UU Froslass

[OVERVIEW]

Froslass holds a notable niche as a lead on hyper offense teams thanks to its useful utility options such as Icy Wind and Destiny Bond in tandem with its blistering base 110 Speed. Froslass also possesses Taunt and the ability to spinblock, allowing it to stop entry hazard removers such as Empoleon and Tentacruel, as well as prevent the opposing team from setting up their own entry hazards, giving Froslass an edge in many situations. Unfortunately, Froslass is quite frail, meaning that numerous powerful attackers like Scizor, Zeraora, and Choice Scarf Hydreigon are able to outpace and KO it if its Focus Sash is broken. Furthermore, Froslass is quite weak outside of hitting certain targets super effectively, meaning it isn't very threatening offensively. Froslass faces competition from Klefki and Chesnaught as a user of Spikes, as their better defensive traits grant them more opportunities to set up entry hazards throughout a match, and Klefki also has priority Spikes, which ensures that it will almost always set a layer before going down. Thus, Froslass's defensive limitations relegate its use strictly to hyper offense teams. As a suicide lead, Froslass also has to compete with Azelf, which possesses higher Speed and greater offensive stats, allowing it to wear down the opposing team much more effectively.

Moves
========

Taunt stops status moves such as Defog and prevents Pokemon such as Hippowdon and Mega Aggron from setting up entry hazards. Icy Wind is used to slow down faster targets such as Zeraora and Choice Scarf Krookodile, giving Froslass an opportunity to use Destiny Bond or set up another layer of Spikes. Destiny Bond functions as a last-ditch effort by giving Froslass the ability to potentially take a Pokemon down with it; it pairs especially well with Icy Wind, as it allows Froslass to potentially remove the aforementioned faster threats from a game. Ice Beam is a stronger alternative to Icy Wind, most notably 2HKOing Hydreigon and Latias and OHKOing Gligar. Note that Icy Wind is generally preferred for letting Froslass slow down faster Pokemon and subsequently eliminate them with Destiny Bond, however. Will-O-Wisp can be used over Destiny Bond to give Froslass a tool to cripple Pokemon like Scizor and Terrakion, though this misses out on Destiny Bond's potential to remove a foe entirely.

Set Details
========

Focus Sash allows Froslass to circumvent its poor defenses by letting it survive a single attack, and it allows Froslass to set up at least one layer of Spikes. Cursed Body provides use in potentially shutting down a foe's attacking move, possibly forcing a Choice-locked foe to Struggle and giving Froslass another chance to set up Spikes.

Usage Tips
========

Lead off with Froslass whenever possible to ensure that Spikes enter the field quickly while using Taunt first against opposing entry hazard setters such as Mega Aggron and Swampert to prevent them from doing their job. However, if the opposing team has a faster Taunt user such as Azelf or Crobat, it's often a good idea to not lead Froslass as to avoid losing momentum. Once said Pokemon is off the field or eliminated, Froslass can come in and start setting up Spikes. Froslass should prioritize setting Spikes and keeping them on the field with Taunt and its natural ability to spinblock. Due to Froslass's mediocre Special Attack stat and the opportunity cost of not being able to set another layer of Spikes, Icy Wind should only be used when it's imperative that a faster threat such as Mega Aerodactyl, Zeraora, or Choice Scarf Hydreigon is able to be picked off. Froslass can then use Destiny Bond to possibly net a KO if it's about to go down; this is also an effective way for Froslass to preserve momentum for its team.

Team Options
========

Froslass sees use on hyper offense teams due to its ability to quickly set up Spikes. Froslass's ability to wear down the opposing team with Spikes is appreciated by a wide array of wallbreakers and setup sweepers such as Scizor, Infernape, and Kommo-o, as they're able to capitalize on having walls weakened or use crippled Pokemon as setup fodder. Frailer offensive threats like Zeraora, Mega Sharpedo, and Lucario can more safely come into play thanks to Froslass's ability to potentially remove an opposing Pokemon and provide a free switch with Destiny Bond. Ways of deterring entry hazard removal increase the chances of Froslass keeping its Spikes on the field; Defiant users such as Bisharp and Tornadus discourage and punish the use of Defog, whereas Ghost-types such as Gengar and Doublade possess the ability to spinblock. Fast Taunt users such as Crobat and Cobalion are additionally able to block Defog. Froslass can form an entry hazard setting core with Stealth Rock setters such as Kommo-o, Nidoking, and Nihilego. These examples are also able to take on Rock- and Fire-types that threaten Froslass such as Terrakion and Rotom-H.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

