Expecting the Unexpected (A UU Warstory)

Hello everyone! I’m Flashrider57! I’ve joined only two months ago, but since then I’ve gained a lot of experience with battling, as well as having some great battles. Anyway, this is also my first warstory, which describes a recent ladder battle that I had with recycled human. I’m sure that this battle will be very exciting to you all, as there are a lot of surprises in it, as well as a good amount of suspense. Let’s begin:

I was testing out an experimental team, and I decided to try it in a ladder battles. My first ladder battle with it ended in a 2-0 loss for me, but I was determined to try it some more. Next up was recycled human. Little did I know that this would turn out to be one of the best battles I’ve had! (Also, I explain some things that you may notice in the battle in my second post on this thread)

My team:
Venomoth
Quagsire
Hitmontop
Registeel
Clefable
Mesprit

Log about my team will be in red
Log about recycled human’s team will be in green
My comments during the battle will be in orange
recycled human’s comments during the battle will be in blue
My comments about the battle will be in black
Damage amounts will be at the end of each turn in bold
Scores will be in italics after someone faints
All other stuff during the battle (aka weather) will be in regular black

Rules: Ladder Match, Sleep Clause, Freeze Clause, OHKO Clause, Evasion Clause, Species Clause, Strict Damage Clause

Pike82 sent out Poisonous Moth (lvl 100 Venomoth ?).
recycled human sent out Blaziken (lvl 100 Blaziken ?).
I begin the battle by sending out my lead: a Venomoth. Mine is actually a modified Toxic Spikes set geared towards scouting, with a 4HP/252 Def/252Spe spread, and Protect & U-Turn over Bug Buzz and Psychic. It works well against a good amount of leads, and also serves as my primary Fighting resist.
Unfortunately, Blaziken is not one of the leads that Venomoth goes well against. My best choice is to use Protect to see what kind it is.

Poisonous Moth used Protect.
Poisonous Moth protected itself!
Blaziken used Flare Blitz.
Poisonous Moth protected itself!
Venomoth:100%
Blaziken:100%
Yet another situation where Protect comes in handy, and it helps me learn about his odd lead. If it uses any of the analysis sets, it’s going to be the Physical Choice one. Even though Venomoth is usually faster than Blaziken, Blaziken might be Scarfed instead of Banded. I really don’t to possibly learn the hard way, so I decide to switch to my Quagsire, and don’t U-Turn just in case it’s Scarfed.
---
Pike82 switched in Purple Mudfish (lvl 100 Quagsire ?).
Blaziken used Flare Blitz.
It's not very effective...
Purple Mudfish lost 32% of its health.
Blaziken was hit by recoil!
Blaziken lost 14% of its health.
Purple Mudfish's leftovers restored its health a little!
Purple Mudfish restored 6% of its health.
Quagsire:74%
Blaziken: 86%
That took out a good chunk of HP, but Quagsire has seen worse. Blaziken IS Banded, and it’s definitely going to switch out, but I’m still using Earthquake to see what he sends out.
---
recycled human switched in Venusaur (lvl 100 Venusaur ?).
Purple Mudfish used Earthquake.
Venusaur lost 37% of its health.
Venusaur's leftovers restored its health a little!
Venusaur restored 6% of its health.
Purple Mudfish's leftovers restored its health a little!
Purple Mudfish restored 6% of its health.
Quagsire:80%
Venusaur: 69%
Venusaur. Yay. I don’t really want to keep it in against an incoming Leaf Storm/Energy Ball/Power Whip, so in comes Venomoth.

Pike82 switched in Poisonous Moth (lvl 100 Venomoth ?).
Venusaur used Sunny Day.

