Basculin @ Life Orb
Ability: Mold Breaker
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Waterfall
- Aqua Jet
- Crunch
- Superpower

+

Stunfisk @ Passho Berry
Ability: Static
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 SpD
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Discharge
- Earth Power
- Stealth Rock
- Toxic

Basculin can take out Crustle through sturdy with mold breaker & outspeeds most threats on the team with the exception Electrode, Floatzel, and Misdreavus (whom it speed ties with). It can accomplish the following:
252+ Atk Life Orb Basculin Superpower vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Stoutland: 322-382 (103.5 - 122.8%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252+ Atk Life Orb Mold Breaker Basculin Waterfall vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Crustle: 273-322 (109.2 - 128.8%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252+ Atk Life Orb Mold Breaker Basculin Aqua Jet vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Monferno: 250-296 (92.9 - 110%) -- 50% chance to OHKO
252+ Atk Life Orb Mold Breaker Basculin Crunch vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Eviolite Misdreavus: 200-237 (76.6 - 90.8%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

Basculin, however, struggles to break Electrode and Floatzel. Stunfisk accomplishes this by luring Floatzel with passho berry and by handling Electrode relatively well. Stunfisk can also stomach at least 2 hits from any of his physical threats and can weaken Misdreavus for Basculin.
252 Atk Life Orb Floatzel Waterfall vs. 248 HP / 252+ Def Passho Berry Stunfisk: 118-140 (28 - 33.2%) -- guaranteed 4HKO
4 SpA Life Orb Floatzel Ice Beam vs. 248 HP / 4 SpD Stunfisk: 148-177 (35.1 - 42%) -- guaranteed 3HKO
252 Atk Life Orb Floatzel Ice Punch vs. 248 HP / 252+ Def Stunfisk: 148-177 (35.1 - 42%) -- guaranteed 3HKO
252 SpA Life Orb Electrode Hidden Power Ice vs. 248 HP / 4 SpD Stunfisk: 125-148 (29.6 - 35.1%) -- 16.4% chance to 3HKO

0 SpA Stunfisk Discharge vs. 0 HP / 0- SpD Floatzel: 282-332 (90.6 - 106.7%) -- 43.8% chance to OHKO
0 SpA Stunfisk Earth Power vs. 60 HP / 0 SpD Electrode: 198-234 (71.7 - 84.7%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

Time to vote!!

We have two cores aiming to destroy galbia's sample team of Standard Boring ol Crustle Spike HO.

The first is RawMelon's core of Jumpluff +Huntail where he takes advantage of the teams absence of a scarfer to sweep.

The second is aki0s core of Basculin + Stunfisk which is quite unconventional. The core aims to break through the mons with Mold Breaker Basculin and effectively deal with Basculin's threats with Stunfisk.

Thankyou guys for submitting your cores!

The core this go is Mr. Mime, Prinplup, Zebstrika.

I was going to add images right here, but waiting so that I could add images has resulted in this post being late, so screw the images and idc that it's late. It took too much effort to make I'm posting it anyway.

Mr. Mime is a major issue for this team as it busts through ferno, stout, and crustle with minimal support, and he also beats missy with decent health, or at least busts it up for a revenge kill with poor health. Seemed like the best mon for the job of narrowing down the dismantling issues. That left electrode and float.

Given my need is something with synergy with AOA Filter mime, stealth rock, and something to beat electrics and float simultaneously, I ran through several options. Eventually I concluded an old favorite core from my early days of pu was the best for the job: prinplup + zebstrika. Prinplup lures electrode in so zeb can absorb a volt switch/tbolt and threaten a sweep. Prinplup serves as a dedicated stout sacrifice, and utility w/rocks. With rocks up, zeb + mime is virtually unstoppable by this team, relying on low probability effects (aka hax) to win, and defog prevents crustle from having any lasting effect on mime and zeb in their already frail states. The synergy provided by prinplup is superflous and is excellent glue for the 3-man core.