Shadow Ball inflicts super effective damage against Ghost-types and Ice-resistant Pokemon such as Doublade and Starmie, but it otherwise limits Froslass's utility options. Froslass can opt for a bulkier spread to better take on Rapid Spin users such as Tentacruel and Starmie, but this further limits Froslass's already poor power, and Froslass is still frail overall.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Faster Taunt users**: Froslass is shut down by faster Taunt users such as Crobat, Mega Houndoom, and Azelf, though the former does not appreciate Froslass potentially going for Icy Wind.

**Dark-types**: Mega Houndoom, Choice Scarf Krookodile, and Mega Sharpedo are all incredibly threatening to Froslass, as they can outspeed and KO it if its Focus Sash is not intact. While quite rare, Mega Absol possesses the coveted Magic Bounce, meaning it is able to pivot into Froslass after Mega Evolving and bounce back Spikes and Will-O-Wisp.

**Faster Attackers and Priority**: Once its Focus Sash is broken, Froslass can easily be outsped and KOed by fast Pokemon such as Mega Manectric as well as various Choice Scarf users such as Latias, Infernape, and Terrakion. Scizor and Doublade both possess super effective priority moves, though they risk a potential Will-O-Wisp if they directly switch in.

**Entry Hazard Removal**: Though Froslass can threaten most users of Defog and Rapid Spin while on the field, they can easily perform their role once Froslass is KOed or crippled. Certain users of Defog such as Moltres, Hydreigon, and Rotom-H also naturally threaten Froslass with their STAB moves.

Overview
* I'd take the Taunt mention from your first line and the spinblocking bit from your second line and combine them to create a new line on Froslass's ability to use the aforementioned tools to even further keep Spikes up reliably, since that's one of its more significant draws in the meta. In taking Taunt out of your first line I'd replace it with Destiny Bond.
* "meaning that most attackers can 2HKO it with relative ease." - mention that this also leaves it reliant on Focus Sash most of the time.
* Roserade is kind of really bad right now so I'd use Chesnaught as an example of a spiker Froslass can compete with instead.

Set/Moves
* Remove the Ice Beam slash. You can keep it in moves but generally Icy Wind provides better overall utility and still damages a lot of what Ice Beam targets fairly well.
* Talked with QC and they also agreed Destiny Bond is probably fine as the only move in your fourth slot right now. Icy Wind + Destiny Bond is just such a big draw to using Lass right now and furthers its ability to beat a lot of common hazard removal. Be sure to move both Will-O-Wisp and Ice Beam to the bottom of the Moves section in addition to making these changes.
* Say in the Destiny Bond line that it can work really well in conjunction with Icy Wind to take out faster threats like Zeraora and Starmie.
* Specify in the Ice Beam line that with the attack Froslass can reliably 2HKO Hydreigon and OHKO Gligar.

Set Details
* The first line is fluff by the newer analysis standards and can be removed.

Usage Tips
* Mega Aerodactyl really doesn't run Taunt often at all, so I'd replace that example with Crobat.
* "attacking options should only be used when necessary." - elaborate more here.
* I'd say in your line on Destiny Bond that when Froslass has been whittled down to Focus Sash is adequate criteria for when it can be used.
* Talk about using Icy Wind and Destiny Bond together to take out either an opposing hazard remover or a threat to the offensive teams Froslass is often fitted on, like Zeraora or Choice Scarf Hydreigon.

Team Options
* Remove the example of Mega Aerodactyl as a fast Taunt user, as it doesn't use the move enough.
* Give some examples of frailer offensive threats that can get into play safely thanks to Froslass being able to provide teammates opportunities to come in with Focus Sash + Destiny Bond.

