Hey all,

I would love for Orange Islands as a whole to work together to finish off any of the current In Game Tier threads which are going on in the forum. Some of these are very old! I would love to see them all worked out and updated so we can put them onto the Website proper alongside the other Tier threads which are already present.

I have trawled back through the annuls of Orange Islands threads and I think I have found every single tier thread from every time one of these has come up. Some of these are incredibly old, and I am only including them for the sake of completion. The current threads will be marked below, and I have only included the others so people can read back through and see how discussions went at different points in time. If anyone finds any other Tier threads, let me know.

If people want to contribute to these threads and get them done I would be very grateful! Older threads obviously have priority (mostly the BW2 thread) but any contributions to anything is welcome! Also this is a nice way to have everything collected into once place so they are a lot easier to find.

EDIT 8th May 2017 - Updated to add the current website listings where I could find them. RBY is completed by atsync and the latest version is on the website.

EDIT 14th May 2017 - Added the new DPPt thread to the list.

EDIT 28th February 2018 - Added the USUM Thread to the list.

EDIT 6th February 2019 - Added new BW1 Thread to the list.

Stellar has asked a few times but one has not yet appeared because I believe he has been very busy. I would also like to get one started up asap. Can you let me know either way Stellar?

Hey DHR-107, as you can tell by my signature, I have a Pokémon Go Viability Rankings post. It’s in the main Pokémon Go thread, and beyond just listing S Tier through C Tier Pokémon, it also has relevant analysis and documented explanations (such as Damage Breakpoints, Damage Bulkpoints, Population Density Analysis- Raid/Gym strategies, etc.) and I pretty much put it together myself (except for writing the articles directly).

I was wondering if I could create a new Viability Rankings Tier in-game Thread. (The Beta Thread was last updated before the gym revamp, and before the Raids existed so it no longer is Beta, thus I think it should simply be replaced).

If so, it would be great as Pokémon Go is constantly live updating, and keeping the viability up to date would be 1). Easier with others’ contributions, 2). Provide constant changes to mechanics (like the introduction of TMs, and Community Day exclusive moves) 3). Highlights different Pokémon for different uses: Slaking for Gyms, Rayquaza for Raids.

Please let me know if I need approval from others as well as yourself!

Would there be any interest in reviving the Black and White tier list? The last thread is extremely old, and as of now it uses the outdated format of Top - High - Mid - Low versus the current S - A - B - C and so on. While the current tier list is workable, I feel that there are too many joke entries (see: Purrloin), Reshiram and Zekrom aren’t even tiered, and there isn’t enough nuances within the given tiers for it to be a high-quality list.

I’d be glad to do the thread myself, although I’ll understand if people don’t want me to do it given I’ve only had an account for a couple of days. And if there’s no demand for it, that’s fine too!

Also, if there’s any type of approval I need, where can/should I get that? Thank you in advance!

Hello! I hate to be a bother, but there still seems to be interest in a revival for the Black and White tier list, yet I haven’t received any response on mod authorization for starting the project, though I have gotten the original tier list author’s approval, Colonel M. If anyone could direct me on how to go about doing that, I would greatly appreciate it!

Would it be possible to revamp the BW1 in-game tier list? User VagueKatti expressed interest in doing this in this thread, and while the current list is serviceable, would there be any problem with updating it any? The current thread's last post was in 2012.

One thing I somewhat take issue with some of the mid-tier rankings seem questionable, like Sewaddle (sure it has a ton of weaknesses and not amazing gyms, but you get X-Scissor, Leaf Blade, and even Swords Dance naturally, plus you pretty much start with great STAB which some Pokemon don't have the luxury of, namely Deerling and a few other Grass types to an extent. To be fair, the weaknesses and eh gyms balance it out, but its like the fourth fastest Bug in Unova behind Accelgor Scolipede and Durant IIRC), Patrat (it has utility but why would you actually use this over literally anything else, and Lillipup is in the same area!) Vanillite (somewhat late and takes a bit for the ball to roll out but you have great Gym matchups (you can troll Brycen with Flash Cannon in winter even), and once you get Ice Beam and evolve at 35 you're gravy and the competition isn't great-Beartic sucks -it's usable but that speed and starting moves...eh) and Cryogonal is 1% out of winter, good luck). Conkeldurr and Gurdurr in high tier I also question (you run Wake-Up-Slap for way too long until Brick Break which both Scraggy and Sawk get quickly, natural Bulk Up and Rock Slide are nice, but most of the time you won't need either save for maybe Clay (Brycen is a joke, and Drayden is pointless to set-up against since he has Dragon Tail) plus Trade evo (I don't think many actually use Eviolite Pokemon for full playthroughs).

I know I'm not a mod, but I love reading these in-game tiering lists and I think that most of what is on the current tier list is fine, but I think having some renewed discussion at the very least is helpful (most of the list would be easy to tier-Archen, Sigilyph, Scraggy, etc.) Would it possible to start another discussion at least?

The FRLG tier list is probably the one most in need of updating that isn't already being worked on. I'd fully support it -- I had an interest in doing it not long ago, but recently my free time has diminished and my interests have moved elsewhere. I do have a wealth of notes and experience with it though, so I feel I could help out someone who wants to do it big time.

I've been studying the concept of in-game metas for a while now to help with my own team composition, so I too (even though I'm not anyone important lol) have an interest of reviving and/or editing the many Tier Lists here. Well, obviously not anyone ll of them but you get the point.

I have yet to find up-to-date discussion posts regarding FRLG and HGSS (and BW up until recently), and I'm also probably one of the very few people who would be interested in one for Let's Go Pikachu and Eevee. It wouldn't be as hard as you might think, as you could just copy-paste the list from Pokémon Yellow and edit everything accordingly. That and the Starters are top tier, no doubt.

I'll even get you started. FRLG top tiers are the Nidos, Jynx, Mr. Mime, and Alakazam if you're able to trade. HGSS top tiers would probably be the usual: Totodile, Mareep, Cyndaquil, Heracross, etc.

I do have some free time on my hands in the evening and I would be happy to help revise some of the tier lists.
