Eevee-Double Edge&Adaptability Legality?

hi im new to the forums, and theres something thats been troubling me with eevee, this is the LC so i thought this would be the most suited place to post it.

Eevee can learn Double Edge via move tutor in Emerald/FR/LG/XD
but during that generation the ability Adaptability did not exist.(Only Run Away)

now i've seen people talk about adaptability eevee's WITH double edge.
i searched under egg moves and found nothing about the move being included nor in Generation IV's move tutors.

So my real question is, is the combination of the ability Adaptability and having the move Double-Edge legal?
If so, how?

Eevee is not legal with Adaptability and Double-Edge, as can be seen in this post. If you see someone an illegal combination combination you should show them that it is illegal and if they refuse to forfeit report them to a mod and link to the proof in Wild Eep's thread.