Other Options
* I would put Thunder Wave at the top of this section as it's easily the most viable listed option.
* Under the Thunder Wave line include a line on Shadow Ball for being an option Froslass has that can pressure Ghost-types while hitting Pokemon resistant to Ice, but otherwise limits Froslass's utility options.
* Expand on the drawbacks of Thunderbolt by explaining that it costs valuable utility more often than not and the listed examples can all be handled fairly well with Icy Wind and Destiny Bond.

Checks and Counters
* Again, consider removing the Mega Aerodactyl mention.

Nice work, 1/3 when this is implemented.

[OVERVIEW]

  • Froslass holds a notable niche as a lead on hyper offense teams thanks to its blistering base 110 Speed alongside access to useful utility moves. (talk about its utility moves more and give examples of the options it has - azelf is 115 so starting to explain its niche through speed mentions isn't entirely accurate)
  • In particular, Froslass possesses Taunt and the ability to spinblock, allowing it to block off common forms of entry hazard removal as well as prevent the opposing team from setting up entry hazards. (give some examples of these "common forms" of hazard removal - spin is less prevalent than defog so to make the use of common correct, reference common mons in the tier that spin (tenta, starmie etc)
  • Unfortunately, Froslass is quite frail, meaning that most attackers can 2HKO it with relative ease and thus requiring it to rely on Focus Sash. (saying most attackers can 2hko then saying it needs a focus sash to stop that is factually incorrect. also, as a suicide lead, it's froslass's role to get spikes up and die so most of the time getting 2hkoed helps gain momentum for ho teams so i wouldn't reference this as a downside in overview. you can talk about how it is ohkoed by some top tier mons (scizor, scarf hydra, terrakion, cobalion etc) and link that to sash instead of the 2hko point)
  • Furthermore, Froslass is quite weak outside of hitting certain targets super effectively, meaning it isn't very threatening offensively, especially if running Icy Wind.
  • Froslass sees competition with Klefki and Chesnaught as a user of Spikes, as their better defensive traits grant them more opportunities to set up Spikes throughout a match. Klefki also has priority on Spikes, ensuring that it will almost always get off a layer of Spikes before going down.
  • As a suicide lead, Froslass also has to compete with Azelf, whose higher Speed and offensive stats allow it to wear down the opposing team much more effectively.

Moves
========

  • Spikes allows Froslass to support its team by wearing down grounded switch-ins. (you can remove this for fluff)
  • Taunt blocks off moves such as Defog and prevents opposing leads from setting up entry hazards. (give some examples of pokemon it can taunt, and you can also link this to its speed and its ability to taunt faster pokemon to explain taunt's use more)
  • Icy Wind is used to slow down faster targets, giving Froslass another opportunity to set up a layer of Spikes or presenting it with an opportunity to use Destiny Bond. (what are some targets for this that it can take advantage of at -1?)
  • Destiny Bond functions as a last-ditch effort, giving Froslass the ability to potentially take a Pokemon down with it, and it pairs especially well with Icy Wind as it allows it to potentially remove faster threats such as Zeraora and Choice Scarf Krookodile. Note that Destiny Bond will fail when used in succession, however. (last sentence is more of a usage tip and doesn't even fit there that well because it's just mechanics and dex info so remove from here at least)
  • Ice Beam is a stronger alternative, allowing Froslass to threaten Pokemon weak to it more easily than Icy Wind, most notably 2HKOing Hydreigon and Latias, and OHKOing Gligar. (touch on why icy wind is preferred)
  • Will-O-Wisp can be used over Destiny Bond to give Froslass a tool to cripple Pokemon like Scizor and Terrakion by cutting their attacking power in half, though this misses out on Destiny Bond's potential to remove a foe entirely.
Set Details
========
  • Focus Sash allows Froslass to circumvent its poor defenses by letting it survive a single attack, and allows it to set up at least one layer of Spikes.
  • Cursed Body is the only viable ability Froslass can have, though it provides use in potentially shutting down an opponents attacking move, possibly forcing a choiced Pokemon to struggle. (cut "only viable ability" part because that's fluff - the only reason cursed body stays here is for the description you follow it up with)