Venomoth: 100%
Venusaur: 75%
Pike82: O.o
“O.o” is right. I know for sure that Sunny Day on Venusaur isn’t that common. Still, this isn’t good. I am not too good against Sunny Day teams, so this could be interesting. I use Sleep Powder in the hopes of crippling something.
---
recycled human switched in Blaziken (lvl 100 Blaziken ?).
Poisonous Moth used Sleep Powder.
Blaziken fell asleep!
The sun continues to shine.
Venomoth:100%
Blaziken(sleep): 86%
I was expecting something like Exeggutor, but Blaziken works too. Time to use Toxic Spikes to lure out Venusaur and kill it.
---
recycled human: I don't actually know what I'm doing yet...
Poisonous Moth used Toxic Spikes.
Toxic Spikes were scattered around the foe's team!
Blaziken is fast asleep!
The sun continues to shine.
Venomoth: 100%
Blaziken(sleep): 86%
I’m not too sure what recycled human means by his comment, but it looks like this team might be a little different than expected. Anyway, he’s definitely sending in Venusaur, so let’s send out Hitmontop! (I realize later that sending in Mesprit would have been the better choice)
---
Pike82: Sunny Day on Venusaur caught me off guard
Pike82 switched in Capoeira (lvl 100 Hitmontop ?).
Blaziken is fast asleep!
The sun continues to shine.
Hitmontop: 100%
Blaziken:86%
And he doesn’t switch out. Interesting. Still, my Hitmontop is going to have fun. It’s a modified Technitop set that also is a Spinner set, with the moves Rapid Spin, Mach Punch, Sucker Punch, and Aerial Ace. It’s done very well in my past battles, and it looks like it will be the same here.
---
Blaziken woke up!
Blaziken used Brave Bird.
It's super effective!
Capoeira lost 100% of its health.
Pike82's Capoeira fainted.
Blaziken was hit by recoil!
Blaziken lost 26% of its health.
The sun faded.
Hitmontop: 0%
Blaziken: 60%
However, it seems that I’m on Lady Luck’s bad side. I now correct that mistake by sending in Mesprit, which I should have done before.

---
Pike82: Dang it...I was going to use Aerial Ace on you too...
Pike82 switched in Konan (lvl 100 Mesprit).
recycled human: great minds think alike? and a little luck never hurt neither
recycled human switched in Houndoom (lvl 100 Houndoom ?).
Houndoom was poisoned!
Houndoom was poisoned by the Toxic Spikes!
Konan used Psychic.
It doesn't affect Houndoom...
Houndoom is hurt by poison!
Houndoom lost 12% of its health.
Mesprit: 100%
Houndoom(poison): 88%
Dang it. He predicts well and switches in Houndoom. Unfortunately for me, NP Houndooms wreck my team. However, he forgot about Toxic Spikes, which shortens Houndoom’s lifespan. My best option is to send in Quagsire.
Also, as a side note, I decide that recycled human is one of the better players I face, as people who make comments like his are rarely rage-quitters.
---
Pike82 switched in Purple Mudfish (lvl 100 Quagsire ?).
Houndoom used Crunch.
Purple Mudfish lost 23% of its health.
Purple Mudfish's defence was lowered.
Houndoom is hurt by poison!
Houndoom lost 12% of its health.
Purple Mudfish's leftovers restored its health a little!
Purple Mudfish restored 6% of its health.
Quagsire: 63%
Houndoom(poison): 75%
This catches me off guard, as Houndooms that use Crunch almost always have Life Orb attached. I keep Quagsire in as I wonder about the item.
---
Houndoom used Endure.
Houndoom braced itself!
Purple Mudfish used Earthquake.
It's super effective!
Houndoom lost 75% of its health.
Houndoom endured the hit!
Houndoom's Salac Berry raised its speed!

Purple Mudfish restored 6% of its health.
Quagsire:69%

5-5
recycled human: oh yeah, poison duh
Well, that answered my question. He uses Endure on my Earthquake to activate the Salac Berry that he was holding. Unfortunately, he also forgets about the poison, as it finishes off the barely-surviving dog. I sigh in relief, as that could have been gg for me there.
---
recycled human switched in Venusaur (lvl 100 Venusaur ?).
Venusaur absorbed the Toxic Spikes!
Venusaur used Sunny Day.
The sun began to shine!
Purple Mudfish used Ice Punch.

