Welcome to Smogon! Take a moment to read the Introduction to Smogon for a run-down on everything Smogon, and make sure you take some time to read the global rules.
Actually, if you go to his page in the Pokedex and hit left/right, it will switch between the two forms, and they have the same Alolan Pokedex number of 072.
For this reason, I don't think it's too crazy to expect non-Alolan forms to be legal once Bank releases.
4 and 8 speed EV's on Celesteela both give the same stat, so you need to either go 252 HP / 4 Spe or 244 HP / 12 Spe. (244 and 248 on HP also give the same stat)
I think Celesteela and Garchomp are the two standard choices here to fill out a team (I actually plan on trying these 6 soon). Celesteela handles the Fairy issue, and Garchomp gets Poison Jab. Garchomp probably also deals with Gengar fairly well.
Megas aren't allowed, and Walrein, Darmanitan, and Combusken aren't in the Alola Dex.
Hail's biggest advantage right now is Aurora Veil, which sets up both Light Screen and Reflect at once, but only if Hail is active. Hail is going to focus more on goodstuffs that can abuse Aurora Veil, I...
Hence why I said eventually. I imagine it'll be '19 if they do it again.
Regardless, I'd like to catch one assuming that it is legal in case I want to use for whatever that season is.
Sorry for a question not related to VGC17 specifically, but I wasn't sure where else to put this. Since it's likely Lunala will eventually be legal for a VGC format, does anyone have a suggestion for a nature before I catch mine? I assume Modest is a safe choice.
Another quick question: Do we know if Solgaleo/Lunala and the Ultra Beasts have 3 guaranteed 31 IV's as they have in the past, or is it back to being completely random?
(I suppose I might as well ask this as well: Do we know if anything is shiny locked?)
Can anyone confirm whether breeding a regular Ninetales will result in a regular Vulpix hatching or an Alolan Vulpix? (or any other Alolan form, obviously)
Doesn't involve new Pokemon, but what do you guys think about Z-Splash Gyarados with Tailwind support? (With something else to handle possible Electric leads, obviously, such as Garchomp)