Usage Tips
========

  • Froslass fits primarily on hyper offense teams due to its ability to quickly set up Spikes. (make this the first sentence of team options - this is not a usage tip)
  • Lead off with Froslass whenever possible in order to ensure that Spikes enter the field quickly while also preventing the opposing team from setting up entry hazards of their own through the use of Taunt.
  • you talk about taunt briefly above but elaborate on it - when is it best for froslass to prioritise this over spikes? what pokemon can it taunt?
  • However, if the opposing team has a faster Taunt user such as Azelf or Crobat, it's often a good idea to not lead Froslass as to not lose momentum. Once said Pokemon is off the field or eliminated, Froslass can come in and start setting up Spikes.
  • Froslass should prioritize using Spikes and keeping them on the field with Taunt and its natural ability to Spinblock. Due to Froslass's mediocre Special Attack stat and the opportunity cost of not being able to set another layer of Spikes, Icy Wind should only be used when necessary. (move this up to where it says to lead with froslass to ensure spikes entry the field to make the points link more clearly)
  • Using the combination of Icy Wind and Destiny Bond can possibly net Froslass a KO if it's about to go down, allowing for the removal of faster threats such as Zeraora and Choice Scarf Hydreigon.
  • talk about sacrificing froslass after it has performed its role and how that's important to preserve momentum for its team, and elaborate on using destiny bond to do that following the above point as well.

Team Options
========

  • Froslass fits on HO line from above goes here - remvoe teh word primarily there too because HO is its only niche
  • Froslass's ability to wear down the opposing team with Spikes is appreciated by a wide array of wallbreakers and setup sweepers such as Scizor, Mega Sharpedo, Infernape, and Kommo-o, as they're able to capitalize on having bulky walls weakened or use crippled Pokemon as setup fodder.
  • Frailer offensive threats like Zeraora, Mega Beedrill, and Lucario can more safely come into play thanks to Froslass's ability to potentially remove an opposing Pokemon with Destiny Bond. (mega beedrill isn't a great example for HO because its fast u-turn forces a lot of awkward stuff in or means that a teammate has to take an attack when being brought in, and this also sacrifices the ability to use shark/aero/alt)
  • Secondary means of deterring entry hazard removal increase the chances of Froslass keeping its Spikes on the field. Defiant users such as Bisharp and Tornadus discourage the use of Defog, whereas Ghost-types such as Gengar and Doublade also possess the ability to spinblock. Fast taunt users such as Crobat and Cobalion are able to block Defog.
  • Froslass can form a core with Stealth Rock setters such as Hippowdon, Nidoking, and Nihilego. These examples are also able to take on Rock- and Fire-types that threaten Froslass such as Terrakion and Rotom-H. (hippo doesn't fit on HO teams at all because it's way to passive and invites in defoggers to remove the hazards and just sucks momentum with slack off and weak attacks in general)

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============
  • Thunder Wave can be used over Icy Wind as a way to permanently cripple Pokemon. However, this often leaves Froslass without an attacking move, and is usually less reliable than Icy Wind with its lower accuracy and inability ability to deal damage. Moreover, Thunder Wave is useless against Pokemon Froslass would ideally want to slow down such as Krookodile and Zeraora.
  • Shadow Ball inflicts super effective damage against Ghost-types and Ice-resistant Pokemon such as Doublade and Starmie, but otherwise limits Froslass's utility options.
  • Thunderbolt is a viable coverage option that allows Froslass to further threaten Rapid Spin users like Starmie and Tentacruel, while also being able to dispatch Mantine and Mega Sharpedo, though this suffers similarly to Shadow Ball by forcing Froslass to drop a useful utility move. A few of these threats are handled effectively by Icy Wind + Destiny Bond, anyway.
  • Froslass can opt for a bulkier spread to better take on the aforementioned Rapid Spin users, but this further limits Froslass's already poor power, and is still frail overall.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Faster Taunt users**: Froslass is shut down by faster Taunt users such as Crobat, Mega Houndoom, and Azelf, though the former does not appreciate Froslass going for a potential Icy Wind.

Scizor and Doublade both possess super effective priority moves, though they risk a potential Will-O-Wisp if they directly switch in.

