Current Team:

Original thread idea by Age of Kings http://www.smogon.com/forums/thread...iples-team-complete-in-testing-stage.3513777/

*Approved by cant say & Hulavuta*

The purpose of this thread is for us to create a team as a community with suggesting, discussing, nominating and voting to take place. The result will be a team that we can use to efficiently ladder both on PS! and ultimately on-cart to take on the Japanese! Hopefully we can all learn and benefit from the experience of team-building but the end result is about battling online and trying to get the win. But even if we lose often this can be a positive experience and we can come out better for it.

Guidelines:
Please make only one selection per round unless stated.
Don’t push for “bad” stuff to be included. The viability rankings shall be a guide for this. Remember that this isn’t just a guide for stuff that we can use, this is a list of things that we need to keep an eye out for.
Explain yourself clearly and supply calcs, replays or evidence where possible but keep on topic.
Don’t get offended if things don’t go your way.
Respect the deadlines put in place.
All other sections rules apply. cant say & Hulavuta are free to intervene where they feel necessary.

This is the thread which got me into Battle Spot. As a result I would like to help in the physical creation of this team where possible to facilitate online laddering. Therefore I will be looking to help breed, locate and distribute the Pokemon where possible.

A special rule regarding distribution for when we get to that point: Respect the distribution rights which we will make clear at the time.
My Pokemon are usually non-redis and any that I breed or reset for in this case will maintain that rule strictly unless donated for this project.
To be eligible for this part you should be a regular contributor to this section or at least known on PS.
Approach me on my profile when I open that particular section.

Should this thread be a success then hopefully we can move back to Triples, Rotations or may even the Special format for a particular season. But let’s do baby-steps. Singles is the bread and butter for most of us and is the logical first attempt for this project. We have the analyses and boatloads of experience between us as well as the entire internet at our fingertips.

This should be the easiest selection of all to make. We need to choose something to build around, the heart and soul of the squad. This can be one Pokemon or a two/three Pokemon core. There will be nothing off-limits for this. To encourage initial activity I will allow two submissions per poster but please submit these individually.

Example:
This is not my suggestion although I figure someone will suggest it as it would be a fine pick.

I think we should build around dedicated lead Breloom, specifically the lead set from the analysis.

http://www.smogon.com/dex/xy/pokemon/breloom/battle_spot_singles/

Breloom @ Focus Sash
Ability: Technician
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Adamant/Jolly Nature
- Spore
- Mach Punch
- Bullet Seed
- Rock Tomb

This innocuous bulb can put anything except Grass types to sleep. It hits surprisingly hard thanks to Technician and could be used as part of a FWG core.

Suggestion#1

Lum Berry Mamoswine

Mamoswine @ Lum Berry
Ability: Thick Fat
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Ice Shard
- Icicle Crash
- Earthquake
- Knock Off

Mamo is great all around but I've used this on cart before as a lead and it's a lot of fun, potentially it's the best set that I've used for Mamo. I based it around the Sash set on the analysis by fitting priority, strong STAB and a crucial utility move onto the set.

It just breaks things that come to cripple it, including WoW Gengar, Serperior, Thundurus & Breloom. Knock Off is almost always the first move to cripple a switch in or just to demolish the momentum of the chosen lead. Status users hate seeing their first play used against them like this. Although it's a get out of jail once card, Mamo really does have the power to break something, especially if it's quicker.

I like this thread; I'm in:

Salamence @ Choice Specs
Ability: Intimidate
Level: 50
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Draco Meteor
- Fire Blast
- Hydro Pump
- Tailwind / Dragon Pulse / Flamethrower

Blaziken-Mega (F) @ Blazikenite
Ability: Speed Boost
Level: 50
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Swords Dance
- High Jump Kick
- Flare Blitz
- Protect
The idea behind this core is to fool the opponent into thinking Salamence is running a standard Mega DD set and is paired with mixed regular Blaziken. Even though Choice Specs Salamence is usually outclassed by both Latios and Hydreigon, it has a couple of traits that make it worth running, even if it's just on a couple of specific teams. Its ability to check opposing Blaziken (courtesy of its typing + Intimidate) and lure some of the most common Blaziken, checks such as Bulky Thundurus, physically defensive Rotom-Wash, Hippowdon, Slowbro, Cresselia, among others, make it phenomenal in a best of 1 format.

reserving Mega Beedrill Apparently we can't use bad mons :( so instead I'll nom Heracross.

Heracross @ Heracronite
Level: 50
Ability: Guts
Adamant Nature
EVs: 156 HP / 252 Atk / 4 Def / 4 SpDef / 92 Spe
- Pin Missile
- Close Combat
- Rock Blast
- Bullet Seed

This thread is dope

Mega Metagross + Hydreigon

Megas are a good way to start off teambuilding and Mega Metagross is one of my favorites due to its excellent stats and good pre- and post-mega abilities. If you're aware of the Aegislash + Hydreigon core, then this shouldn't need much explaining as it's a similar concept. Hydreigon resists every one of Metagross's weaknesses and Metagross resists most of Hydreigon's. The only types that it doesn't are Bug and Fighting, the former of which are taken out by Hydreigon's Flamethrower and the latter is dealt with by Mega Metagross's massive Defense stat and Psychic-type STAB. Having a core capable of dealing with both physically and specially defensive foes is useful as well.