Breakdown:
Lead Zebstrika
Turn 1 Volt Switch
Switch to Prinplup if stoutland or electrode is in play or if float was sacked.
Switch to Mr. Mime otherwise.
Turn 2
-If you brought in prinplup and the opposing pokemon is something not named Monferno or Crustle, use stealth rock. Otherwise scald for the kill. Leave Prinplup in against anything, until it dies.
-If you brought in Mr. Mime, the job is simpler: attack. The best switch ins to mime are zebstrika and missy, and electrode can only take one hit safely, where missy will lose the bout at this stage in the game.
Turn 3
- When prinplup dies, you simply bring in mime or zeb and with rocks up and problems of the way, they can clean up with almost no opposition.
- If electrode is about to force out mime, you simply switch to your living prinplup and double out to zeb. Electrode fails to 2hko zeb and if it gets a rod boost it 2hkos it with tbolt, wrecking the team as a rod boosted zeb also 2hkos missy, meaning you need electrode missy and ferno alive all at once to just kill it, and unless they get lucky mime will just clean right up.

And given there are 3 other mons available, you can consider all three expendables to let this core break this team reliably.

The team is a balanced volt-turn team with a strong defensive core. Rotom-F, Monferno and Lumi create the momentum core and the rest support it. Gourgeist-Super is this teams resist to ground, water, normal and grass types. It can check or counter many of PU’s premier offensive Pokemon such as Golem, Leafeon, and Stoutland. Gourgeist Ghost typing also allows it to work as the teams spinblocker. Lumineon provides excellent role compression to this team where it serves as the teams primary water check and hazard control while being a slow pivot that creates appreciated momentum to Rotom and ferno. U-turn Ferno was added for extra momentum and because of its resistances to Grass, Ice and Dark types mons notably Pawniard, Cacturne, Rotom-Frost and Leafeon. The team felt slow so I added Rotom-F to revenge kill, trick and add momentum. The team was looking rather weak to normal and psychic types and muk and thus Klang was chosen as an additional normal check for the team that serves as late-game win con. It great steel-typing and resistance to psychic, dark, grass, fairy and dragon moves solidified the squad as a defensive balanced team. Finally, I needed an answer to other momentum teams and Monferno and Stunfisk was chosen to perform those roles, provide rocks and eliminate momentum. Ninetales on its own is a huge threat to the team, as it can OHKO 4 members after a Nasty Plot, and the only faster Pokemon cannot KO it back unless it has been weakened. Cacturne can come in first and easily put Monferno into boosted HP Ground range, and after Ninetales has worn the team down, Cacturne can clean up as Rotom-f would have to switch in at least twice to RK Ninetales.

Similarly to Ninetales, Simisear is able to set up on Gourgeist and Klang easily and proceed to wreck havoc. Nothing will be able to switch-in reliably once Simisear gets a Nasty Plot up since everything is either 2OHKO-ed or OHKO-ed by Fire Blast or Grass Knot. Rotom-F cannot OHKO Simisear unless it has been weakened beforehand. Chinchou is a great switch-in to the majority of this team (except Gourgeist which Simisear deals with and Monferno). Chinchou also beats a lot of the mons 1v1 (Rotom-F, Stunfisk, Lumineon). Monferno obviously cannot switch-in to Chinchou since it gets 2OHKO-ed by Scald and Chinchou can live a Close Combat. Lumineon doesn't appreciate a Volt Switch but, Chinchou must be the last mon standing to beat it 1v1 also Lumineon can't do much back anyways. Since the team does not have Knock Off, Chinchou doesn't have to worry about losing it's Eviolite so it will be able to take more hits with the extra bulk.

So the team is noticeably weak to Calm Mind Clefairy, setting up and simply winning 1v1 against the likes of Gourgeist, Stunfisk, non SD Monferno and Lumineon. Thus, all that's necessary is to check and beat Rotom and Klang, which of course checks Clefairy due to Trick and its Steel typing, respectively. Camerupt, yes another fire, is a great defensive answer to both Rotom-Frost and Klang, preventing Volt Switches and able to take the tricked Choice Scarf if absolutely necessary, because even with a Choice Scarf it still beats the two mons it's supposed to check. Camerupt 2HKOs Klang with Earth Power over 50% of the time after rocks, and with solid pressure with Stealth Rock, Rotom can be whittled away as well. Camel also takes on Stunfisk and Gourgeist if need be, altho Clefairy takes them on fine as well. Regardless, as soon as Rotom and Klang go down, Clefairy simply wins, barring 34 paras in a row from Stunfisk.

