Week 3: Defensive Landorus-T

This set has been popular since the BW era due to its consistency as a Stealth Rock setter and ability to take on a plethora of threatening Pokemon in the OU metagame, namely Zygarde, Garchomp, Excadrill, Mega Charizard X, Magearna, and Magnezone. EQ for STAB, HP Ice for opposing Lando and Zygarde, and U-turn for the ability to act as a pivot. Nominations will close on the 4th, good luck!

Lando-T can normally switch in freely into Garchomp, who cannot really harm it while unboosted. Swords Dance allows Garchomp to double its Atk, allowing Garchomp to OHKO Lando-T with a +1 Devastating Drake after Stealth Rock or chip damage.

Defensive Landorus-T takes pretty much nothing from both of Scolipede's STABs, even after a Swords Dance boost, and it's immune to Earthquake, making it a solid check to Scolipede. However, with the combination of Waterium Z + Aqua Tail, Scolipede ca actually OHKO Landorus-T almost every time with a +1 (Swords Dance + Intimidate) Hydro Vortex.

Z-Dragon Dance has a nice perk towards Intimidate users, because it resets the user's stats lowered, and thus you can proceed to set-up to dish out a +1 Atk move out of nowhere.
You can even use a Z-boosted Outrage if you don't need to reset your lowered stats before boosting Dragonite with Dragon Dance.
Ice coverage is really helpful in many situations, even if you have to forget to hit Scizor or Ferrothorn without boosts. Scizor and Ferrothorn are easily answered anyway, because they are quite passive or predictable.
In the last slot I really like Earthquake over Extremespeed, which is good, but not so good due to being unstabbed and Psychic Terrain is a thing this generation.

Reserving Ice Punch Mega Mawile

Ice Punch Mawile is a really cool lure to Defensive Lando-T because Lando-T is a common pivot against Mega Mawile. Normally Lando can come in on you and force you out with an EQ, but Ice Punch is an OHKO after rocks (most of the time), even with the intimidate drop, whereas Play Rough isn't even a 2HKO. Ice Punch Mawile is something that I have used in the past and have found success with. You can run either TPunch or Fire Fang as a last move depending on what your team needs.

Lando is a fantastic switchin to your typical ttar set, but loses to this one 1v1.

4 SpA Tyranitar Ice Beam vs. 252 HP / 24 SpD Landorus-Therian: 292-344 (76.4 - 90%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
0 Atk Landorus-Therian Earthquake vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Tyranitar: 272-324 (79.7 - 95%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

Scarf lets you outspeed and win, albeit with less than 20% HP. Tho in practice ttar for lando is generally a bad trade. Grab some chip so beam KOs the first time.

Lando-T is a fairly standard switch in to M-Sciz in order to get off an intimidate, force some Helmet damage or to try and set up an SD, while -1 Scizor is doing minuscule damage back. However, thanks to boasting a great ability in technician, it can fire off an HP Ice in order to 2HKO defensive versions of Landorus.

Landorus-T is often used to pivot into itself. This set aims to nuke the defensive set with its Z crystal after an SD and perhaps increase the potential of a Scarfchomp sweep or even make a CB Zygarde's life easier. The last slot is team dependent – rocks if there are no other setters, Substitute to ease stallbreaking or Rock Polish to sweep late game.

As for the other winner, this one was a super tough choice but I think I'll lean towards Ice Punch Mega Mawile by Riddikulusness. Was seriously considering ttar too though. Week 4: Standard Ferrothorn

Ferrothorn @ Leftovers
Ability: Iron Barbs
EVs: 252 HP / 88 Def / 168 SpD
Impish Nature
- Spikes / Stealth Rock
- Leech Seed
- Power Whip
- Knock Off / Protect / Gyro Ball
Standard utility Ferro, not a lot to say here. Choice of hazards is up to you; Spikes support is super useful on basically any team at the moment, but Rocks are an option if you don't have another setter. Leech Seed somewhat makes up for Ferrothorn's lack of reliable recovery and allows you to wear down stuff quickly. Power Whip is the main STAB move and hits Ash-Greninja and Fini. The last slot is up to you; Knock Off has the utility of removing items and preventing Leftovers recovery, while Protect allows you to get back more health with Leech Seed. I personally kinda despise Gyro Ball but you can take that into account too if you want to I guess lol. EVs let you take a boosted Ice Beam from the rare Manaphy. Good luck!

Also on a different note, I'm planning on posting the reasoning for why I chose the "other winner" from now on if I have the time, just to make it a little more clearer and explain my decision to people who want to know.

Ferrothorn is so passive that you need really low prior damage.

This set forgets Waterfall (strong, but you can't use the side effect that much and Fire types have usually more Spe and coverage that KO Azumarill before you can land an attack) in order to use CB Superpower to muscle through Ferrothorn, Heatran and Chansey.
I'd like to underline that you can use Aqua Jet even twice towards Fire types, but not two Waterfall because you are so slow.
This set works because generally you run or Knock Off or Superpower, so if you show the former, you can catch your opponent off guard the following time you switch in&out.

Ferrothorn resists both Dragon and Psychic-type attacks, and it has naturally high bulk, so it seems like a great Latios check. However, Latios can ru HP Fire to lure in Ferrothorn and 2HKO it on the switch.