Metagross-Mega @ Metagrossite
Ability: Clear Body
Level: 50
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Zen Headbutt
- Bullet Punch
- Ice Punch
- Earthquake

Hydreigon @ Choice Specs
Ability: Levitate
Level: 50
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Draco Meteor
- Dark Pulse
- Flamethrower
- Focus Blast

@ Choice Specs

Level: 50
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Trick
- Draco Meteor
- Psyshock
- Thunderbolt

One of my favourite sets atm. Checks +6 Azu with Specs Thunderbolt by tanking Aqua Jet, steals Eviolite from Chansey and p2 and beats Conk and Venusaur with Specs Psyshock. Has the typing to check Blaziken, outspeeds Garchomp and pre-mega Salamence and cripples Suicune with Tbolt or Trick. Also Draco Meteor is horrifying to try and stomach with anything that isn't Chansey. Can't take Sucker Punches so bring something to deal with Mawile and Kang. Also weak to Aegi, speed ties with Gengar and loses to most Dark-types so build with those in mind.

second set:

@ Weakness Policy
Ability: Stance Change
Level: 50
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpA
Relaxed Nature
- King's Shield
- Shadow Ball
- Shadow Sneak
- Sacred Sword

Physically defensive Aegis. This can take some pretty dumb stuff and retaliate hard: even without any offensive investment, this Aegislash is capable of taking any attack from Mega Kangaskhan and OHKOing in return with +2 Sacred Sword (I believe it's a roll but only on 252 HP Kang).

I would have loved to see Mega Bee because it would be so tough to build around. But hey, it's kind of why I wanted to have two noms. I'm going to have to think of something else as Carbonific took my HydreiGross nom.

Not really sure on sets, but these two seem really good together. Slowbro takes fire and fighting very well, and Ferro eats grass and electric very well. Both mons are also quite strong against Kang, Chomp, Megamence, and to some extent Suicune, which are all really common.

A good thing to decide on would be mega Slowbro or not. I can never really decide. AV Slowbro is really cool, and beats Aegi, Ferrothorn(Flamethrower/Fire Blast,) Gengar, etc quite well. It doesn't take your mega slot, and can handle a hit from Thund to do quite a bit with Ice Beam.

Mega Bro tho is very good at setting up CMs or spreading status. Ridiculous bulk prevents things like Max Atk Kang from 2hkoing and max Atk Mawi from OHKOing with Sucker Punch at +2. Special bulk is not improved over regular Bro, so it is much weaker on that side than AV Bro. But it can still take many attacks, especially with CMs, and has a good chance to live max SpA Mega Gengar's Shadow Ball without too much investment. Same with Aegi

Great to see people taking an interest in this project, I'm really excited to see what we all come up with but the end of it! However, keep in mind that it isn't really a discussion thread, at least not now. We're all just nominating stuff we'd like to build around, if you don't like something or are curious, don't clutter the thread with it here. Either try to find the person on PS and ask, VM them on their Smogon profile, or I dunno, use the 3v3 discussion thread like it's made for! If you'd like to quote / reply to someone's post here, simply hit 'reply' and copy the contents in the text box and paste it in the other thread and post it there...

anyway, I have a few things I'd like to propose, a0161613 you can count these all separately when the voting starts:

Altaria @ Altarianite
Ability: Natural Cure / Cloud Nine
EVs: TBD
____ Nature
- Dragon Dance
- Return
-
-

Mega Altaria is something I think is criminally underused. I know OU =/= BSS but this thing had a fairly lengthy stint near the top of their viability rankings, so it clearly has potential, and I think we could be the ones to tap into that in the 3v3 setting. I prefer the Dragon Dance set with Return, Earthquake, and a filler move (either Roost, Substitute or Facade). However this set can either be used with a pure offensive spread, or go way more bulkier and aim to get more boosts up, this can also be done with a mono-attacking Return set. We could also opt for a special attacking set or a tankier / support one, but I think those sets are too far outclassed by stuff like Sylveon, Mega Gardevoir and Clefable. Anyway that's why I left it mostly blank, we can decide which set to use (if we want to use it)

~~~
Darmanitan @ Choice Scarf / Life Orb
Ability: Sheer Force
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Adamant / Jolly Nature
- Flare Blitz
- Rock Slide / Stone Edge
- U-turn
- Earthquake / Superpower
This thing hits like a truck, in fact; Life Orb boosted Flare Blitz (from a Jolly Nature) hits harder than Mega Kang's Double-Edge (from Adamant!)!! AND it doesn't even take your mega slot! I mean if that doesn't sell you then I don't know what will.
~~~

Sableye @ Sablenite
Ability: Prankster
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Bold Nature
- Will-O-Wisp
- Calm Mind
- Recover
- Snarl / Dark Pulse

Why was this thing so strong that OU wanted to ban it but it can't even crack the top 50 here? Perhaps 3v3 is way too fast / offensive for it, or maybe someone just hasn't found the right team for it yet...

Hi all. The submission stage will end in around 12 hours from this post. So get your remaining entries in while you can.

My submission #2

Defensive Charizard X
move 1: Will-o-Wisp
move 2: Roost
move 3: Dragon Claw
move 4: Earthquake / Flame Charge
item: Charizardite X
ability: Blaze
nature: Impish
evs: 172 HP / 132 Def / 204 Spe

I've found Zard X to be frail so was intrigued by this particular set when I saw it on the WIP analysis. I forgot to update this earlier.

I've mentioned before how I feel Char is general is frail. The fact that it can be built to survive and capitalise on certain threats in no short part to its unique typing is intriguing to me. This Mega could always use a little more love and this seems to have been a particularly unknown set.

This pair is very similar to the one I posted in Psynergy's core thread last week, so it'll be interesting to see.

Carbonific's Mega Metagross + Hydreigon

Mega Metagross is an underused Mega in ORAS that everyone forgets exists, and Hydreigon is one of my favorite staple Pokemon. So I'm interested in both of these Pokemon.
