Dugtrio @ Life Orb
Ability: Arena Trap
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Earthquake
- Memento
- Stone Edge

I really love Dugtrio rn good revenge killer / trapper and lure to Virizion a top threat atm in ru. Dugtrio lures Virizion normally it would be scared out or rk but with aerial ace its a near ohko and ohko with rocks iirc. n_n

Slowking @ Rindo Berry
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 168 HP / 252 SpA / 88 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Nasty Plot
- Psyshock
- Scald
- Fire Blast

Usually Slowking is one of that mons that Virizion try to kill when it's at low energy, or just thinks to be safe staying at +2 when King is in the back as Leaf Blade should be an OHKO. With the Rindo Slowking can take an hit at 0 or +2 and kill back with Psyshock.

Samurott

Samurott @ Lum Berry
Ability: Torrent
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Swords Dance
- Waterfall
- Aerial Ace
- Aqua Jet

252+ Atk Samurott Aerial Ace vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Virizion: 316-372 (97.8 - 115.1%) -- 81.3% chance to OHKO (and Aqua Jet will finish the job).

The loss og Megahorn is huge, but a low accuracy coupled with low Spe means that -even if you are lucky- you can't OHKO Virizion most of the time (even with an Adamant nature + the aid of priority Aqua Jet to add more damage).

I'd like to underline that Aerial Ace is as effective as Megahorn towards Venusaur and Roselia.

Qwilfish @ Life Orb
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- Poison Jab
- Waterfall
- Aqua Jet

Standard defensive Qwilfish can't really touch Virizion, trying to fish for burns with Scald, but even then Viriz has Lum Berry. However, with this set, you can OHKO Virizion 100% of the time with Poison Jab, while with Intimidate, even if Virizion gets an SD up, it can't OHKO you with any move.

252 Atk Life Orb Qwilfish Poison Jab vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Virizion: 359-424 (111.1 - 131.2%) -- guaranteed OHKO

edit: I wonder how many people are liking this for the set or for the picture..

edit2: i mean what picture???

Houndoom @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Fire Blast
- Dark Pulse
- Destiny Bond
- Overheat

Houndoom is always expected to have a Life Orb set and therefore Virizion expects to always come in and OHKO with a Close Combat, fearing nothing but priority Sucker Punch which of course does miniscule damage. However, Choice Scarf Houndoom can lure Virizion in, outspeed, and easily OHKO with Overheat. Choice Scarf Houndoom runs Modest as it can still outspeed up to base 80 scarfers like Medicham and Braviary with this nature while also making up for lost power with the lack of life orb. Destiny Bond is also a nice move that can Pokemon like Life Orb Special Flygon or Dugtrio off guard, allowing you to secure the KO. Fire Blast is used when you want to spam Fire STAB but do not want to lose Special Attack.

252+ SpA Houndoom Overheat vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Virizion: 336-396 (104 - 122.6%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252+ SpA Houndoom Fire Blast vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Virizion: 284-336 (87.9 - 104%) -- 56.3% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock

Uh, how is that in anyway a lure?
A lure is a Pokemon having a certain item/ability/move or a combination of the three that lures out a Pokemon that would beat it otherwise. For example, from last week we had Drangonn. post a Hurricane/Extrasensory Shiftry set, designed to lure its usual checks and counters, including the mon to lure of the week, Emboar. Shiftry would lose to Scarf Emboar without either of these moves, seeing as how Emboar's decent enough bulk and typing is enough to tank Shiftry's Dark/Grass typing. Thus, Emboar would want to switch in and immediately threaten Shiftry and its trainer's team with its Flare Blitz, right? Well that's where Shiftry hits Emboar with the super effective coverage move and kills it.

