Hydro Pump and Secret Sword are incredible STAB options that threaten foes both physically and specially, like Hisuian Goodra, Articuno, Corviknight, and Archaludon. Vacuum Wave is a great priority option that picks off weakened sweepers such as Meowscarada, Kyurem, and Chien-Pao. Icy Wind allows Keldeo to heroically defeat ferocious Dragon-types like Garchomp and Dragonite, while Surf is a very accurate STAB move that guarantees OHKOs against Hippowdon and Ursaluna-B. Choice Scarf Hisuian Samurott threatens Choice Scarf Gholdengo, Dragapult, Latios, and Galarian Slowking while setting up hazards. Swampert provides an Electric immunity, entry hazard support, and safe entry via Flip Turn. Greninja and Ogerpon-W make for good teammates, both checking Toxapex. In addition, Greninja deals with the Ogerpon formes, while Ogerpon-W removes Clodsire.

Choice Scarf Hisuian Samurott threatens Ghost and Psychic-types like Choice Scarf Gholdengo, Dragapult, Latios, and Galarian Slowking while setting up hazards. Gastrodon and Swampert provide entry hazard support and an immunity against Electric-types. Additionally, Swampert is able to pivot Keldeo in with Flip Turn.
