[Anything Goes] Mewtwo

[OVERVIEW]

Even through 6 Generations of pokemon and drastic changes, Mewtwo stays as a top tier threat in any tier its ever been in. While it might not strike dreaded fear into your 12 year old friend in the park during recess, it still manages to stay as a top tier threat and even in a metagame where, anything goes, it posses many unique characteristics that place its spot as a threat.

Moves
========

Mewtwo has always been known for its dreaded power and it delivers that in Anything Goes. Psytrike is necessary STAB to be able to kill Arceus Poison, Mega Gengar, while being able to dent other pokemon fairly hard. Shadow Ball is great for attacking Arceus-Ghost, Giratina, while Focus Blast can hit Steel types who try to come in and resist Mewtwo's Psystrike such as Skarmory, Arceus-Steel, and Ferrothorn, which is essential coverage for Mewtwo. Ice Beam is able to knock out Rayquaza and dent pokemon such as Lugia, Primal Groudon, and Yveltal, but it must be wary of a possible Sucker Punch. Fire Blast murders steel types such as the ones mentioned above, while also being able to hit Klefki. Taunt prevents pokemon from setting up in front of it and gives it some utility vs more balanced and defensive teams. This can be opted out for Calm Mind if you decide to run Mega Mewtwo Y, as it lets it deal out unparalleled damage output.

Set Details
========

The EVs are optimized to give Mewtwo the ability to outrun the likes of pokemon such as Darkrai, Rayquaza, Arceus, and the Lati's. The item choice is pretty straight forward, if you have the space for a mega and the desire to sweep with Calm Mind, Mewtwonite Y is the item to go for. Other than that, Life Orb is the most efficient item Mewtwo has to its disposal.
Usage Tips
========

Its best to get Mewtwo in on a double or on a turn where the opponent isn't doing anything that will directly hinder Mewtwo. Taunt should be used stop bulkier pokemon from recovering off Mewtwo's damage and Life Orb Stalling it. Delaying its Mega Evolution is benefical due to Mewtwo's base form having a higher Defense Stat. Mewtwo can serve as a excellent late game cleaner while able to wallbreak midgame.
Team Options
========

Darkrai, Yveltal and can help check the Ghost types Mewtwo doesn't appreciate. Fairy types such as Klefki and Arceus are great teammates, as they can check Dark Types that Mewtwo despises. Xerneas pairs very well in particular, as Xerneas can eliminate Dark Type Pokemon and allow it to freely spam STAB Psystrike, while Mewtwo can check the Steel Types Xerneas struggles with. Defensive Pokemon such as Yveltal, Ferrothorn, and Primal Groudon don't mind taking the psychical hits that Mewtwo is horrified of.

[SET]

Mewtwonite X gave mewtwo the ability to take the Psychical approach to a new level. STAB Low Kick achieves a 120 Base Power due to the weight of the general pokemon in Anything Goes. Taunt is a must, without it Mega Metwo X is more prone to getting toxic'ed, paralyzed, or worst of all, burnt. Ice Punch helps deal with the Rayquaza's, Yveltal's,'Lugia's of Anything Goes. This may be opted out for Stone Edge to hit Ho-oh super effectively and hit Lugia and Yveltal harder than Ice Punch, Granted you hit. Earthquake is great coverage for Primal Groudon, Arceus Poison, Mega Gengar, Mega Diancie, and Jirachi.

Set Details
========

The EVs are optimized to give Mewtwo the ability to switch into Stealth Rocks, Mega Evolve, and proceed to be able to take 2 +2 Arceus Extreme Speeds, and be able to revenge kill it. Max speed allows us to speed tie with Mega Gengar, while letting us outspeed Mega Diancie, Darkrai, and Arceus.

Usage Tips
========

Taunt can be a great way to prevent you from getting status'ed, as well as a way to block defog, recovery, and set up from your opponent. Mewtwo X is typically less common than Mewtwo Y or regular Mewtwo, so keeping your surprise factor is key.

