Community Create-a-Team 2: M-Lopunny + Lando-T

I'm voting for ThickFatAzumarill's Cresselia here, while it leaves some holes for M-Tyranitar, M-Gengar, Greninja and Hydreigon etc. that probably should be addressed, it rounds out the defensive core and covers some of the biggest threats at this point. Since HP Ice and Tpunch both are >10% on blaziken i hesitate to add Landorus tbh, although double intimidate is tempting.

So we're having a sudden death lightning round! Your only options are Cresselia or Mimikyu. GO!

Interesting to see the way the PS voting worked as well:

Altaria was likely so high because it was the first option, but I like to think someone people actually liked my idea lol

I'm going with my original vote of ThickFatAzumarill's Cresselia

So Helmet Cres is the latest edition to our team! Our team now has plenty of bulk with an offensive option in Mega Gyarados, but apart from that it does seem quite passive, so I expect to see some offensive options nominated this week, maybe even a few secondary mega options. Going through meta threats it seems we have an answer for (almost) everything, apart from maybe well played Mimikyu, Greninja, Thundurus-T, and Ferrothorn. As far as archetypes go I think playing against Stall looks kinda annoying too. What does everyone else think?

I'll do my nom later

The easiest way to start patching up the stall matchup would be to to put Magma Storm on Heatran over Lava Plume. Taunt Gyara can work but it would need partners to create situations for it to start going. As it stands though, Cress and Bulu are near dead weight against stall. At least one more mon which can play decently against stall is practically required.

I would to nominate conkeldur. it has fighting for ferro and greninja. and ice punch for thundurus-therian. it is a solid tank in today's meta.
Conkeldurr @ Assault Vest

Taking into account what Cant Say said this team struggles with, I would like to nominate Swords Dance Mega Mawile.

Mawile-Mega @ Mawilite
Ability: Huge Power
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 Def
Adamant Nature
- Swords Dance
- Play Rough
- Sucker Punch
- Fire Fang / Knock Off / Iron Head

Mega Mawile is already incredibly powerful, while also having some nice wallbreaking abilities due to Swords Dance. Play Rough is an excellent STAB move that bops everything that doesn't resist it. Sucker Punch is nice for picking off weakened opponents or severely denting the opposing Pokemon for a teammate to rk. Fire Fang is nice as a coverage move for dealing with those pesky Steel-types that resist Play Rough. If one wants to, Fire Fang can be replaced with either Iron Head for a more reliable STAB move or Knock Off to deal with Pokemon that depend on their items because we have Heatran on this team.

252 SpA Thundurus-T Thunderbolt vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Mega Mawile: 87-103 (55.4 - 65.6%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

In relation to the rest of the team, Mega Mawile benefits from Tapu Bulu's Grassy Terrain, letting Mega Mawile survive powerful Ground-type moves like Choice Banded Landorus-Therian's Earthquake. It also appreciates Cresselia as a teammate, who can set up Trick Room for this monster. Finally, it enjoys having (Mega) Gyarados as a partner to deal with plenty of Fire- and Ground-types that threaten Mega Mawile.

Breloom is generally a good lead, and can take serious advantage of Grassy Terrain, and can dish out serious damage.
Do I really need to explain what to do with it? Unprepared teams will lose to this, period.

Alright, time to nominate something of my own for this year's CCAT !_!

(Credits to Litra for TFP)

Charizard @ Charizardite X
Ability: Tough Claws
Level: 50
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Outrage
- Flare Blitz
- Swords Dance
- Flame Charge
Standard dual setup ZardX, standard EVs, fits really well as a second mega to handle Stall and a bunch of other threats if Gyarados seems like the inferior option to bring. With a good typing only leaving it vulnerable to Dragon, Ground and Rock type attacks, as well as great stats on both the offensive and defensive end, it provides a fearsome presence, and thanks to Grassy Terrain, Charizard can actually tank some strong earthquakes, to the point where it needs something of a caliber like banded Adamant Landorus-T to even have a chance to KO with one hit as long as the terrain is up (and even that is only 50%). In return, just one turn of setup gives this monster the power to plow through Stall teams, and those very few Pokemon that actually can tank one hit are left with such huge dents that one of the teammates can take advantage of them with ease. The biggest drawbacks are probably the side effects of the main STAB moves, either locking you into a move that fairies are immune against, or having to deal with recoil. The power of those attacks justifies the risks though, and reward you greatly if you can exploit the sheer power to your advantage.
If there aren't too many bulky threats on the opposing team left, one Flame Charge lets Charizard X outspeed the entire unboosted metagame as well as some common scarfers like modest Hydreigon, Tapu Lele and Adamant Landorus-T, allowing it to attempt a sweep.