Venusaur restored 6% of its health.
Purple Mudfish's leftovers restored its health a little!
Purple Mudfish restored 6% of its health.
Quagsire:75%
Venusaur: 40%
I predict correctly that Venusaur would set up Sunny Day, so I keep Quagsire in and use Ice Punch, taking out a good chunk of HP. I would keep Quagsire in to finish off Venusaur, but a Solarbeam is coming my way.
---
Pike82: If Houndoom wasn't poisoned, I would be dead
Pike82 switched in Poisonous Moth (lvl 100 Venomoth ?).
Venusaur used Solarbeam.

I predict correctly. He will probably switch to Blaziken now, so time for Sleep Powder.
---
Pike82: It's the one thing that completely decimates my team if it sets up
Poisonous Moth used Sleep Powder.
Venusaur fell asleep!
Venusaur is fast asleep!

Poisonous Moth restored 6% of its health.
Venusaur's leftovers restored its health a little!
Venusaur restored 6% of its health.
Venomoth:92%
Venusaur(sleep): 52%
I guessed wrong this time. Still, I can set up Toxic Spikes now, and Venusaur can only absorb Toxic Spikes by switching in to them, which means that something is going to get poisoned.
---
recycled human: XD good thing you got it out of the way then
recycled human switched in Blaziken (lvl 100 Blaziken ?).

Venomoth scores a crit on U-Turn, which doesn’t help much. Still, Sleep Powder hit all three times I used it, and U-Turn got a crit, which suggests that my Venomoth is favored by Lady Luck. That’s a good sign.
Anyway, Venusaur is coming back in, so I decide to use Ice Punch on the switch.
---
recycled human switched in Venusaur (lvl 100 Venusaur ?).
Venusaur absorbed the Toxic Spikes!

And I misclick. I predict perfectly, but I screw up on the move selection. Still, Quagsire will survive better in the future. Luckily, I might be able to fix the misclick, so I make sure to use Ice Punch.

Remember when I was talking about Lady Luck liking my Venomoth? She hates the rest of my team. Even though Venusaur is within killing range, Quagsire is Solarbeam bait. Let’s go Venomoth!
---
recycled human: yeah? I love venomoth too...never thought of using it the way you are tho!
Pike82 switched in Poisonous Moth (lvl 100 Venomoth ?).
Venusaur used Solarbeam.

Venusaur restored 6% of its health.
Registeel:100%
Venusaur:86%
Lady Luck seems to hate the rest of my team for sure. Great. Anyway, Venusaur stays in, so I decide to switch in my Registeel. Unfortunately, Venusaur takes the time to use Synthesis. Now it’s going to be harder to kill.
---
Venusaur used Solarbeam.
It's not very effective...
Iron Man lost 15% of its health.
Iron Man used Earthquake.

Registeel:91%
Venusaur:68%
Venusaur stays in and uses an ineffective Solarbeam, while Registeel hurts it more with Earthquake. Thankfully, the sun’s disappeared, and he might switch in Blaziken, so I go to Mesprit when he either switches or sets up Sunny Day.
---
Pike82 switched in Konan (lvl 100 Mesprit).

Now, recycled human makes a major mistake of keeping Venusaur in, when he should have switched out for something different. However, Psychic fails to kill it. Mesprit is actually Scarfed instead of holding Specs, and this is one of the times when I regret it. Still, it’s about to die.

Pike82: Crap...
Unfortunately, he sees it coming, and uses Destiny Bond. I’m in serious trouble now, as my offensive Pokemon and my best tank are down. That means that I have to rely on Quagsire as my main sweeping Pokemon. I haven’t revealed my Clefable yet, though. For recycled human, he has Blaziken and Venusaur, as well as two unrevealed Pokemon. I decide to switch in Venomoth to scout out his choice of Pokemon

YES! I happen to be wrong, as this turns out to be not a regular Weezing, but a Curse/Gyro Ball version. The Curse version absolutely hates Clefables with Trick and Flame Orbs, which describes my Clefable pretty well. (It’s actually more of a cleric-Trickster hybrid, because it also has Wish and Heal Bell)

Of course, Macho Brace. Still, Weezing is useless now, so it will now be disgraced by being beaten to death by a Clefable. For anyone who is new to UU, being beaten by a Clefable is very sad. Unless it’s a Wall Breaker version or Toxic Orb Abuser set, in which case it isn’t sad, because those things are beast.