**Entry Hazard Removal**: Though Froslass can threaten most users of Defog and Rapid Spin while on the field, they can easily perform their role once Froslass is KOed or crippled, making setting up Spikes again near impossible. Certain users of Defog such as Moltres, Hydreigon, and Rotom-H naturally threaten Froslass with their STAB moves.

Will-O-Wisp can be used over Destiny Bond to give Froslass a tool to cripple Pokemon like Scizor and Terrakion by cutting their attacking power in half (everything after Terrakion (until the bit after this comment) seems like dex filler to me ngl, tho maybe it's fine here to expand on how Wisp cripples them), though this misses out on Destiny Bond's potential to remove a foe entirely.

Cursed Body provides use in potentially shutting down an opponents a foe's attacking move, possibly forcing a choiced Choice item Pokemon to struggle Struggle and giving give (ngl I'm not sure if this part refers back to the disabling itself or the fact the foe must struggle. the change reflects the latter, and I'm fairly certain if you mean the former, then 'giving' is appropriate.) Due to Froslass's mediocre Special Attack stat and the opportunity cost of not being able to set another layer of Spikes, Icy Wind should only be used when it's imperative that a faster threat such as Mega Aerodactyl, Zeraora, and or Choice Scarf Hydreigon are is able to be picked off. Froslass can then use Destiny Bond to possibly net a KO if it's about to go down, allowing for the removal of the aforementioned faster threats; this is also an effective way for Froslass to preserve momentum for its team.

Team Options

Froslass sees use on hyper offense teams due to its ability to quickly set up Spikes. Froslass's ability to wear down the opposing team with Spikes is appreciated by a wide array of wallbreakers and setup sweepers such as Scizor, Infernape, and Kommo-o, as they're able to capitalize on having bulky walls (redundant, all walls are bulky) weakened or use crippled Pokemon as setup fodder. Frailer offensive threats like Zeraora, Mega Sharpedo, and Lucario can more safely come into play thanks to Froslass's ability to potentially remove an opposing Pokemon with Destiny Bond. Ways of deterring entry hazard removal increase the chances of Froslass keeping its Spikes on the field; Defiant users such as Bisharp and Tornadus discourage (and punish fwiw, could consider doing that if QC likes it) the use of Defog, whereas Ghost-types such as Gengar and Doublade also (this 'also' implies the Ghost-types have Defiant) possess the ability to spinblock. Fast taunt Taunt users such as Crobat and Cobalion are additionally able to block Defog. Froslass can form a an entry hazard setting (clarification) core with Stealth Rock setters such as Kommo-o, Nidoking, and Nihilego. These examples are also able to take on Rock- and Fire-types that threaten Froslass such as Terrakion and Rotom-H.

Other Options
=============

Shadow Ball inflicts super effective damage against Ghost-types and Ice-resistant Pokemon such as Doublade and Starmie, but it otherwise limits Froslass's utility options. Froslass can opt for a bulkier spread to better take on Rapid Spin users such as Tentacruel and the aforementioned Starmie, but this further limits Froslass's already poor power, and Froslass is still frail overall.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Faster Taunt users**: Froslass is shut down by faster Taunt users such as Crobat, Mega Houndoom, and Azelf, though the former does not appreciate Froslass potentially going for a potential Icy Wind.

**Dark-types**: Mega Houndoom, Choice Scarf Krookodile, and Mega Sharpedo are all incredibly threatening to Froslass, as they can outspeed and KO it if its Focus Sash is not intact. While quite rare, Mega Absol possesses the coveted Magic Bounce, meaning it is able to pivot into Froslass after mega evolving Mega Evolving and bouncing bounce back Spikes and Will-O-Wisp.

**Faster Attackers and Priority**: Once its Focus Sash is broken, Froslass can easily be outspeed outsped and knocked out KOed by Pokemon such as Mega Manectric, as well as various Choice Scarf users such as Latias, Infernape, and Terrakion. Scizor and Doublade both possess super effective priority moves, though they risk a potential Will-O-Wisp if they directly switch in.

**Entry Hazard Removal**: Though Froslass can threaten most users of Defog and Rapid Spin while on the field, they can easily perform their role once Froslass is KOed or crippled, making setting up Spikes again near impossible (well, of course it can't set Spikes again when fainted.. and frankly, I'm not surprised it struggles to set them if crippled either. I find this sentence overall pretty useless for the section in its current form ngl.). Certain users of Defog such as Moltres, Hydreigon, and Rotom-H naturally threaten Froslass with their STAB moves.