All those bulky monsters crumble in front of ZardX if they give you just one chance to SD:

+2 252+ Atk Tough Claws Mega Charizard X Outrage vs. 244 HP / 252+ Def Eviolite Porygon2: 151-178 (79 - 93.1%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
+2 252+ Atk Tough Claws Mega Charizard X Outrage vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Cresselia: 186-220 (81.9 - 96.9%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

None of these OHKO besides Hydro Vortex Tapu Fini, so if you already set up one SD before, you can go to +4 or 2HKO back while being faster.

Defensive Calcs:

252 SpA Life Orb Greninja Hydro Pump vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Mega Charizard X: 121-142 (79 - 92.8%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

did someone say STALLBREAKER???

Latios (M) @ Icium Z
Ability: Levitate
Level: 50
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Ice Beam
- Draco Meteor
- Psychic
- Thunderbolt

This team is a bit slow, and Thundurus-T can run circles around it. Hence this set.

252 SpA Latios Subzero Slammer (175 BP) vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Thundurus-Therian: 238-280 (154.5 - 181.8%) -- guaranteed OHKO

This Latios hits fast and hard (182 SpA, 178 Spe), and it never hurts to have an icy nuke up your sleeve. Boltbeam is also a nice thing to have on top of that.

A few more calculations:
252 SpA Latios Psychic vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Venusaur-Mega: 134-158 (71.6 - 84.4%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
252 SpA Latios Ice Beam vs. 4 HP / 0 SpD Salamence-Mega: 224-268 (130.9 - 156.7%) -- guaranteed OHKO (Draco Meteor OHKOs too, but this is better)

252 SpA Latios Subzero Slammer (175 BP) vs. 212 HP / 220 SpD Assault Vest Landorus-Therian: 248-296 (129.8 - 154.9%) -- guaranteed OHKO

I agree with Jhon. Bulu could benefit more from a SD set as well.

Now for my nomination:

Blaziken @ Electrium Z
Ability: Speed Boost
Level: 50
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Flare Blitz
- Thunder Punch
- Swords Dance
- Protect

This Blaziken set has a great matchup against stall teams. +2 Gigavolt Havoc OHKOes both Fini and Toxapex, making way for itself or Gyarados to sweep the opposing team. As a standalone mon, it appreciates Cresselia to deal with Salamence, Landorus and other Blaziken, along with Lunar Dance support. It also appreciates Heatran's ability to wear down walls like Zapdos.

+2 252 Atk Blaziken Gigavolt Havoc (140 BP) vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Toxapex: 162-192 (103.1 - 122.2%) -- guaranteed OHKO

+2 252 Atk Blaziken Thunder Punch vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Toxapex: 88-104 (56 - 66.2%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Black Sludge recovery
+2 252 Atk Blaziken Thunder Punch vs. 244 HP / 252+ Def Tapu Fini: 108-128 (61.3 - 72.7%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

c/ping my nom from last round bc tapu koko is still my suggestion ^^

Tapu Koko @ Life Orb
Ability: Electric Surge
Level: 50
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Thunderbolt
- Dazzling Gleam
- Hidden Power [Fire]
- U-turn

While this is a bulky team, I feel like a fast pivot would be beneficial to help manage certain offensive mons, like the aforementioned Greninja, and to generally give the team some speed as and when it might be needed. This Tapu Koko set will be able to deal with some of the Dragons and Flying-types that give this team trouble so far, including Mega Salamence, Mega Charizard Y, Garchomp, and Celesteela. Hidden Power [Fire] is useful for weakening Ferrothorn in Heatran-unfriendly matchups. The item choice is fairly open here, with Z-moves for both STABs being viable as well as Choice items, but Life Orb is the most splashable for now so that should be fine. Nomming Tapu Koko would be beneficial for any Ground-types that we nominate in the future (and I strongly believe we should) in that it helps Bulu beat down Rain teams and cope with Flying-types, so I feel like it's a strong nomination that we should definitely consider :)

This nom is all the better now that Blaziken (and also boosted Salamence) is well-covered with Cresselia. This beats Gren and 2HKOs Thundurus-T and Ferrothorn, as well as having a chance to OHKO Mimikyu with Thunderbolt after Disguise. It also gives the team at least one fast option, which I feel could only be beneficial when it comes to pivoting around and setting up wincons.