A lure could also look like Chakra's set above. Maybe Houndoom just killed an opposing Pokemon with Fire Blast. "Hmm, no Life Orb recoil? Maybe he is Black Glasses or that gimmicky Power Herb Solar Beam set." A trainer would think, and then send out their Virizion to revenge kill, since it naturally outspeeds and kills with Close Combat. However, with the damage from Stealth Rock, Houndoom surprisingly outspeeds and kills the Virizion with another Fire Blast. That also be would an effective way of luring.
Tauros doesn't do either of those things, with any player who didn't know about Tauros would simply hover Tauros and see that its 110 speed is greater than Virizion's 109 and switch out. Plus it's not like Virizion would want to switch into a mon with power like Tauros with its below average physical bulk.

Plus you mention Sheer Force Zen Headbutt and then bring up Zen Headbutt having a chance to flinch lol.

AERIAL ACE TANGROWTH

(how does it get that move again?)

Tangrowth @ Assault Vest
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD
Sassy Nature
- Leaf Storm
- Knock Off
- Earthquake
- Aerial Ace

Offense takes on tang with virizion a lot of the time and wins by getting an SD on the switch. Not anymore!

0 Atk Tangrowth Aerial Ace vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Virizion: 224-268 (69.3 - 82.9%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

Solid 2HKO, preventing setup and crippling Virizion for the rest of the match.

You could use Aerial Ace on offensive sets, but that's already strapped for moveslots, and it's better off hitting hard with STAB special moves anyway. Still, it's an option to consider.

Rotom-Mow @ Choice Specs
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
- Leaf Storm
- Volt Switch
- Thunderbolt
- Hidden Power Flying

With Megalix gone and fat teams generally losing a bit of viability with their go-to mega gone, some people are probably looking for a move to use in the last slot of Rotom-C to replace trick. The reason being that trick frankly isn't as good when fat teams are less viable since there's not as many defensive mons to float a choice specs onto. Additionally, volturn has gained viability with megalix, probably the most dominant volturn stop in a tier ever bar like pdon in ubers, out of the tier, so there is more reason to use rotom. If the rest of your team still has a hard time breaking fat shit, then obviously you can run trick, but you don't need to overprepare for fatter teams like you used to with lix being dominant (although these kinds of teams are still good). Here is where hp flying comes in, being able to effectively eliminate virizion, which is one of the best switch ins to rotom-c right now (especially if running a special set, being able to smack viriz in the face and absolutely body it.

Calc: 252+ SpA Choice Specs Rotom-C Hidden Power Flying vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Virizion: 300-356 (92.8 - 110.2%) -- 56.3% chance to OHKO (just get rocks up before this happens)

Sceptile (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Overgrow
EVs: 4 Atk / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Hidden Power [Flying]
- Giga Drain / Rock Slide / Earthquake / literally anything
- Focus Blast
- Leaf Storm

Slurmz will probably get mad if I don't credit him for this so yeah. Physical Sceptile is more effective at killing Virizion but no good player is going to leave their Virizion in on a Sceptile that revealed Leaf Blade. HP Flying can't get the OHKO but it can catch Virizion on the switch-in once you've already revealed you are special.

252 SpA Life Orb Sceptile Hidden Power Flying vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Virizion: 234-281 (72.4 - 86.9%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

More flags more fun

Barbaracle @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Tough Claws
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Razor Shell
- Stone Edge
- Switcheroo
- Aerial Ace

252 Atk Tough Claws Barbaracle Aerial Ace vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Virizion: 384-452 (118.8 - 139.9%) -- guaranteed OHKO

If you are using a Barbaracle in the first place then you must really hate Tangrowth lol. I'm going to be Punchshroom here and say that shell smash isn't even it's niche anymore, nah Choice Scarf is the undoughtable undisputable barbaracle set in existence. Virizion ohkoes super reliably but then this set is like denied. Then they send out Mola, and all you do is type "lol" as they get switcherooed. Also you out speed scarf boar and Aero

Senpai D.M.

I've used this before, and basically you have another mon on the team like Rotom-C that can VS on Viriz and go into Duggy, and then trap and KO Viriz w/ Aerial Ace.

Aerial Ace Dugtrio is a standard move. I don't see any reason why it's a lure. Anyways idc either change ur vote or no, let's keep the thread clean.
