can help pave the way for another sweeper on the team.

Sharpedo generally functions best on a more offense oriented team and it appreciates Stealth Rock support from Tyranitar, Krookodile or Bisharp in order to net the OHKOs it needs to sweep weakened teams. Dragon Dance Mega Tyranitar is a great teammate for Sharpedo, as the two are both able to sweep and using one to make it easier for the other to sweep is a viable option. Mandibuzz offers a form of hazard control and can run Toxic in order to weaken Pokemon like Gastrodon, Porygon2 and Cradily to help Sharpedo sweep late-game. Mandibuzz and Hydreigon are both able to run U-turn effectively to bring in Sharpedo safely. **Lures**: Slowbro and Mew can both tank any attack from Sharpedo with Colbur Berry and Thunder Wave or Will-O-Wisp it respectively. Although Will-O-Wisp just wears down the Life Orb set.
Not an official QC but here you go. Implement what you like!

Overview:
- What are a few qualities you can list about Mega Tyranitar in its competition with Mega Sharpdeo?

Team Options:
- "Sableye can also take Fighting-type attacks directed towards Mega Sharpedo thanks to its immunity to the type
- Could also say how Sableye can be a great spinblocker to the team. Mega Sharpedo really appreciates keeping entry hazards on the opponent's side of the field. I'd explain something about that.
- I'd mention what viable Pokemon are good Knock Off users for Mega Sharpedo. Things like Crawdaunt, Weavile, and Bisharp.

Team Options 2:
- The team options are a little bit out of order. I would transition into each of them. For example, Hydreigon was mentioned earlier in the Team Options and mentioned in the last bit as a wallbreaker. I would just group that with what you talked earlier about it just to keep the section organized. The same thing can be said about Sableye and Tyranitar.

Other Options:
- I'd mention that Destiny Bond can also help get rid of a Pokemon that would pose a huge threat to its teammates. A good example would be Keldeo. However, Sharpedo would lose out on one of its coverage moves.
- I would explain why Poison Jab shouldn't be used over the other moves above in the sets. Hoopa-U also runs Gunk Shot and Bisharp can help eliminate them with its STAB Iron Head.
- Why isn't Zen Headbutt that reliable?

I'm not a fan of the Whimsicott mention when discussing Ice Fang since it will just Stun Spore you (assuming it hits, you lose 25% of the time and are unable to sweep 100% of the time). I understand why you have it (Grass type that resists Dark and can't use Mach Punch), but I think something else to illustrate the point would be better. Hydreigon is the most obvious/common Ice Fang target that is missing. If you really want a Grass type there, then Chesnaught or Virizion are better (but still not great) options imo.

Otherwise, QC 3/3

Shiftry is a decent example too, if you want a Grass-type (Probably should, since you did name it in the list). It's not horribly uncommon, being the only Defog user.

**Dark**

Through it's its great offensive stats allowing that allow it to not be hard walled by physically defensive Pokemon and its access to Speed Boost pre-Mega Evolution, Mega Sharpedo is one of the best Mega Evolutions available to Dark-type teams. It's Its post-Mega Evolution ability, Strong Jaw, allows Mega Sharpedo it to run Ice Fang effectively and boosts the damage output from Crunch immensely. Due Thanks to its typing and coverage options options, Mega Sharpedo is able to ease the match up matchup against Flying-, Dragon-, Fire-, Rock- Rock-, and Ground-type teams. (Does this really make sense? you'd expect it to ease the matchup against, say, fairy and dark, since those are the types that by definition are strong against dark itself. ) Although it gains slight boosts in to its defensive stats, Mega Sharpedo still isn't able to take even resisted attacks well and it has to give up a moveslot in order to run Protect to make use of its base form's forme's ability. Mega Sharpedo also faces competition for the Mega slot with from Mega Tyranitar Tyranitr, as both play the role of a sweeper. similar roles in being able to sweep opposing teams. Sharpedo can be run in conjunction with Life Orb as a great special attacker, allowing it to late-game sweep late-game or weaken opposing teams for another teammate to clean. Both Sharpedo and Mega Sharpedo also rely heavily on teams being weakened in order to net KOs on most Pokemon.

Protect is necessary in order to acquire boosts from Speed Boost before Mega Evolving and is also an option for scouting for an opposing Pokemon's set. Crunch is Mega Sharpedo's strongest attack and hits anything that doesn't resist it extremely hard due to its ability Strong Jaw. Waterfall hits Ground-, Rock-, and Fire-type teams for more damage than Crunch and is also a good option for hitting Pokemon, such as Heracross and Bisharp, that resist Crunch. Waterfall also has a 20% chance to flinch the opponent foe, which is really useful for Mega Sharpedo considering it's its high speed Speed and inability to take attacks well. Hydro Pump can be opted for over Waterfall to hit Skarmory and Hippowdon for a 2HKO. Ice Fang hits Grass-, Dragon-, and Flying-type teams for super effective damage and is also boosted by Strong Jaw, allowing Mega Sharpedo to get past Garchomp, Hydreigon, Shiftry Shiftry, and Dragonite.