A full health cro muk sets up on and beats the entire team (bar ferno crit) save klang. Klang, being a common muk answer, is easily countered by offensive trapper probo, who outspeeds it without a boost, taunts it, traps it, and beats it in general. Small hax can leave klang alive, but it is then revenged immediately by one of the 4 other mons. The strategy is to bring in muk and force in klang. Then bring in probo to trap klang. I found thunder wave to be more effective than volt switch for trapper probo, especially since it reduces klangs speed for the taunt if it sets up before it gets trapped, and makes it harder to hax out probo. Once klang is out of the way, sac probo and sweep with muk.

Special Floatzel does really well against this team as Ice Beam 2HKO's Gourgeist, HP Electric does a good amount to Lumineon and Klang can be taunted preventing it from recovering. Seaking helps out Floatzel a lot by being able to switch in on Rotom-F who is the only check to Floatzel. Seaking can weaken the team by knocking off Gourgeist, Lumineon and Klang allowing for Floatzel to break through a lot easier.

Arbok and Monferno do a good job of pressuring their common checks on this team. Arbok lures in and weakens (or kills) Stunfisk, Monferno, and Lumineon - while causing problems for everything else. Monferno handles Rotom-F, Klang, and Gourgeist - and can easily clean up once its checks (Lumineon / Stunfisk) are weakened.

Playing with Taystee was really enjoyable because with great synergy, momentum and a strong defensive backbone, I could easily beat the top tier mons and common answers to the team. Those common answers include the aforementioned Cacturne, Clefairy, Floatzel, Monferno, Muk and Arbok. However, no matter what I did, I could never play around Nasty Plot Mr. Mime because it annihilates this team. Ferno and Gourgeist are just set up fodder for Mime which then proceeds on sweeping the team without a care in this world.
Without NP:
252 SpA Twisted Spoon Mr. Mime Psychic vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Eviolite Monferno: 332-392 (123.4 - 145.7%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252 SpA Twisted Spoon Mr. Mime Psychic vs. 252 HP / 4 SpD Gourgeist-Super: 186-220 (49.7 - 58.8%) -- 99.6% chance to 2HKO
252 SpA Twisted Spoon Mr. Mime Psychic vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Lumineon: 168-198 (49.1 - 57.8%) -- 57% chance to 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
252 SpA Twisted Spoon Mr. Mime Psychic vs. 252 HP / 4 SpD Stunfisk: 148-175 (35 - 41.4%) -- 75.4% chance to 3HKO after Leftovers recovery
252 SpA Mr. Mime Focus Blast vs. 252 HP / 100 SpD Eviolite Klang: 150-178 (46.2 - 54.9%) -- 63.7% chance to 2HKO
252 SpA Mr. Mime Focus Blast vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Rotom-F: 206-244 (85.4 - 101.2%) -- 6.3% chance to OHKO

With NP:
+2 252 SpA Twisted Spoon Mr. Mime Psychic vs. 252 HP / 4 SpD Gourgeist-Super: 372-438 (99.4 - 117.1%) -- 93.8% chance to OHKO
+2 252 SpA Twisted Spoon Mr. Mime Psychic vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Lumineon: 333-393 (97.3 - 114.9%) -- 81.3% chance to OHKO
+2 252 SpA Twisted Spoon Mr. Mime Psychic vs. 252 HP / 4 SpD Stunfisk: 295-348 (69.9 - 82.4%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
+2 252 SpA Mr. Mime Focus Blast vs. 252 HP / 100 SpD Eviolite Klang: 298-352 (91.9 - 108.6%) -- 50% chance to OHKO
+2 252 SpA Twisted Spoon Mr. Mime Psychic vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Rotom-F: 279-328 (115.7 - 136%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Evidently, Mr. Mime can 2HKO every mon on the team without NP except for Stunfisk. With NP boost, it just wrecks everything Taystee is. Mr. Mime's awesome speed is also threatening to this team because the only thing faster is the revenge-killer Rotom-F.

To secure the sweep and ensure a guaranteed win Probopass was added to the core for extra reassurance in regards to Klang and to prevent an easy revenge kill with Rotom-F.

That is my core against my team.
