Break This Team: Monotype Edition is back and ready for Gen 7! This is a project where we will take a common team or archetype every week and figure out what can beat it! For the interest of the project in a Monotype environment, there is a major rule in the formula: you cannot submit cores of a type that has an advantage against the type of the team given. I don't want to see people submitting Fighting cores to beat a Normal team, or Water cores that can beat a Ground team. On the flipside, Grass cores that can handle a certain Dragon team are more than welcome. The project aims to find ways of handling popular archetypes in the metagame.
Rules:

- Don't posts teams or suggestions for teams here please. PM me.
- Cores should consist of 2-3 pokemon which, of course, share a type. You will need to include a short description of what these mons will do to beat the team given (think RMT pokemon description length).
- Standard Smogon and forum rules apply.
-Two people having two same Pokemon in a core of three is allowed, but only if the sets are different.
-Two people may not have the exact same core.
-Cores must have descriptions.
-If you think there is a type that shouldn't be allowed for a cycle, PM me.

- U-turn

Starting with diggersby, it has the potential to 1v1 every mon on this list. Given that there's no scarf mon on the team, it has the ability to outspeed all of the major threats, while still running adamant. The team also has no earthquake or normal type immunities, allowing it to get easy 1hko's bar slowbro and mew. It can also keep the tempo up by using a fast u-turn into porygon-2 or staraptor vs mew to dodge the willo-o-wisp and allowing them to absorb the nerf'd fire damage. Obviously this doesn't cover slowbro, who would just absorb all hits and then regain its health with either slack off or regenerator. This is what porygon2 is for as well, it can get off a toxic to whittle down slowbro late-game. Given that they can switch to either of the steel mons, there's also foul play which will do a significant amount of damage to mega-metagross, while taking minimal damage from metagross due to its lack of fighting coverage on this set. While tapu lele is a significant threat, it can also be dealt with using porygon2, if it switches into toxic, without having to sack a mon. Finally, bulky staraptor with rocky helmet is to hamper the physical attackers while providing recoil damage. It's the switch-in vs mew, as well, as it doesn't mind taking the will-o-wisp as much, and can stall it out. It can also be used to break through sub from hoopa-u or remove pesky rocks. Overall the team's playstyle is keeping the tempo up to get quick ko's with diggersby, while allowing porygon2 and staraptor to absorb annoying status and hits from some of the dangerous mons.

Hippowdon is mainly there as Sand support for Excadrill. With access to Toxic it can break down bulkier pokemon for Excadrill and Landorus to come in and clean sweep the opposing team. Slack Off allows Hippowdon to regain health through the match and EQ is hippowdons primary stab move which hits Jirachi and Metagross while also breaking Hoopa-U's substitute. Excadrill really will only be clicking 2 moves against this team Earthquake + X-Scissor. With these two moves it covers all pokemon for super effective team and can nearly clean sweep the team. Finally for the last slot since Slowbro can give Excadrill trouble I decided to add Landorus-I due to its great ability to take out physical walls while also being able to outspeed and hit very hard all the team after 1 rock polish boost.

Not really anything to say here. Because there is no Speed Control and Slowbro doesn't run Grass Knot, this team just auto-loses to Sub/DD MegaDos. Just putting Swampert on here for Rocks and because it tanks moves from everything except Lele.

Fun times with rock doggy, as soon as the Slowbro's Colbur Berry is gone things simply start dying to this monster. T-tar's there for annoyances like Metagross and Jirachi who need to be worn down and for trapping weakened mons, and Crad's there mostly to switch in on the Slowbro's Scald after you get a kill with dog and toxicing Mew since it's no Taunt. I would say this wins alot of the time, but then for SOME reason the sample is running Bullet Punch Metagross and Jirachi so you probably would honestly have to use a Rhyp somewhere. (Who runs Rock without Rhyp though >_>)

Just some nitpicks I had with the team (mostly mechanics changes were not factored) Changes in Bold
Perfect IVs with Hidden Power (Fire) is now possible
More information about this is here
Also Mew should have at least 16 Speed to outspeed Adamant base 70's as a side note
And Mega Metagross doesn't need Bullet Punch because new Mega Evolution mechanics giving it base 110 Speed
More information can be found here

Very generic core, E-ball manaphy threatens most water teams in a big way. Gyarados is very strong against slower water teams, but has to forgo scald protection in this case so that they don't just auto switch to the double fairies. Taunt over substitute adds swampert/slowbro(if gyara is fresh) to the number of mons it can abuse on this team. Tentacruel is EV-d to outspeed jolly brelom/bulu and in the context of this team, it can force out azumarill, tapu fini and greninja.

bulu runs through this team. wood hammer ohkos everything although horn leech is a lot more spammable so the team cant even rack up chip damage on it. gunk shot gren does beat it however but av magearna beats that very easily and can just click volt switch / tbolt vs everything not named swampert, which is ohkoed by energy ball.

Everything on this team dies to either Thunderbolt or Grass Knot. The only threats are Aqua jet from Azumarill, which I added Tapu Fini for, and Z-Rand dance manaphy boosting on Tapu Fini, for which I added klefki. Klefki also prevents Gunk shot from a Geninja that's in on Tapu Fini from koing something important.

This Fairy core simply runs through this and really any Water team. Tapu Bulu can clean sweep the entire team aside from Greninja whom Tapu Koko outspeeds. The core of Tapu Bulu+Tapu Koko in itself in my opinion is one of the hardest cores any water team will encounter. That being said Greninja can outspeed and ohko Tapu Bulu with Gunk Shot however Tapu Bulu can easily come in after something dies and easily pick it up

Well, fun fact, this entire team save for the Azumarill (And maybe a boosted Slowbro) is 1v1'd by defensive Cradily. Rhyperior is there simply to take the obvious attempts at wallbreaking Cradily that Azumarill is going to be trying, then getting a kill of its own (Assuming a +2 Boost, but Play Rough doesn't OHKO Cradily). Aside from that, Banded T-tar is there in case Slowbro gets too far out of control and to start wallbreaking through the entire team with stone edge as soon as Swampert drops (It also sets up Sand for Cradily to take on the Manaphy if it gets a boost).