Set Details

Maximum Attack investment allows Mega Sharpedo to deal as much damage as possible. Maximum Speed investment with a Jolly Nature allows Mega Sharpedo to outpace any scarf Choice Scarf user under base 105 Speed after just one speed Speed boost. A Naive Nature can be opted for when running Hydro Pump in order to make full use of Mega Sharpedo's Special Attack while still not taking increased damage from common physical priority such as Extreme Speed and Sucker Punch. Speed Boost is mandatory on Sharpedo in order to accumulate the necessary Speed pre-Mega Evolution necessary for Mega Sharpedo to sweep. An Adamant nature can be used over a Jolly one for more damage output output, but it leaves Mega Sharpedo outpaced by Choice Scarf Victini post-Mega Evolution and Choice Scarf Heracross pre-Mega Evolution if it has only acquired one speed Speed boost.

Usage Tips
========

Mega Sharpedo should utilize its base form's forme's Ability, ability Speed Boost, Boost to the fullest and accumulate as many boosts in speed Speed as possible is in order to necessary to sweep. As a result of having Strong Jaw after Mega Evolving, Mega Evolution gaining it the ability Strong Jaw, Mega Sharpedo only has one opportunity to sweep with the boosts in Speed its it gained. gained prior to Mega Evolving.

Mega Sharpedo appreciates Stealth Rock support offered by Tyranitar or Krookodile Krookodile, as it puts Pokemon such as Mega Medicham into range of being OHKOd. OHKOed. Tyranitar is able to spread paralysis through Thunder Wave, making it easier for Mega Sharpedo to sweep even if it has not accumulated many Speed boosts making it easier for Mega Sharpedo to accumulate the amount of speed boosts it needs to sweep. ( i guess this is what you meant? it doesnt really make sense otherwise, unless you imply that you should rely on that full paralysis chance ) Mandibuzz is another great partner that offers both hazard control and physical bulk to lessen Mega Sharpedo's susceptibility to priority. Mandibuzz is also a good check for Fighting-type Pokemon and a notable niche it has is being able to take on Breloom due to it's ability Overcoat blocking Spore. Sableye can also take Fighting-type attacks directed towards Mega Sharpedo and can spread burns in order to whittle teams down for Mega Sharpedo to clean later. Sableye and Bisharp can also function as hazard control deterrents deterrents, since through Sableye's typing allowing allows it spinblock and Bisharp's ability Defiant allowing to to punish defoggers. Bisharp in particular is very threatening to Fairy-type Pokemon that trouble Mega Sharpedo. Knock Off support from users such as Weavile or Bisharp is generally appreciated by Mega Sharpedo Sharpedo, as items such as Eviolite and Leftovers can make it harder for it to sweep. Hydreigon and Hoopa-Unbound Hoopa-U are able to beat physical walls like Mandibuzz, Porygon2 Porygon2, and Mega Venusaur. Usage Tips

Sharpedo's mediocre defenses make it hard for it to even take resisted attacks well and as a result it shouldn't be switched in on any attacks. Sharpedo is also extremely susceptible to priority, making it necessary for priority users to be gone when attempting a late-game sweep. Sharpedo should avoid taking any form of status status, as paralysis as Paralysis quarters its Speed and thus makes it easy to deal with it while being Poisoned poisoned or Burned burned wears it down Sharpedo quickly due to the if considering recoil it takes from Life Orb recoil as well. As a result of most people expecting Mega Sharpedo on Dark-type teams, Sharpedo can deal with the physical walls it lures in act as a lure for physical walls and can help pave the way for another sweeper on the team.

Sharpedo generally functions best on a more offense oriented offense-oriented team teams and it appreciates Stealth Rock support from Tyranitar, Krookodile Krookodile, or Bisharp in order to net the OHKOs it needs to sweep weakened teams. Dragon Dance Mega Tyranitar is a great teammate for Sharpedo, as both of them the two are both able to sweep and either one can be sacrificed to make it easier for the other to sweep. using one to make it easier for the other to sweep is a viable option. Tyranitar can also be used to tank special attacks and spread status through Thunder Wave while Sableye can spread burns to whittle opposing teams for Sharpedo. Mandibuzz and Hydreigon are able to function as pivots with U-turn to bring in Sharpedo safely. Hydreigon and Hoopa-Unbound Hoopa-U are also able to pressure teams and weaken them for Sharpedo to clean late-game. Sharpedo can also be used to get rid of checks to Bisharp such as Hippowdon, Gliscor Gliscor, and Skarmory. Knock Off support is greatly appreciated appreciated, as there are many viable users of it, including Bisharp and Krookodile, and the removal of the opposing Pokemon's item make makes its it easier to pressure teams by getting rid of troublesome items like Eviolite and Assault Vest.