[OVERVIEW]

Froslass holds a notable niche as a lead on hyper offense teams thanks to its unique useful (other Pokemon learn these moves. If you mean to say, "unique combination of utility options ...", then adjust to reflect that.) utility options such as Icy Wind and Destiny Bond in tandem with its blistering base 110 Speed. Froslass also possesses Taunt and the ability to spinblock, allowing it to block off stop entry hazard removers such as Empoleon and Tentacruel, as well as prevent the opposing team from setting up their own entry hazards, giving Froslass an edge in many situations. Unfortunately, Froslass is quite frail, meaning that numerous powerful attackers like Scizor, Zeraora, and Choice Scarf Hydreigon are able to outpace and KO it if it's unable to go down to its Focus Sash is broken. Furthermore, Froslass is quite weak outside of hitting certain targets super effectively, meaning it isn't very threatening offensively. Froslass sees has faces (verb choice is really odd here ngl, though consider this optional for now) competition with from Klefki and Chesnaught as a user of Spikes, as their better defensive traits grant them more opportunities to set up Spikes throughout a match, while and Klefki also has priority Spikes, which ensures that it will almost always set a layer before going down. Thus, Froslass's defensive limitations relegate its use to strictly to (original is fine) hyper offense teams. Klefki also has priority on Spikes, ensuring that it will almost always get off a layer before going down. (information more relevant to moved location. Ensuring -> which ensures because you use ".., <-ing verb>" a LOT) As a suicide lead, Froslass also has to compete with Azelf, whose which possesses higher Speed and greater offensive stats allow ,(AC) allowing it to wear down the opposing team much more effectively.

Taunt blocks off stops status moves such as Defog and prevents Pokemon such as Hippowdon and Mega Aggron from setting up entry hazards. Icy Wind is used to slow down faster targets such as Zeraora and Choice Scarf Krookodile, giving Froslass an opportunity to use Destiny Bond or set up another layer of Spikes. Destiny Bond functions as a last-ditch effort, (RC) by giving Froslass the ability to potentially take a Pokemon down with it; (comma -> semicolon) and it pairs especially well with Icy Wind, (AC) as because as it allows it Froslass to potentially remove the aforementioned faster threats from a game. Ice Beam is a stronger alternative to Icy Wind, most notably 2HKOing Hydreigon and Latias, (RC) and OHKOing Gligar. Note that Icy Wind is generally preferred for its ability to slow down faster Pokemon and subsequently eliminate them with Destiny Bond, however. Will-O-Wisp can be used over Destiny Bond to give Froslass a tool to cripple Pokemon like Scizor and Terrakion by cutting their attacking power in half (everything after Terrakion (until the bit after this comment) seems like dex filler to me ngl, tho maybe it's fine here to expand on how Wisp cripples them) (I agree, so I made the change official), though this misses out on Destiny Bond's potential to remove a foe entirely.

Set Details

Focus Sash allows Froslass to circumvent its poor defenses by letting it survive a single attack, and it allows it Froslass to set up at least one layer of Spikes. Cursed Body provides use in potentially shutting down an opponents a foe's attacking move, possibly forcing a choiced Choice-locked foe item Pokemon to struggle Struggle and giving give (ngl I'm not sure if this part refers back to the disabling itself or the fact the foe must struggle. the change reflects the latter, and I'm fairly certain if you mean the former, then 'giving' is appropriate.) Froslass another chance to set up Spikes.

Usage Tips
========

Lead off with Froslass whenever possible to ensure that Spikes enter the field quickly while using Taunt first against opposing entry hazard setters such as Mega Aggron and Swampert to prevent them from doing their job. However, if the opposing team has a faster Taunt user such as Azelf or Crobat, it's often a good idea to not lead Froslass as to not lose avoid losing momentum. Once said Pokemon is off the field or eliminated, Froslass can come in and start setting up Spikes. Froslass should prioritize using setting Spikes and keeping them on the field with Taunt and its natural ability to Spinblock spinblock.