Team Options
========
Mega Mewtwo X's Fairy Weakness requires you to prepare for fairy types. Pokemon such as Primal Groudon, Ho-oh, Jirachi, Arceus-Steel, Arceus-Poison, and Aegislash can switch into fairy types and force them out due to Fairy Types inability to truly threaten any of these pokemon. Dark Types such as Yvetal and Darkrai can help deal with Ghost types. Hazard Stacking could be possible due to Mega Mewtwo X's ability to stop Pokemon from defogging due to Taunt.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

Mewtwo has access to a large move pool allowing Status moves such as Recover, Will-O-Wisp, and Taunt to become a great Stall set, but Mewtwo's defensive typing and stats don't scream Physical wall. Bulk Up + Drain Punch allows Mewtwo X to regain any lost health while dealing impressive damage. Substitute on either set allows Mewtwo to dodge status moves and can potentially force your opponent to waste a turn breaking your substitute. Mega Mewtwo X could make use of any of the three Elemental Punches, and Self-Destruct to prevent pokemon from Defogging such as Lati@s and weakening a wall. Mega Mewtwo X also has the ability to run Iron Tail or Poison Jab to deal with Fairy types.

Checks and Counters
===================
**Yveltal** : While it doesn't appreciate coming in on a Ice Beam or Low Kick, its STAB coverage of Knock Off, Sucker Punch, and Oblivion Wing allow it to deal with every Mewtwo in some way.

**Aegislash** : Mewtwo's only coverage moves that will hit it super effectively is Fire Blast and Shadow Ball, but you risk being hit hard by Shadow Sneak or Gyro Ball.

**Sableye** : Sableye can take 2 hits from any Mewtwo and its STAB moves have no effect on Sableye. Mega Sableye can stall Mewtwo out due to the fact Magic Bounce will reflect its taunt right back at it and it can proceed to Recover Stall.

**Ghost Types** - Shadow Ball may hurt, but this type can generally take any hit from Mewtwo and threaten it with STAB Ghost Moves. Giratina-O in particular can threaten to Shadow Sneak it.

**Bulky Psychic Types** : While they can't threaten it back offensively, Lugia and Wobbuffet can deal with Mewtwo. Lugia in particular has to be wary of taunt though, but it has the ability to Toxic Stall it abit if it can land a toxic on it. Wobbuffet beats all of Metwo's sets apart from Stalltwo, which is not prevalent enough to really be too threatening.

**Bulky Fairy Types** : While they have to be wary of the rare but deadly Iron Tail or Poison Jab Mega Mewtwo X, they can take any hit comfortably and threaten Mewtwo out. Xerneas completely stops Mega Mewtwo X, Klefki also offers a free Thunder Wave which is the last thing Mewtwo wants.

**Revenge Killers** : While mewtwo is quite fast sporting a 130 Base Speed Stat, it isn't fast enough to not worry about choice scarf users. Pokemon such as Genesect can outspeed it due to a choice scarf and feel free to throw off a nasty U-Turn. Priority, Specifically Sucker Punch, is the demise of Mewtwo. Deoxys-A can threaten it with Knock Off due to its 180 Attack Stat and 150 Speed Stat.

**Status** : Klefki's Thunder Wave makes Mewtwo alot more easier to handle thanks to its speed being crippled, allowing for slower revenge killers to pick it off. Toxic only weakens its longevity. Sleep makes Mewtwo a sitting duck. Burns on Mewtwo usually just ruin its longevity but on Mega Mewtwo X it practically renders it Useless.

A few notes, since this is not ready for quality control:
Everything should be in bullet point form, to be written up after two checks. Please fix this, as well as some of the spacing, as we can't check it until it's in the proper format.
Not sure how the first set is utility or why LO is the second slash
It's also jolly?
I'd deslash stone edge and put it in moves for the second set, haven't talked to other QC so that isn't final but you really don't wanna be unable to touch megaray
There's very little point in having sections for aegislash and sableye if you're going to just go ghosts later, make one big section for ghost types

There's a ton of other weird stuff all around this analysis that I won't go over until it's ready to be checked, I believe this is your first but I'd still be sure to take another look at it when putting this in bullet point form because there's certain things like stating that MMX can survive 2 +2 Espeeds with the defense investment and copying a ton of stuff from the ubers analysis which is an issue since there can be similarities but don't blatantly take things which don't apply, such as a sizable mention for wobbuffet when it's barely relevant

Execute please make some of the above changes

in general, try cutting down on the fluff and including more information. Your Overview should be talking about things like Mewtwo's role in the metagame, its Speed tier, vulnerability to revenge killing, etc. Take a look at some of the other analyses around this forum, or check out some already uploaded AG analyses (http://www.smogon.com/dex/xy/pokemon/kyogre/ag/ is a good example)