Wait…I realize that he has Venusaur, Weezing, and Blaziken on the same team; therefore, a big Psychic weakness. I now wish that Mesprit was still alive.

Okay, odd move. Still, Blaziken is up, but it’s going down now. I wonder what its last move is, though…gg, recycled human

Pike82: gg
recycled human switched in Blaziken (lvl 100 Blaziken ?).
recycled human: yeah you too!
Pike82: I really think this would make a great warstory! You were actually great!

Pike82 wins!
recycled human: XD well thanks...if you'da seen me earlier you wouldn't think so. But your team is really well thought out. I love the venomoth
That answered my question. He reveals his final move to be Earthquake. Even though he could have killed Quagsire with Superpower, he explained later that he wanted to show the fourth move, because he knew I was wondering, and Venomoth would have killed him anyway.
And now…(drum roll please) Props and Slops!
Slops:
· Hitmontop. Even though you kick butt a lot of the time, it was the other way around this time.
· recycled human’s Weezing. You basically did nothing, other than annoy me and get killed by a cleric.
· My bad instincts. Very, very off this time.
· recycled human’s Houndoom. You had potential, but it was just wasted.
Props:
· recycled human, for allowing me to make this warstory, giving me a great battle, and being a great guy in general
· Venomoth, for taking abuse like a beast (even though you’re a moth), as well as scoring an assist on Houndoom with Toxic Spikes
· Quagsire, for taking down three Pokemon, as well as being a major beast and the MVP of this battle
· recycled human’s Blaziken, for threatening me so much throughout the battle. Even though you caused headaches, you were also a beast (I will stop using beast after this)
· Clefable, for taking down two enemies even though you are a cleric/Trickster
· recycled human’s Mismagius, for taking down two of my best Pokemon in a very short time.
· Finally, everyone reading this. Thanks for reading, and I hope you were entertained

And finally, recycled human’s team:
Blaziken
Venusaur
Houndoom
Mismagius
Weezing
Lanturn

No sprites..at least you made it colorful, AND you put percentages. I didn't point out too many bad moves aside that Recover misclick...

Wait..shouldn't this belong in the uu subforum?

little bit too bright for me, i would tone down the colors some.

wasn't bad for a first warstory, but there were serious misplays, especially his whole play with houndoom (the endure stuff really was offputting, had he switched to venusaur, he would have absorbed toxic spikes straight away and save houndoom as a psychic resist later)

I changed my commentary to black to make the whole battle more readable. Also, a couple notes. One, it kept messing up when I tried to add sprites and pictures, so I decided to leave them off. Second, everyone makes mistakes in battles, and my major mistake was the Recover misclick. Lastly, switching in Houndoom was actually a good move on his part. It's suicidal to keep Blaziken in on an incoming Psychic, and he didn't want to switch in Weezing or Venusaur to absorb the Toxic Spikes. Lanturn would have been bombarded badly, and switching in Mismagius would have reduced the ghost's lifespan. Therefore, the best move was to Houndoom. His mistake, though, was forgetting about Toxic Spikes when using Endure. Otherwise, I would have been in major trouble. Still, thanks for your comments! I have to admit that I had to finish this in a hurry, but it would have been better if I had held this back and worked on the comments some more. I'll try to remember that the next time I make a warstory!

nice job for a first warstory. i agree with the others that sprites would be nice but other than that nicely done! i liked the use of venomoth. you dont see that too often.

Curse/Gyro Ball Weezing.

Lead CB Brave Bird Blaziken.

Sunnybeam Seed Synthesis 'Saur.

EndureSalac Reversal 'Doom.

However, it wasn't too bad. I liked it.

Props for using Venomoth!

I didn't know that! By the way, I'm not German. I named Hitmontop after a war-dance fighting style, and Clefable...well, she looks like a pixie. Thanks for some foreign Pokemon names!

Also, thanks for the rates, everybody! I'll try to keep your comments in mind when I create another warstory!
